In the mood for something spicy..ordered the chicken vindaloo. Tasted like campbells tomato soup with spice thrown in with a couple chunks of chicken. I couldn't even choke it down.

$20 thrown in the trash.

I have been a loyal if not a die hard fan of Indian palace for years. I would have to say it USE to be the best indian food that I have had ever. Unfortunately the owners sold to a new owner and then it all went down hill. Why would you buy a restaurant and its name and reputation to replace the food your customers have grown to love.

The sauce use to be full of flavors and taste authentic, now it taste like ragu with a dash of curry.

I hope the new owner realizes that the old saying" if it ain't broken don't try to fix it" holds true and goes back to the way it use to be. If not they will lose me and I'm sure numerous indian palace fans

I have been going here for years, since they first opened. They now have new owners. (July 2012) Some things have changed. I would be interested to hear from other regulars what they think of the changes.

The Korma sauce used to be brown and creamy, now it's yellow-ish and more runny. There isn't as much added to the korma dishes as before, no cashews, raisins, etc. It used to be an interesting mixture. Not anymore.

The Kashmiri naan isn't as sweet.

The onion chutney is less sweet and too spicy to eat. Leave my tongue and lips in pain.

There used to be symphony of flavors in the chutney and other dishes. Not so much anymore.

The chicken in the chicken korma smells and tastes funny. Not bad, just not right.

You no longer get papadom and chutney after you order.

You wait a lot longer for service than before.

I have bad digestive issues after eating there now, that never used to happen. I used leave there feeling refreshed, as though the spices in the food and high quality of the food left my system feeling almost cleansed. Tumeric and curry spice are good for you, and I felt refreshed and good, as though my blood had been cleansed after eating there. I no longer have that feeling when I leave. Now I feel a heavy stomach as though there is too much oil in the food and not the same spices.

I would like to give the changes more of a chance, but for the money I spend and the bad digestive issues afterward, I don't know if I can even go back.

I really hope other regulars pipe in. I'd like to hear what other regulars think.

We ordered out - It's stuck behind a strip mall, and the inside seemed stuffy and uninviting. The food honestly wasn't the worst - Not great, but not bad. It also came in an "Irish Spring" deodorant box, which was kind of a turn off for me...
We got all the dishes medium spicy level, but it was EXTREMELY spicy! One person couldn't eat it because of the spice. So feel comfortable getting one level below what you normally get.

This place is an absolute disgrace to Indian food. What a complete waste of money!! We ordered take out from here last night and our order was as follows:
2 naans
1 tandoori roti
1 order of tandoori chicken
1 order of lamb vindaloo
1 order of saag paneer

The first container of food I opened was the lamb vindaloo and was in utter disbelief! Having eaten vindaloo everywhere including India, we first thought they must have mistaken our order as there were 4 pieces of lamb which looked boiled in a pinkish cream colored watery sauce. Vindaloo is known for being fiery red with a thick gravy!! This dish looked nowhere near to a vindaloo for us.

Next was the sag paneer which was also aboslutely thin and watery.

The naans were completely undercooked. The tandoori chicken was 4 tiny pieces of chicken which were neither good nor bad. It was the only meal saver for me.

The tandoori roti was ok and they had packed a lot of rice in foil.

We were so disappointed after the meal and felt we had just thrown 60 dollars down the drain. What a total waste of money! Needless to say we will not be dining here again. Wish there was an option for 0 stars but oh well we will give the one star for the tandoori chicken, roti and rice which were the only food we ended up eating.

I have been going this place for years and years. It's one of my favorite places to go in Ft. Myers. People want to complain about the servers being apathetic and rude....what is with that???? HAve you even tried the NAAN bread here??! DELICIOUS PIECE OF HEAVEN. I could probably eat 20 pieces of this bread, no joke.
I happen to like the "rude" waiters...they're not really rude BTW, just stoic. :) Geez, people are so uptight! Dip your NAAN bread in your spicy chicken curry and enjoy yourself. That's whats up!!

I am on the road 365 days a year I have had the pleasure of dining in many great Indian restaurants in the U.S.
Dinner might be different, but the very limited lunch menu, the old dark decor, the could not care less attitude of the servers, made this a very forgettable dining experience.I will never go back. The one star was for the price(inexpensive) and the chicken curry was ok.

