Absolutely love this place.  The reuben sandwich is outstanding.  I went back again the next day.  The bookmaker sandwich is also great as is the fish & chips.  Awesome décor and right in the heart of downtown.  My favorite spot in Colorado Springs.  By far.

Excellent place to grab a drink and get your grub on! We came here Friday night from the recommendation of a local and it was a great place to chill and have some killer bar food. We were sat in one of their little private booths right behind the hostess stand and all it needed was a little door to complete the enclosement. While we didn't get to see a lot of action going on in the bar, it was nice to have an intimate setting where we could actually hear each other. We just missed happy hour but they had a Sam Adams special going on for $3 so we enjoyed a cold one while perusing the menu.

Problem #1-Everything on the menu sounded delicious. While trying to decide on what to get we ordered their sausage and soft pretzel kebob appetizer and the problem #2 showed up-it was amazing. The combo of salty and sweet with their really, really spicy mustard dipping sauce (I love all things spicy and a little dab had my mouth on fire!) was amazing and I wanted more after that. Instead I ordered their Monghan Club which is like a turkey club with bacon and cheese. They have a good sandwich selection and I was surprised to see a few salmon dishes on their menu as well, something I wouldn't really envision at an Irish joint. The sandwich came out and it was very tasty with a garlic aioli spread on it with fresh potato wedges. I told myself I would save some for later but of course that didn't happen and once again joined the clean plate club. Service was great as well, our server was attentive without being overbearing. I will definitely stop by here again whenever I'm in Colorado Springs!

Came to this pub for a work related function. We were on the upper floor so this is the part I am reviewing. The decor was a bit strange. The bar is very ornate, with carvings or nude women, heavy dark woods and colorful stained glass fixtures while the rest of the room is so simple and sparsely decorated that it looks out of place. There are many photos on the walls, but no dark wood or carvings to give it that 'old pub' feel like one finds common in Irish pubs. The whole atmosphere was somewhat sterile.

The bartender was really nice and friendly. The food was pretty good. I had the grilled vegetables on focaccia sandwich (eggplant, zucchini, onions and peppers) I found the pickles to be a very odd note in there. My DH had the Angus burgers with chips. The burger was nice and juicy and the fries were coated with a flavorful savory seasoning. We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip. I was pleasantly surprise not to find it over garlicky, as it often happens with this dish. It came accompanied by mixed corn tortilla chips, and SURPRISE, some crudites. I really did appreciate the raw veggies and the dip was a nice complement to them. Overall we did enjoy the food but I wish the decor was a little more thought out.

The food is fine. It is Irish styled pub food. It is generally greasy and heavy, but that's what you expect at a pub. This isn't the type of place you go to when you are on a diet.

The service is constantly bad. I completely understand that their majority of sales must come from alcohol sales, but  you have to be able to please your restaurant customers too. The service is slow at best. The wait staff will forget anything you ask for. If you need lemon with your fish and chips, don't expect to get them until you are finished eating.

We go to Jack Quinns because of the running club, but since the service is so terrible, we have started going to other restaurants in that block instead.

I was very impressed with how " on top of it" our server was last night. Was with a group of about 12 and never had to wait for anything. Awesome service!

You're typical upscale Irish Pub, with a flare for community organization.  They run trivia, bike groups, running clubs, and the like.  Definitely not a bar for a smoker though.

From the moment we walked in for a late lunch, we fell in love with the charm.  Each table was enclosed within half panels complete with beautiful stained glass.  This is particularly helpful to know if you have family who are hard of hearing.  I'm sure in the evening it livens up and becomes louder.  However if you go for a late lunch/early dinner you will have no trouble at all.
The menu was perfect.  In fact, it even held some new Irish food options we had never run across in travels.
Our server was quick, courteous, and friendly.  The portions were all very filling.  I chose the Shepherd's Pie but opted to get it without the bread bowl.  I'm glad I did.  WIth the bread it would have been far too filling for me.  Although someone with a larger appetite will love this option as well as the Bangers and Mash.
NOTE:  There are several options for the vegetarian in your party as well!

Jack Quinn's has always been a go-to for me. Their food is better than most of the pubs you will find.

Ambiance: This place can get loud and busy, so if you are going for a quite dinner, you may want to keep going. However, if you want to have a great time with some friends, this is the place to go! Every Thursday and Friday they have a band come in and play, starting around 7. If you can sit in the back near the band, you are sure to have a GREAT time! The band plays non-traditional and some traditional Irish music and encourages patrons to participate in the outlandish sing alongs. If it is your birthday and you are introverted, look out! If the band hears of your birthday they will invite you to join them on stage and bang on a little drum as they play a song and sing in your honor. This is not an unruly environment, but it is loud and a little chaotic some times, but SO worth it. If you are looking for a quieter more intimate setting, there are private dinning booths in the front of the restaurant as well as an upstair which is a nice area.

