I've always wanted to like JD's Bait Shop a lot.  It's in a good location, and my friends seem to love it.  I still tend to think it's just okay.  The food is your typical bar food, much of it fried so if you're trying to be somewhat healthy you're going to have a tough time finding much to choose from.  I typically just stick to drinks.  Prices are okay, and you save 50-cents off beers at happy hour if you're counting your change.  The best thing about the place is the fish tanks!  I could watch those fish all night.  The rest, meh... I've had better.

Okay for after work drinks and snacks with co-workers. Other than that, not the first place on my list for drinks/food.

If you're looking for a sausage fest in south Denver, look no further than JD's. The service isn't very good and the staff isn't very friendly, but for some reason people hang out here. Mostly dudes, albeit.

Not a bad lil spot. Ok to have a drink and watch a game. They have cool fish tanks.
Tons of bar games to play. Not the cleanest place but its a bar. prices vary like all the pitchers are the same price even for low grade beer. There well drinks are really bottom line cheap well liquor. Over all ok for a place to have a drink.

I can't say much or any of there other food items but this place has the best jalapeño poppers in the entire world! But be warned. These poppers are so spicy they will burn holes in your stomach and toast the top of your mouth! But if you are like me and love your food with extra kick this is the ideal situation. They also have plenty of TVs for watching football, the service is really quite good and very friendly and there is beer so there you go.

It's a cool place to go for a quick drink after work. When the waitress is by herself though you can't get mad at her for how many people she needs to watchful of. Can definitely get crowded, but it's a sports bar so it wouldn't be right without the crowd sometimes. Most of the waitresses are nice, haven't met them all. Shuffle board is super duper fun, darts  suck and pool tables are average. I really like going here with a few friends, not huge groups though, go here often actually and for sure like the location of it being a block away from my house :)

I was here from Oregon doing a little work and a little Geocaching.  I noticed this restaurant on Sunday when i was out Geocaching
    @ Food - 3.5 stars - good bar food
@ Employees - 5 stars - friendly not too pushy
@ Beer - 3.5 stars only a couple of fair IPAs in house, mostly fake deer, Bud, Miller by the bucket, yuck.

I had a really good time watching the game and the Denver fans drink way too much beer.  Lets hope there were designated drivers...

After the place across the street was a complete let down it was great to find a place hopping with life and SPORTS!

We were greeted immediately upon sitting down and asked what were drinking! Now that is what we expected so we decided to grab some food and kick back.

The food was spot on for bar food. We ordered fries, wings, and onion rings to pick at as we watched the games and drank.

What we thought was going to be a quick stop ended our night there as we got caught up in the games on the many TVs and decided we would call it a night after several hours of drinks that kept coming without much effort on our part.

Looks like we have another Arapahoe Road trip as we mapped several bars and our crawl came to a stall once at JD's but hey that's what this weekend is for, picking up where we left off!

    Nice job!

Stopped by after a work meeting for apps + drinks on the company's tab so I couldn't say no. It was alright. Nothing super special, nothing amazing, but no complaints.

Actually, the fries were pretty tasty, especially dipped in the nacho cheese sauce {legit nacho cheese w/ pepper, not the gross fake stuff}. And they played a ton of country music so I was content!

This is my favorite go to place to watch sports, have a cold one or just shoot the bull with friends.

    Great prices, Fantastic Bartenders!

Bar food is always fast, hot and very good. If you like chili cheese fries you just have to try these.............homemade green chili that actually has huge chunks of pork in it!

I went here to watch Thunder/Heat Game 3 (a Sunday if it matters).  The place is located in a corner of a plaza and fairly easy to find. The inside gives you a lot of promise and truly is a "Sports Bar".  Pool tables; plenty of TV's.

It was hardly busy the day I was there (no fault of the bars).  The bartenders were both very friendly, attentive and didn't keep you waiting.  The food was ok; nothing special (even for bar food standards).  Burgers were very small, like home cooked wendy's burgers and the options for anything else was limited.

OVERALL: very cool atmosphere to watch sports; i'm sure a very good place for sunday football.  Not a place I would choose for their food options. A very cool "hang out with friends for beers" place.

