Look; given that it is one of the few restaurants on the south side that caters to vegetarian audiences, I think it's pretty cool, but the food was rather bland and pricy for what you ordered.  They have some items that were pretty tasty but I wouldn't go out of my way to go eat there.  If I were ever hungry & in that location, perhaps  ; )

A lot like El Faro but they have free chips and salsa and you can get anything through the drive thru! Their fake meats are are among the most savory I've had. Their tacos are great as is the veggie cubana. It is also wonderful for meat eaters. In fact every time I've gone I've been the only vegetarian there!

I love eating at this place. They have great food. They do an excellent job in combining healthy food with Mexican food. Prices are reasonable and the place is great for meeting friends or going out with family. Their take out service is also great. They have great customer service.

This place is nasty and dirty. Been here twice and each time the same. I've seen chuck e cheeses cleaner. I think they don't own a mop or broom nor do they have experienced workers to serve you much less clean.

Great Mexican Food. Awesome vegetarian protien options beyond just beans and rice in a tortilla. Great Carne Asada Burritos too!

The food is amazing - messican with a bunch of healthy options, veggie fare, and fresh juices.  I'm taking a star away because they close randomly - I'd say 60%  of the time that I try to stop by, they're closed for no apparent reason.

Visited here a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised.  The menu is not much different than their sister location at El Faro on 31st street.  While it doesn't advertise itself as a vegetarian friendly restaurant, they have excellent non-animal protein selections.  They could do a better job of keeping the restaurant clean but I'd continue coming back here so long as I didn't see anything egregious.

I've been here a few times with one of my co-workers, and quite honestly - for relatively low-cost high-quality Mexican food, it's pretty good.

Housed in a former Arby's, Indio has a variety of tortas, tacos, and other great dishes. It's relatively low-cost (Lunch for the two of us - including tip - was about $12), and although there was a little bit of a wait, in all honesty - we were there during the height of lunch hour (around 12).

Wait staff are very attentive, there's a great atmosphere (the afternoon we were there featured a guitarist), and all in all, a small spot of joy on the southwest side of the city.

Second time around everything was not that great. They also nickle and dime you- even charging for a tomato.

Used to go here a lot. My mom went last week and told me the torta's have shrunk considerably and that avocado no longer comes with the torta. You can order it on the side for an extra charge.

    How disappointing.

I live right by here, went to high school about 2 blocks away, and I go here probably twice a month or more. This place is so good. The waitresses are SO rude (there's about two nice ones). Being Mexican and not being able to speak Spanish well I usually get treated like crap when I come here, but it's okay because that is how much I love their food. They  have a great variety of vegetarian food as well. I love this place! Even the mean waitresses!
p.s. i pretty much dislike every other mexican restaurant. Good steak at mexican restaurants is really hard to find. Next to my moms food, this is the absolute best Mexican food in all of Chicago.

Been here a few times and it is constantly good.

I was here yesterday for diner. I had pork meat in green sauce. The meat was tender and the sauce was really good, not too tangy and not too spicy. My friends had chicharron en salsa roja and queso panela a la parrilla (grilled cheese). The queso comes with delicious tomato sauce that some how brings out the flavor of the cheese. This dish also comes with salad, rice and black beans.
We have also had the chiles rellenos, they are good (not as good as my moms', but they are good. But again no body makes better chiles rellenos than her so)

As said before, they have many of the same dishes as El Faro. the menu is not as extensive. But they do have some of the favorite vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes.

Dessert lovers, they have the Faro cake here. Delicious chocolate cake topped with flan and a spread of cajeta, simply delicious.

The service is really nice and attentive.

The food is FANTASTIC! Best tacos in town. I previously had an issue with how some of my friends were treated, but feel much better after being contacted and reassured by the owner. The prices have been pretty consistent while others like Zacatacos have gone up significantly.

Came back here a few days ago and it's better than ever. Although the wait time is a little more now, it's definately worth it. Sucks too because there's no seating available but I'm not complaining too much! I come here for my veggie burger ready to devour! Good news to all vegetarians and soy enthusiasts: their vegetarian/soy selection has extended! YES! Now not only do they have veggie burgers, but also soy-chicken tacos, soy tortas (a mexican sub-like sandwich..kinda.), and I forgot what else. So much to choose from. I stuck to my veggie burger and discovered that if I order a side dish of guacamole I can add that to my burger and it tastes even more amazing! We came here Saturday morning and our waitress was one of the nicest and most attentive. I will say that we definately received excellent service. Party of 4 and our bill was less than $40 bucks, including tax. However we decided to get some desserts to-go (separate bill..don't know how much desserts are, sorry). You guessed it: arroz con leche. Yes it's amazing, cinnamoney, rich goodness.

    Service: A+
    Cleanliness: A+
    Friendliness: A+
    Food (taste, variety, presentation): A+
    Environment: A+

Oh, I forgot to mention, well you know how most Mexican restaurants play that brazer-ass music, which gives it an authentic feel but if you're Mexican like me and don't listen to that it actually annoys you? Ok well we were jammin to some Bob Marley over here. It was cool. The walls are a nice warm orange tone which brightens up the world during these cold winter days. I also like the sun on the wall.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant, hands down.

I have never sat inside to eat but i have had from from this location it is awesome and i am in love with there rice water  i've never really had actual Mexican food until i started dating my girlfriend who is Mexican also when we came in to get our food we didn't receive a bunch of stares from everyone as if we were outcast so if anyone who is not familiar with this place you should give it a try

I wonder if this place got its name from the giant bespectacled Native American at the end of the block?

The menu here is very close to that of its sister restaurant, El Faro, but the food tasted better somehow:  More char, more richness... All the vegan faves are here as well as many omnivore delights.

And you can't beat the prices.  Staff is very friendly, but don't be alarmed if they speak Spanish to you, even if you are the biggest gringos.  Very accommodating to kids as well.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, the food is always fresh and the best thing of all: IT HAS A DRIVE-THRU!!! There's a lot of Mexican restaurants that are good but for some reason it's very hard to find some with drive-thru's. It's great if your a fast paced person who enjoys good and fresh Mexican food.

I'm a vegan and was very happy to see the wide, and I mean wide, selection of items that are intentionally vegan or can be made vegan rather easily.  This restaurant does not market itself as a vegan destination on the South Side, however, they should.  I've been making the trek to Soul Veg for years.  At Indio, or their sister store El Faro, I always get a huge amount of carcass free food without having to pay a lot.

So I transferred jobs and working close to home now!! So I have to hit the local lunch spots. I recently ordered lunch from this restaurant and I must say it was great. I called to have them fax me their lunch menu and I received it immediately. I was STARVING that day so I ordered their chile relleno taco dinner and it truly hit the spot. The dinner came with rice and beans for the sides and two huge chiles rellenos with enough tortillas on the side. The chile rellenos were so big that I had to get creative and place my tortillas in a way so that the chile rellenos would fit. Well I must say you get a lot for the price it was delicious. I will order from there again! Oh... the actual restaurant inside is very clean and nice plus the staff is extremely courteous.
