I try not to review a place until I've been twice but that may be years. Â It is a lot cleaner than the other Chinese restaurant that's in Lincoln. Â Nice decor etc.. Â The service was pitiful. Â Trying to pay to leave was even painful. Â Chew and screw would have been a good option, no one was around. Â Finally the sushi guy made the move to take our check. Â the bartender didn't give a shit. Please let us out of here...
You have to hang by the bar and be loud to be noticed. Â I'll pass.
Chicken wings-ok, spring rolls-very good, fried rice- salty dark and mushy. Â Chicken with veggies-ok.
After reading the reviews, I managed to convince my husband to give this restaurant a try. Â We were not expecting stellar Chinese but we were quite disappointed with the quality of the dishes we ordered. Â Here is a quick run down of our meal:
- Sweet & Sour Pork: thick battered pork cubes, not crispy at all, served with a side of pink sauce with pineapple and cherries. The sauce was horrid, the pork was OK without the batter.
- Chicken wings - decent, moderately crispy and flavor was good
- Sub Gum noodles - Portion was huge, topped with beef, chicken, shrimp and vege. The noodles were good but the beef taste slightly off, the shrimp was pasty in texture! I ate mostly the noodles and vege.
- Special Sushi roll, good tasting , skimpy on fish, excessive sauce.
Total cost was $44. Â Quite steep for the quality of the food. Should have stuck with just sushi.
We will not be returning.....
This is a fairly average Chinese restaurant. (We haven't tried the Japanese selections.) The hot and sour soup and the spring rolls were very good, but all the vegetable dishes we've had have been mediocre. They didn't seem fresh or crisp or particularly tasty. Even the crispy noodles weren't crispy. The ambiance is not great and diminished further by the large screen TV. I would come back here any several circumstances: Â (1) it's a weekend evening and other restaurants in town are full, (2) it's late and other places are closed (this is open until 10 weekdays, 11 weekends) or (3) I'm in North Woodstock and just in the mood for Chinese or Japanese food.
