I try not to review a place until I've been twice but that may be years. Â It is a lot cleaner than the other Chinese restaurant that's in Lincoln. Â Nice decor etc.. Â The service was pitiful. Â Trying to pay to leave was even painful. Â Chew and screw would have been a good option, no one was around. Â Finally the sushi guy made the move to take our check. Â the bartender didn't give a shit. Please let us out of here...
You have to hang by the bar and be loud to be noticed. Â I'll pass.
Chicken wings-ok, spring rolls-very good, fried rice- salty dark and mushy. Â Chicken with veggies-ok.
After reading the reviews, I managed to convince my husband to give this restaurant a try. Â We were not expecting stellar Chinese but we were quite disappointed with the quality of the dishes we ordered. Â Here is a quick run down of our meal:
- Sweet & Sour Pork: thick battered pork cubes, not crispy at all, served with a side of pink sauce with pineapple and cherries. The sauce was horrid, the pork was OK without the batter.
- Chicken wings - decent, moderately crispy and flavor was good
- Sub Gum noodles - Portion was huge, topped with beef, chicken, shrimp and vege. The noodles were good but the beef taste slightly off, the shrimp was pasty in texture! I ate mostly the noodles and vege.
- Special Sushi roll, good tasting , skimpy on fish, excessive sauce.
Total cost was $44. Â Quite steep for the quality of the food. Should have stuck with just sushi.
We will not be returning.....
This is a fairly average Chinese restaurant. (We haven't tried the Japanese selections.) The hot and sour soup and the spring rolls were very good, but all the vegetable dishes we've had have been mediocre. They didn't seem fresh or crisp or particularly tasty. Even the crispy noodles weren't crispy. The ambiance is not great and diminished further by the large screen TV. I would come back here any several circumstances: Â (1) it's a weekend evening and other restaurants in town are full, (2) it's late and other places are closed (this is open until 10 weekdays, 11 weekends) or (3) I'm in North Woodstock and just in the mood for Chinese or Japanese food.
Review Source:After a recent hike up in the White Mountains, I decided to take a closer look at Imperial Palace up near Lincoln, NH. Â As a bit of a Chinese food snob, I must say I was pleasantly impressed.
First off, their menu is extensive and greatly varied. Â Second, their prices -- particularly for their lunch specials, served from 11 am to 3 pm -- are very affordable. Â Their portions are excellent, Â both for main dishes and appetizers, and the cuisine is top-notch. Â A full platter of potstickers, a large eggroll, and a big plate of white rice and spicy orange chicken set me back less than $14.
The interior of the restaurant is comfortable and pleasantly subdued, rather than noisy or distracting. Â Although only one other table was occupied when I came in, by the time I'd finished there were several others filled (as well as a lunch party of 12 or so high-schoolers!). Â
For the relatively rural backwoods of New Hampshire, this place is a treasure. Â If you're in the mood for excellent Chinese cuisine after a day's hiking in the White Mountains, I would absolutely recommend going here.
Stopped in during the summer for lunch; only one other table was occupied. Â They have a Japanese and Chinese menu, and a lunch special until 3:00pm. Â She immediately brought us water and a tasty hot tea. Â We started with the wonton soup, which was very tasty, served hot, and a fair size full of wontons. Â The lunch portions were HUGE. Â My wife loved her chicken, with nuts and peppers, and my beef and broccoli was solid. Â The shrimp and veggie tempura appetizer was huge also, with perfectly fried items, if a tad too much coating. Â Still, for the middle of NH, this was well worth stopping. Â 3.25 stars.
FYI, the owner/waitress does not speak English very well, and brought me a dish I asked about but didn't order - be careful! Â PS - she specifically turned on the TV, but put it on Home Shopping Network... Huh?
My friends and I frequently come up to Lincoln, NH. We tried a Thai place in town where they also served sushi. The sushi there was gross, which is why after being sent to the IP by snowboarders last season, I am really thankful to have found this place.
Imperial Palace is a Chinese & Japanese cuisine restaurant with an item or two of Thai food. They also have a Full bar right next to where they made the sushi.
The atmosphere in the dining room is family oriented but they also had TV's at every corner so we were enjoying a nice ball game while we dined there.
If I remember correctly, the waiter Sipan, told us to get a bottle of warm Sake to eat with the sushi we ordered for starters. It was a fantastic combination. Then we ordered the Hong Kong Steak, the Triple Delight in a Nest and some Lo Mein and fried rice for dinner.
Unlike many restaurants in Boston, the food there was at a higher quality which was why I didn't mind paying the extra dollar or two for quality service and fine cuisine. I think even at the end we only spent around $15 per person, so this place is a great destination to grub at.
I'm basing my review on one experience here.
You can tell by the maximum amount of stars I've selected that it was an enjoyable experience.
A group of friends and I were on a mini ski trip on our way to Montreal for St. Paddy's day, when the young lady who's parents own a condo in Lincoln suggested we dine/drink here. At first I was skeptical considering her being a vegetarian and this being North Woodstock frigging New Hampshire.
I'll start off with the service. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart who spoke enough English to help us with anything we needed. She brought out the fantastic drinks, round by round with a smile on her face.
The Drinks were quite strong and very generous. I recommend the Fog Cutter, but i do not recommend having waterfall contests (trust me) as you will be hammered after two (again, trust me).
The food was the stuff of legend. The General Gao Chicken was fantastic along with the dozen appetizers we all ordered.
Finishing the night off with 3 bottles of warm Sake was a great way to see them off.
I cannot wait until we go back up this season, as i will be paying my friends at Imperial Palace a visit. If you're up at Loon or on the Kangamangus, and crave Chinese food or just want a good place to drink, I highly recommend coming here.
Some friends and I went up to Loon for some boarding this winter and decided to hit up the town for some grub. Â We decided to check this place out cuz we looked inside and saw some cuties in there. haha. Â
They sat us near the alcohol bar and we were pleased to see that they also had a sushi bar. Â A few flat screen tv's also lit up the place and provided some nice News/Sportscenter background noise. Â We ordered the regular fast food Chinese dishes (beef teriyaki, chicken wings, chicken fingers) and also some Beef Chow Foon, Lo Mein and Friend Rice. Â We also ordered some sushi (crunchy spicy salmon, crunchy spicy tuna, the eel roll, rainbow maki, and a few others.)
Being from Boston, I've had my share of Chinese food and Sushi. Â The wings and fingers weren't oily like other restaraunts and the Chow Foon, Lo Mein and Friend Rice were quality dishes. Â They reminded me of this place in Hong Kong that I used to go to all the time. Â The Sushi was also surprisingly good. Â In fact, it was great. Â The Sushi dishes were definitely comparable, if not better, to some of the well known establishments in Boston. Â
After dinner we decided to shoot the shit and order some drinks. Â The bartender was about our age and was real chill ( I think his name was Vito). Â We asked about the sushi and he told us he works the sushi bar also and that the head Sushi chef was from Fugakyu!, which is one of Boston's well known establishments! Â No wonder their Sushi was so incredibly delicious.
All in all a great experience. Â A great place to go chill after a hard days work on the mountain. Â Some VERY VERY cute waitresses for the fellas and I some of my female friends were fond of Vito the bartender/sushi bar apprentice. Â I"d def head back for round 2 next season.
