I must have driven by the place 100 times before finally stopping in for dinner. I'm glad I finally gave it a try (okay, multiple tries now), because it's delicious! They have some really creative (Key West) and unique (Rock and Fire) rolls, along with the staple favorites (Tekka, Philly, Negihamachi) and all are tasty and made with really fresh fish. Prices are pretty comparable to other sushi joints in the area, though I really think the quality of fish and creative rolls here make it stand out as one of my favorites in Lake County.
Review Source:I stopped here on a Tuesday evening right after they opened at 5 PM. No other customers were there or came in while I was there. But no matter, the service was very good and helpful. Everything I had was real good including the miso soup, the chicken yakitori which was excellent and the godzilla roll which was loaded with tuna and at a good price for what you got. You could tell everything was made with care and attention to detail by the Japanese man there behind the counter. Was this the best sushi I have had? No, but it was very good and I would certainly go here again if given the chance.
Review Source:Although it's in a strip mall, the interior has a cozy feel. Â The music was soothing but peppy, and the decor was not over the top like some sushi restaurants can be. Â The staff was friendly.
I ordered the spicy salmon roll, Philadelphia roll, and Boston (B) to go. Â The price was about what I had expected it would be. Â While I waited I noticed that there were a good amount of people packed into the small space. Â I figure that was a sure sign that this was a hidden jewel.
I got my neatly packaged order, and the waitress/hostess pointed out which pieces were which. Â I found the food to be fresh and tastey. Â There was nothing wrong with it. Â I can't say there was anything out of this world great about it. Â
I would go there again because it was what I expected and the food was good. Â However, next time I may try some of the rolls that were specific to that restaurant.
Finally got back here and boy am I glad, this place is very good. To start, I have to give big props to the server, he was very friendly, funny and you gotta love that. As for the food, the Boston B roll was among the best Spicy tuna rolls I've devoured. The spider was very good, but not among the elite. I had mixed feelings for the ninja turtle roll, but overall it tasted good. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp on the outside though, it made for a weird texture. The eel roll was great, I really liked it. The Santa Fe roll tasted fine, but there was barely any fish in it. I have to say my favorite roll of the night was the spicy scallop, maybe the spiciest roll I've had anywhere.
Review Source:I live down in Chicago, but lived  in Lindenhurst for 15 years. I'm used to the ability to find awesome sushi a mere minutes away where I live now. But when I'm up in Lake County, its a harder task. I have to say that I'm very pleased with the quality of nigiri sushi here. The service can sometimes be slow, but that's not a problem when I'm out to dinner catching up with old friends. The goza is good. Miso soup is good and they even have mochi! Which was a favorite of mine when i was a little girl living in japan. All in all, this isn't the best sushi I've ever had. But it is a good stand in. A cozy family run restaurant in the suburbs.
Review Source:This was the first time I have ever tried sushi. It was nice inside and the service was good. I had the Crunchy California Rolls and Spicy Shrimp Rolls (everything I had was cooked). For it being my first time it was suprisingly good. Although I probably wont be eating sushi again for a while, this place has def opened up a door to new tastes. Thank you I Love Sushi.
Review Source:My family and I just moved back to the area from San Diego, and we were craving Sushi. Â I ordered Salmon Sashimi, Las Vegas Roll, and the Chicago Roll. Â My wife ordered the Spider Roll, and some Miso. My two boys ordered the Chicken Teriyaki and a California Roll. The portions were small, and the price was high. All of the food tasted fine, but nothing that would bring me back. I may have been spoiled with Cali Sushi where most specialty rolls went for 2-3 dollars less and 2-3 more pieces per roll. I' m hoping not. I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends.
Review Source:I have been here twice and enjoyed it both times. Â I cant comment on service since both times were carry-out. Â Both times I got one of the Sushi platters and this is where I tasted my new favorite piece of sushi, eel. Â Not the cooked bbq stuff but raw, very tasty and unique looking.
Review Source:I went to this restaurant on a Friday evening in August. It's located in a strip mall on US 45 in Grayslake. Â My party of 3 arrived at about 6:30 PM and the place was about half full. Â We were immediately seated and our drink order was taken. Â We ordered a "large" bottle of cold sake. Â Something to note--they only have one option each for cold and hot sake. Â Â The menu doesn't list any details about the sake other than "cold" and "hot", so I guess it's up to their discretion what they end up serving you. Â Ours ended up being a sake from California, which all three of us in our party enjoyed (although we're not sake experts). Â
The restaurant's expertise lies in their specialty rolls. Â Although I'm more of a nigiri girl myself, I was with a group that wanted to do rolls. Â We ordered several different types, with my favorite being the Love roll. Â The fish tasted fresh and I really enjoyed their spicy sauce. Â They have so many different rolls listed on their regular menu, and even more on their daily specials! Â
The restaurant got a little busier as our dinner progressed, but service was still excellent. Â I overheard the wait staff talking to some of the diners there and it seems that many of them were regulars. Â I will be returning too, and hope to try some more of their specialty rolls in the future!