Food: A mix of basic American pub food and traditional Irish food. The best two things on the menu are the Boxtys and the Irish nachos. The Boxty is a traditional Irish food that is similar in texture and appearance to a crepe. Inside is an assortment of vegetables and meat. I usually get the corned beef Boxty and it is great! Their Boxtys are served with their Merry Rose sauce which is a great creamy sauce that will add just the right amount of sweet to the savory Boxty. The other favorite is the Irish nachos a large portion of homemade chips that are smothered in corned beef, cheese, chives, and sour cream. A great choice if you are not watching your figure on this particular night.

Service: The only reason I don't give this place a 5 star rating is because of the service. When you come in the door, if in the evening, you are greeted by a hostess who tries to find you a table. I have been to Quinn's probably 20 times and each time she is there, she is rude. I know she probably deals with alot of rude patrons, but I don't want to be treated poorly by the first person I see, regardless of if the like their job or not. The wait staff is generally pretty busy and lacking in personality. I think the staff take on the persona of bar staff more than they do restaurant staff. If the staff improved their personalities and became more personable, this would be a 5 star rating.

Altogether a great downtown option. Pretty busy most of the time, but a great experience!

I liked the food here a lot. Sometimes I'd get a beer or a drink, but I mainly went for the food. The shepherd's pie was good and so were the pub chips and dips. They had healthy options as well. The running club was pretty cool too. The upstairs and downstairs have slightly different feels, but both were fun!

Went in here on Memorial Day weekend, myself and four other veterans. The manager kicked my buddy because he "appeared" to be drunk. He wasn't drunk, he got run down by a car in Afghanistan and has problems walking because of it. After confronting the manager, some balding, mild aged retard, he told me I was wrong. I will never eat at this restaurant again.

Standard Irish fare with authentic feel.  They got rid of Beamish, so off with 1 star for that foul.  Their dipping sauces and chips are addictive.  Otherwise, the fish and chips are pretty decent.  Their running club is awesome, though!

I've been to Jack Quinn many times, and used to enjoy the food and atmosphere but I have noticed that the service and quality of the food is going downhill.  The last few times we went, the food that we had previously ordered and enjoyed was so-so and quite lackluster.  The last time my husband and I went, the hostess at the front was quite rude, the food was quite greasy and tasteless, and the live music was so loud we could not hold a conversation.  We were so disappointed because Jack Quinn used to be one of our favourite places to go.

We won't be patronizing Jack Quinn again, we'll go elsewhere.

I really, really like JQ's...and it's funny b/c every time I think about it I feel like it's been forever since I've been in. The atmosphere, staff, bar, food, music...all good. It's one of my favorite downtown CoS establishments. In general downtown leaves lots to be desired but Jack Quinn's isn't one of those places.

Definitely a pub and great place to stop in for a pint or a meal and music without feeling like some strange, overrated desperate CoS meat market. Granted there can be a time and a place for that but in general I'd rather grab a brew and not need to outmaneuver random gropers at a 'club'...unless you're hot...then call me, maybe.

Fabulous... the fried dill pickles are to die for! The corned beef & cabbage with mash is deletable! We've tried darn near everything on the menu and still can't get enough!

My husband loves the beer they have on tap and we frequent Jack Quinn's as often as possible!

I like Jack Quinn's pretty well. Overall the food is good and they have a well balanced selection of beers. The survey is in and it's official, I'm the one person who doesn't like Guinness. (Or maybe it's just that I'm the only person who will ADMIT I don't like Guinness) I feel like I should have one when eating at Jack's but it tastes so nasty I just can't  bring myself to do it.

They have entertainment at least three times weekly if not more.

The wait staff is always quick, efficient and pleasant. We've had the guy with the super deep "Wolf Man Jack" voice a few times and he is an awesome server!

Seems pretty low key on the 2nd floor which is where I always go, being the low key person that I am.  I don't have to be worried about taking my kid along to eat. No obnoxious drunks getting into fights. No one is dancing on the tables. All the drunks seem to have it under control. Of course, I've never gone past 9pm so it could be a whole other story later in the evening.

The seating is not plush by any means. Don't expect cushy chairs up here. It's all wooden benches and stools. The "Irish Pub" decor is not over done or cheesy.  Love the massive wood (I'm curious if it is solid wood) carving behind the bar, pretty cool.