Let's establish this fact before I begin: I'm an elitist jerk who really doesn't like leaving the comfort of Denver proper to go to a bar. So if I go to a bar in the 'burbs, it has to be extra special to drag me away from my beautiful city with a myriad of bar options.

JD's Bait Shop is NOT one of those awesome bars. I honestly do not understand how this place has four stars. The one redeeming quality of this bar was the service, which was consistent and friendly all night.

The rest of this place is about as boring as a film about watching grass grow. It's huge and has tons of TVs and every stereotypical bar game you could imagine, along with every stereotypical bar patron.

This place was old and loud and big and the jukebox was just... just terrible. Nothing divey about this place, but nothing charming or classic about it either.

The only thing this place has going for it is the lobster claw machine. That's right, put in $2 and lower a claw to catch a live lobster. If you catch it, they'll cook it for you. A friend played twice and lost, thank goodness. I think I would have thrown up on the spot if I had to watch a live animal get dropped from a claw into a bucket. Ugh.

So, there you go. If you work in the DTC, I guess you could come here for drinks after work, but please, don't make a night of it. There are SO many places in the DTC with more character and charm that this place.

Cool sports bar with all the necessary ingredients: beer, food, and lots of big-ass TVs. I was here to catch Monday night football with a coworker after a long day.

One star subtracted for the dismal beer list, which is primarily a Bud and Coors delivery system. Only one local microbrew was offered on tap. C'mon JD's, you can do better!!

Kudos for having a tasty green chile stew on the menu. Quite spicy too. It's been a while.

This is definitely a local's place.  The beer is super cold, and there are plenty of TVs for sports.  Come here often enough and you will see that 90% of the people in this place are here 3-4 times a week, which is not a bad thing.  Generally good service, especially once they get to know you.

I was very pleasantly surprised by JD's. The service was awesome, the beer specials were great and the food was much better than expected for the price.

Wow... top 10 bars I've been to. I was on a business trip in Denver and stayed across the street at the Hampton Inn. I wanted a drink and decided to check this place out. Wow.... TVs, darts, fish tanks, pool, foosball, all sorts of service, nice people... just wow. My only complaint is that it's not in California.

After only one visit I have to say JD's holds a lot of promise.

It's right in my neighborhood, located unpretentiously in a strip mall near Home Depot.  The bartenders are friendly and quick on the pour and the drinks are good.  I haven't had any of the food as of yet, but will go back and do so, and then update. But it's a sports bar.  I'm not expecting it to be five star cuisine, nor should anybody else.

Lots of televisions; all sorts of MLB everywhere, which I like.  There are pub games and pool tables, and lots of room to accommodate a larger crowd.  It's a lot bigger inside than you'd think, looking at it from the outside.

This isn't high-class upscale anything; it's maybe a notch above divey, which means it's unpretentious and filled with normal folk who just want to hang out and have a good time.

    Therefore, my kind of place.

Another fun Saturday night at JD's.  Took a friend in from Milwaukee.  Had quite a few drinks.....and then a couple of shots.....

After last call the bartender we asked for another round of shots.  She said she could only take cash.  Discounted our shots because right in front of us she dunked a straw in our shots, capped the top with her finger making a sort of dropper out of the straw and took a tiny 1/50th of each of our ordered shots.

I swear I could picture my younger sister doing that during a holiday family gathering.  My friend and I looked at each other and died laughing.  Toasted the bartender and went on our way.

PEOPLE WATCHING ROCKS HERE!  NEVER A DULL  MOMENT.  I END UP WITH THE BEST STORIES FROM THIS PLACE THUS, I'M GIVING THIS ONE REVIEW ONE MORE STAR.

*****disclaimer:  this place could be bad for you if you're pretentious and don't appreciate good humor and fun.

Divy neighborhood bar to watch sports games or catch a lobster in a machine.

TVs everywhere. Pool tables, darts, video games, and shuffle board. Servers don't have to wear skanky clothes to attract customers. Great selection of draft beer and they have pitchers for binge drinking chaos!

This place is bigger than it looks.   The outside is not a reflection of the inside.  Not sure what I expected - maybe more of a divey type bar.... but it was set up spaciously, more than one bar area and tons of TV's for watching sports.

