Great little place with an upscale, fresh menu but very reasonable prices, run by two very friendly gentlemen. It is in a historic house with lovely ambiance, and would be a great place for a romantic dinner or an outing with friends. We had the kids, and although they didn't have an official kids menu, they do offer (very high quality) pizzas and grilled cheese. We had salmon and a pork chop that were very good, and the desserts were excellent. The entrees included gourmet pizzas and a couple lower-cost gourmet sandwiches, in addition to more traditional dishes like trout, salmon, pork chops, etc. The peanut butter pie was particularly scrumptious. The dishes were interesting and very tasty without being pretentious or contrived. Â The food is high quality enough for foodies, and also utilizes alot of local produce as well. Â I highly recommend this place.
Review Source:This place is a peaceful slice of refined heaven in a loud intrusive hardscrabble Hell. Burnsville looks "quaint" to the "outsider tourist" eye. Beware. Do not try to stay unless you got enough money to "not need your neighbors". Beware of the locals. "Children of the Quilt". I can say this. My mother is from Yancey County. Even she will say; "They will make your business their business." The Hensley House is an old Historical Mansion that has been remodeled complete with al fresco seating as well. Ms. Margaret is your Hostess with the Mostest. A pretty lady with a bubbly personality with a well traveled sophistication. The music is awesome. Loving the sirius. Her taste is impeccable. The place is elegant, yet comfortable. Happy, but not noisy. Service is quite attentive and personable but yet respectful. Food is the best thing popping in Southern Haute Cuisine in all of Western North Carolina. The specials are so good, ya just wanna say; "surprise me!" My two favorite "staples" on the menu are the Shrimp and Grits or the Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon. DONT LEAVE WITHOUT DESSERT!!! DECADENT! Â One HUGE PLUS! Its the only place in Bvegas where you can get a quality sedate dinner and have a drink with it.
***If you are ever in Burnsville...this is a MUST!!!***
It's been a while since I ate here, so I need to give it another chance, but this place needs some work. The interior of the restaurant looks like it has been thrown together without much thought. The menu was unimpressive and nothing jumps out at you. The pizzas need to be taken off the menu. They are just plain not very good, and I saw a sign, that said they are the best in western North Carolina, or something like that. We had a pretty good salad. Because it's Burnsville and there's not many choices, I will give it another try. I thought when Burnsville got alcohol, restaurants would improve, but so far haven't found that to be the case.