This place has everything you would want in an Irish pub.

Great selection of beer and whiskey; beautiful, rich wood paneling and plenty of space both upstairs and downstairs.  They offer bar standards like karaoke, trivia and live music.  There is enough space to dance a little if you want.

The food is really good (for bar food).  It is very UK-influenced (I won't say the "E" word though that comes to mind--don't want to start another war) meaning shepherd's pie, fish and chips, corned beef and cabbage and bangers and mash.

Colorado Springs is a big military town and they have a friendly banner recognizing this in the pub.

Next time I visit Colorado Springs I will want to make this a regular stop.

This is quite possibly my favorite place in downtown Colorado Springs. It matches up with the best Irish Pubs I've been to in New York, Chicago and Washington DC.

If you love ciders and whiskey, I recommend having a Train Wreck right off the bat. Made with Jameson wiskey and hard cider, it is absolutely wonderful. They have a great selection of beers, whiskeys, ciders and the sort. Very limited wine list, but not really the place for it.

Everything I've had here is great. I've had the fish and chips, the shepherds pie, the rib eye, the corned beef and cabbage, and the bangers and mash. The bangers and mash are really outstanding. The sausages are imported from Ireland, and you can tell. The fish and chips are great as well - as you would expect. The corned beef and cabbage are totally authentic. Perfect comfort food.

We also tried the new Macaroni and Cheese with cheddar and gouda. Sounded great, but you couldn't really taste the gouda. Was still decent.

Great place to knock back a pint, shot, whatever.

Came in with my friends on memorial day in the evening. Turned out we were just in time for trivia. None of us were very confident about our trivia knowledge, but it was fun to try!
For dinner we all ordered something and shared. I had the beef boxty, which is a type of Irish potato crepe filled with savory meat or veggies. I had beef. It was very tender and flavorful. The menu said it was marinated in Guinness. Another friend had the large fish and chips. Crunchy batter, fries were good and I liked the sauce they were served with. Lastly we tried the Shepard's pie. Very bland and mushy. Not a fan. I know food from the UK is not known for being very good, but everything else we ate was tasty :(
Overall we had a nice time, service was fast and friendly. I'd go back for fish and chips. I liked their fries better than Golden Bee

Aside from the beer, I've order the Traditional Irish Breakfast which was very good, and the fish & chips which were some of the best I've ever had.
Been extremely lucky or maybe it's just the norm here, but all of our servers have been outstanding.  Wish I could name them by name, but great service for sure.
So what else could you want?   Good atmosphere, great service, excellent food!

Quintessential Irish pub and one of the most fun places I've ever been to. The food is wonderful and the people that frequent this place become your best friend over a few beers.

I had the bangers and mash - very traditional food that was perfect for getting ready to drink a bit. We also had a soft pretzel appetizer that was delish. There are lots of different beers on tap (always a plus) and the staff is really friendly.

The best part about this place is the live music and the Irish drinking songs. The band plays and makes jokes and gets everyone really into it. There are books on the table so you can follow along singing every song with the occasional slamming of your beer on the table, which is all part of the music and the fun.  I can't wait to go back to Colorado and drink here again!

Jack Quinn's is an Irish pub that is a favorite of the locals. There is a nice selection of Irish and American pub cuisine including fish and chips, boxties, shepherd's pie and guineas cheese soup. There are events that occur throughout the week that provide a different experience depending on your interests.
Monday is quiz night where you can compete against other teams in a battle of wits. Tuesdays are the run day. Show up around 5 pm and sign up for the 5k run. 10 runs gets you a free T-shirt. My favorite is Thursday which hosts the Irish music of Brian Clancy.
I could spend an hour discussing the beverage selection so I will sum it up by saying "give it a go!"

Live music and plenty of Irish Beers on tap.  Service was friendly and quick.  The live music was great and was interacite and funny.  Table bangin good time.

I had the Corned Beef and Cabage and it was very tasty.  For some reason, there were a lot of Irish Folks and they all knew the words to the songs.  I rarely see that in places like this.

We had a group 35 seated in the "upstairs" at Jack's, and this was the second year in a row that they were able to do that.  It's a great building, and I would like to know more about the history of it.

I ordered the Irish Nachos and a Guinness for starters.  The beer was a perfect temp, and the nachos were delicious...crisp browned homemade potato chips topped with corned beef, scallions and cheese.  It came with some overly-sweet remoulade that was a toss-out.

