First time visiting Iguana Mia. Â Saturday afternoon around 2pm and it was busy. Â Our waitress was sort of spacy/confused and we guessed she might be new to food service. Â Things took quite a while to happen, which was OK with us since we were in no rush, but our neighboring diners got up and left after being ignored for a good 20 minutes.
We both had January specials - fish and chicken. Â Surprisingly more complex flavors than we had expected, not your typical Americanized Mexican food. Â Chicken was overdone on the edges and tortilla chips rather chewy but otherwise the meals were good. Â Lots of families so it was very loud and rather messy throughout the dining room. Â Would try sitting in the bar next time, maybe more peaceful and a good excuse to try one of the huge margaritas we saw at another table!
As soon as you get seated they promptly bring you chips, salsa and water. The salsa is brought with a mild and a hot and each dinner gets a small bowl to mix to their liking. The service is prompt and friendly. The food is pretty tasty too, on my last couple visits I have been taken by the carnitas. Tender chucks of pork that have been fried right before serving to add a nice texture to them. They are served with tortillas, two sauce options, rice, beans and the usual toppings.
