Friday's South is a great neighborhood-style bar, though it's downtown in Collinsville. The staff is friendly, the food is good and more than reasonable priced. Good beer selection. The Sunday pizza deal, large deluxe for $9, has to be one of the best around. The thin-crust pizza is one of the best in the area.
Review Source:I ate too much and it is because the food was very tasty. It was Thursday, "Philly & Fries" on the Daily Specials. Food came pretty quick. They passed all the basic tests with flying colors.
1. Smiled and served me pretty fast from the bar.
2. Fries were hot, I hate gooey fries.
3. The food came relatively fast.
What came to my table looked like two sandwiches at other bars. I think the bread was there to keep the meat out of the french fries. I had to cut it with the knife to make it manageable. That was a good thing. Ordered up a PBR draft and started in on the sandwich.
When I looked at the meaty beast of a sandwich, it, my first thought was, "No way I am going to finish this today." That is what I get for thinking....
It was huge, had plenty of tasty cheese and just enough peppers mixed in. As I said, the fries were hot. Even the long fries and I had some long ones, were crispy hot.
I couldn't help but eat the whole thing. Clearly half of that Philly could have been tomorrow's lunch, but hell no, it tasted too good to stop!
The were friendly too. Why I waited so long to check this place out..
I'd comment on the pizza, but I was too full to try any. It look awesome. Sunday or Wednesday I'll tackle a thin crust!
Five stars easy! They should get five more for value!
A co-worker recommended it, so I went yesterday for lunch. The special for the day was a Philly Cheese Steak. It was pretty good, only $6. I'll have to go sometime when I'm not on the clock so I can have a drink or two. They have food and drink specials every day of the week. From what I can remember they are Mon: 35cent wings, Tues: $4or5 Burger n fries, Wed: $9.95 any 16" pizza, Thurs: Philly, and I don't remember Fri-Sun