I had the seafood boxty, and my wife had the Guinness stew boxty.  Both were very good.  I found the pancake a bit sweet though, and the chef was heavy-handed with the nutmeg.  However, the portions were perfect, accompanied by a zucchini and pepper saute.  I didn't hear one complaint from anyone about their food, and at $10 I would certainly order that boxty again.

Our server looked like a deer in the headlights at first, but with a little effort I got him to loosen up a little and smile.  The service overall was very quick and attentive without being intrusive to the point of irritation.

There was a live band downstairs, and it was pretty loud, but we couldn't hear it upstairs.

If I were judging this place based on the food, it definitely would have gotten a 3 at best.  I ordered the short ribs, which was their menu special.  First off, they weren't short ribs--definitely baby back.  Secondly, they were a little too charred on the outside, which would have been okay had there been enough sauce, but that wasn't the case.  There wasn't the faintest hint of bourbon in the bourbon glaze, to my dissatisfaction.  I also tried the salmon a friend got, which was pretty seriously overcooked. Very unimpressive.

The service, however, was phenomenal.  The hostess and manager worked with me to get a large party of 15 booked on a fairly busy Friday night, with only an hour's notice.  Our server was incredible; he was the only one assigned to all 15 of us, but no one's drinks were every empty, the table was cleared promptly, and he was just generally excellent and indefatigable.

For me, the best thing about Jack Quinn's is the weekly 5k they sponsor on Tuesday nights - and the discount beer for runners afterward!

The run costs nothing, and of course no one is obliged to drink or buy anything, but lots of folks do.  If you register and check in for the runs, there's a free dry-fit shirt after 10 runs.  A free run and a free shirt -- where else can you get that?  Nowhere.

I love the sense of community this run brings to all of downtown on Tuesday nights.  During the summer, they draw over 1000 people.  You can go into any restaurant in town and find people enjoying dinner out while wearing running shorts and shoes.  It's awesome.  I think all the businesses in the vicinity benefit from this event.

Whew... I love this place, and I haven't even started to talk about the beer selection... which is also awesome.  Great selection of microbrews and European brews on tap, plus an extensive bottled menu.

The waitstaff is always really on their toes, even when the place is jammed.  I have never felt disappointed in the service I've gotten here.

The food is probably the only thing here that I wouldn't do back-flips over.  Not that it's bad, just that there aren't a ton of things on the menu that I'm all that interested in.  It's mostly pub fare, with an obvious Irish influence, and a few standard Colorado selections thrown in.  The tomato and mozzarella salad is great when the tomatoes are in season, but they aren't always.  My friends love the corned beef, but I'm not a corned beef fan anyway, so I can't comment there.  The burgers are good.

I've been in for live music a few times too.  They tend to have a pretty good mix -- nothing too crazy, usually easy to listen to, but it does get loud, which is not so unexpected given that it's a bar and all.

What else can I say? For me, enthusiasm goes a long way, and I love this place for everything they do.

    Timing is the key.

From someone who has vacationed in Ireland twice, if you are looking for a real Irish pub experience, Jack Quinn's is the closest thing you will find in Colorado Springs. The Golden bee up at the Broadmoor is a slightly more authentic pub experience, but it's a British Style Pub and it's ridiculously expensive. Quinn's is a little on the pricey side too, but the food is wonderful...there is almost nothing on the menu I wouldn't recommend. Though ownership has changed over the years, the atmosphere and quality of food has remained high.

Pros: Good Traditional Irish Pub Atmosphere (Most Weeknights, but not Friday's or Saturdays); Occasionally live traditional music; Very good food, some traditional dishes, some Americanized; Friendly and mostly attentive staff.

Cons: Friday & Saturday nights, some Thursdays, like any other raucous American bar which makes a normal pub style conversation impossible; Limited "On Tap" Beer Selection - Sadly you won't find a wide selection of Irish/British Ales or beers beyond a couple of the usual suspects like Guinness and Murphy's

Overall I really enjoy Quinn's, but it suffers from the same failing of many Irish or British style pubs in America in that they try to be many different things instead of just focusing on being the Best Irish Pub in town which would most likely win them more fans all around.

    Update:

Returned for another visit. Ordered their "boxy" for the first time. A boxy is usually served at breakfast. It is a little thicker than a crepe, but thinner than a traditional American pancake. Mine was filled with moist corned beef, cabbage and potatoes. Drizzled over the top was their signature, delicious mustard-based cream sauce. A winner! Keeping their very good 4-star rating.

You know the 2nd grade retort, "If you love it so much, why don't you marry it?"

Well, I would marry Jack Quinn's in a heartbeat. I *do* love it that much.