If you're looking for great ambiance and delicious food then look no further. Dark lighting and traditional indian music add to the relaxing effect and the food has very little room for improvement. The service is great and the food comes fast. All in all it was a great experience and I would absolutely recommend it if you're in the mood for some authentic indian food and a relaxing atmosphere.

The food was quite good. However, the service was terrible, with surly waiters. Not sure if we will go back again other than to pick up to go.

Best recommendation I've received in awhile for Indian food- super tasty dishes and very accommodating service. i had the Navrattan Shahi Korma and Mushroom Bhaji and couldn't have been happier with my choices.

Definitely try this place out if you're in the area!

Excellent food. We got takeout here so I can't say much about the service. The food was ready plenty quick for us to get there and pick it up. (Regarding other reviews and surly waiters, I think pretty much every Indian place I've been in has had surly waiters. Must be some sort of job requirement.)

The dishes were very good. Chicken korma was good and creamy, nice big pieces of chicken. Chicken tikka masala was very good; nice smoky flavor. Very generous with the rice - it was packaged up in a big tube of tinfoil which was a bit strange but was fine - I'm used to getting things in the cardboard containers.

Breads were very good - onion naan and pashawari naan. Really good onion chutney too, as good as the India Quality in Boston, my yardstick for onion chutney.

This place is recommended.

The decor is stereotypical to say the least, definitely nothing special. The food is pretty damned good though. I can't speak for the staff as members of my party knew the owners, so they were really cool with our table -- not sure if this is how they normally are or not. They were really nice people though! And fun to talk to.

As to specifics about the food, their gosht bhunaand is amazing. AMAZING!

My gulab jamuns, however, tasted like they came from a store-bought powder instead of being fresh. The syrup was good but the dough was just... ick -- weird texture for jamuns. I don't know if they had sat in the syrup for too long or maybe they just use a low quality mix, but they weren't very spongy... more like wet pasta al dente. Had it been my first time eating them I probably would have never ordered them again. Thankfully I know what they are supposed to taste like. :) Overall I was happy with the food and everyone else at my table (7 others) seemed to be as well.

Food: 4 Stars
Service: 3 Stars
Location: 2 Stars

The place was pretty empty, so hopefully for their sake they sell a lot on http://grubcab.com... I don't dislike this place, but if given the choice between eating their food at home and eating their food at their restaurant... I'll be eating it at home. Nothing against them, I'm cool with giving them my business... just kind of a boring place to eat. :)

We've been here for lunch a few times over the years, but never for dinner, so I thought I'd give it a try. The primary reason for hesitating to return to this place is because the male servers (owners?) while never actually rude or surly, certainly are approaching that level.

So after a couple years away I gave it another try, my wife couldn't make it so I went solo. Sadly the same guys run the place, and their people abilities haven't improved a bit.

For starters I had papadams and asked for a glass of red wine. I asked what their house wine was and he said Sutter Home! I couldn't believe it! That is NOT drinkable, so I settled for a Kingfisher beer, which was just fine.

My meal? Chicken Tikka Masala with basmati rice which was quite good.

The ambiance - it's a great hall with Indian music playing; the furnishings are Indian, but a bit tired around the edges.

Overall, the food was a 3.5, service a 1.5, ambiance a 2.5, but the Sutter Home (shudder) requires a final score of 2 stars. Sorry...

I didn't realized how spoiled I am in Boston to have a handful of delicious Indian restaurants at my disposal.

I went here for lunch and was not impressed. Dark lighting and so-so service along with flavorless naan and rice, and a pretty underwhelming dish. I wouldn't come back here unless I had a deep and desperate craving for Indian.

Not necessarily a place to sit down and have dinner - the servers are fairly nonchalant and seem borderline disdainful of having to wait on you. And the dining room tends to be on the empty side. Oh, yes, the decor is that cookie-cutter indian-restaurant variety, with cloth tapestries of palaces and elephants. But the food is fantastic. I like to get takeout. The Navrattan Shahi Kormi is perfectly creamy, spicy, and currylicious. Their naan is crispy and heavy on whichever ingredient you selected. Maybe it has something to do with being the only Indian restaurant in town, but India Palace hasn't let down yet.