The Top 10 Things I Love About Jack Quinn's

    1. The Atmopshere: Lacks pretension, huge open space, and when there's live music it's... lively!

    2. The Booths: if you're lucky enough to get one, they feel so secluded.

    3. The Upstairs: more space, more bathrooms, another bar, and billiards!

    4. The Tuesday Night Running Club: SUPER easy to join, you don't have to be there right on time to do it, and they offer great discounts on food and drinks after your run is done.

    5. Monday Night Trivia: Geeks Who Drink! Bring your friends, come up with a cool team name, and see how smart you are!

    6. The Snakebite Diesel: a combination of Harps, Strongbow and Miwadi. Probably too fruity a beer for some, but not for this girl.

    7. The Irish Nachos: I crave these on a regular basis. Corned beef, potatoes and cheese served on potato chips with sour cream and Mary Rose sauce on the side. Holy mother.

    8. The Sage & Garlic Bookmaker Sandwich: The sage really brings out the flavor in this sandwich, and I like the dipping sauce that comes with it.

    9. The BBQ Pulled Turkey Sandwich - the only problem is it's too big to fit in my mouth (yeah, yeah, that's what she said, hardy har har). Seriously, any sandwich that is topped with avocado and onion rings if f'ing AWESOME.

    10. The people who come to this bar. Again, a total lack of pretension and instead a gathering of people who want to have a great time. If I were single I would come to this bar to meet a decent guy, as opposed to a guy who snorts lines of coke off the bar and probably has VD (Yes, Blondie's, I'm talking to you).

I was in town on business and a co-worker suggested I check out Jack Quinn's running club at 6pm on Tuesday nights. After stumbling upon this street doing an impromptu visit to Colorado Springs, Andy M decided the best looking joint on the block was Jack Quinn's.

I was initially worried about this place, as we and another fellow stood waiting to be seated for what seemed like a really long time, and then a lacksidasical waiter/bartender (??) came out from the back and just sort of waved at a random table for us to sit.

But then we had a really cool waitress who was on top of her game, bringing us refills of drinks and the food piping hot from the kitchen.  Andy wanted to try the curry chips, which seemed like an OK idea at the start, until they actually came out.  A massive platter of thick cut french fries, covered in finely chopped bacon (yes, bacon.  There was supposed to be cheese too, thank god I talked him out of that!) and 2 sauces, one that tasted like ranch and the other that tasted like sweet mustard (not sure where the "curry" part comes in here).  It was horrible and completely decadent and evil and rich all wrapped up into one thing.  If you like death served up hot, you are going to want an order of these.

So after that experience, I wasnt too disappointed when my fish cake sliders came out too dry with a heavy oil taste.  You got two and I didnt finish either, by that time there had been enough oil injested into the system as it was.

But the interior rocks, it looks just like an old fashioned pub in Ireland might look, with lots of wood paneling, a great big bar that spanned almost one whole side, and a painted tin ceiling.  If I found myself out that way again I would definitely go back.  Just not for those deadly fries!  Excuse me, I have to go unclog an artery or two now...

Holy crap. I had my first Shepherd's pie here. It is SO good! The atmosphere is nice. It's not the coziest place, nor the nicest, but I like it all the same. It's comfortable. The food is pretty good. I didn't drink while there, so I can't speak for the drinks, but dang. Get the Shepherd's pie!

For Colorado Springs, this is a pretty cool place. My only complaint isn't even with Jack Quinn, but with the surrounding area. Having been a visitor to "downtown" Colorado Springs from San Diego, California, my question is: Where's the downtown? I thought downtowns were supposed to be hustle and bustle. This place is dead!

I'm pretty picky when it comes to Irish bars.  Jack Quinn looks the part, but it really doesn't deliver for me.

The beer selection is what you'd expect from an Irish bar, so you can get a well-poured pint of Guinness, Smithwick's, Harp, and many others.  It's a good selection.

The food is a let-down.  I've eaten there a number of times, and the only thing I really enjoyed was the chips with dipping sauces.

The atmosphere is pretty "downtown," meaning there isn't a sense of regulars or community.  Everyone seems to go there to go there, and it's not really a family.

Jack Quinn's is on the bar strip of South Tejon in the Beach, and this in itself should send out danger warnings.

Nonetheless, this is the best of the Beach in terms of pubs. You have decent seating, nice atmosphere and damn...the service was amazing! Being the DD, she brought me water after water with a smile.

We were an obnoxious group of 15, but the servers dealt with us with ease.

Oh, and the late-night menu is rocking, and the beer-fries are drunk-divine.

Too bad this place is located in hell....