Seemed like a pretty good crowd.  We got some bar food snacks... pretty good... great service - with a smile-...  and nice cold drinks.

Definately a place to hang with friends for some grub and get your drink on!!!

The good: Nice sports watching atmosphere, plenty of flat panels with a few different games going on.  A Juke Box is not a bad touch but there is no listening to the games you're watching.  The Bad:  I sat at the bar, looked at the menu and thought to myself, "seriously?!"  Eat before you come!  I would give their menu a 1, food quality a 2.

This is a fantastic sports bar.  Sundays have free pool which is very cool.  The place is surprisingly busy on Sundays which really says a lot about the place.  Great bar food, cheap drinks and very cold draft beer.  Love it!

Five stars for great service and cheap drink prices, one star for the amount of seating and parking during happy hour. Fun place to hang out with friends/coworkers but not a good date place (especially with the lovely animals on the wall!). They have a nice open area to play darts and several pool tables. I would go back if a group was meeting up there, but wouldn't make a point to go there as a destination.

I was at JD's last saterday. it was a good time. the drinks were good priced. My pitcher of bud light was 8.50 which seems high but they are big pitchers. My girlfriend didn' like all of the animal heads on the wall but it was expected from a place called the bait shop. There were quite a few pool tables, darts, lots of tvs everywhere you looked and very good service. We got there at midnight and had a waitress at our table before we all sat down. All in all i recommend this place especially for your favorite sporting event.

Meh, i've had better...and in saying better, i mean better.

This dive, whole-in-the-wall bar is alright. nothing special but perfect for a quick beer and game of pool. Decently crowded for a Wednesday night, JD's was full of randoms-work crowd, wannabe's in trucker hats, college kids celebrating the end of finals and people like me....totally preppy and somewhat out of place. however, my friends and i dove right into a game of pool (which i lost!) and were greeted by friendly staff members and prompt service.

Despite the lack of awesome beer selection, this place was decent...not too sure if i'd head back anytime soon, but i made the most of it!
    :)

Stopped in for lunch to watch the first half of World Cup soccer.  I ordered the club sandwhich...can't screw that up right?

Ingredients were good and fairly fresh, with the exception of (I'm pretty sure) the Kraft Singles cheese.  I guess I shouldn't expect too much from the joint, but come on....at least get that halfway decent stuff at the grocery store.  That's not what gets them two stars though.  More on that later.

Service from the bartender was very good, save for the old man "regular" next to me who appeared to be falling asleep at 12:30 PM while drinking water.  Interesting, but that's also not what gets them two stars.

This is a sports bar.  There are TVs everywhere behind the bar, in the middle of the place where the tables are, and I saw one hi-def TV right when you walk in. (granted I didn't walk around, but I looked at what I guess to be a good 10 TVs to see where the hi-def feed was, and there was none other than the one when you walk in.  I don't recall a sports bar that doesn't at least have a halfway decent fleet of hi-def TVs now, but not here. (at least from what I could see)

So, 3 stars for service and food (begrudgingly with the crap cheese) and subtract a point for being a sports bar with a very, very limited selection of hi-def TVs.

Drink prices are good, they run a good happy hour 4-7pm. Pretty cool place inside with lots of big screen TVs and a friendly staff.

Not a place to bring the family, but a great place to grab a beer after work. Get the onion ring app, comes with jalapeno poppers, pretty good and at a great price, goes well with happy hour beers.

This is a great place to go hang with friends, have a drink and play some pool... the food is NOT good and you don't have a lot of choices so eat somewhere else in the area, and hang out here.  The staff is fun and friendly and the drink prices are decent.

This is my local bar. It is what it is. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than Sports Bar. The prices are great and the service is always good. They have tons of TVs, pool, darts, decent music and food. The onion lures or fries on the menu are the way to go. The bathrooms are a bit nasty on some nights but hey it is what it is. This is my kind of bar!

It's close to work, it's cheap, and it's a clean kind of dive bar.

Food is all fried, and it's not all that great, but it definitely does its job. Beers are fairly cheap, and the selection is better than you might think. It has a decent foosball table, which is nice, but there's not much else that makes it amazing other than the fact that it just doesn't suck! (which is hard to do.)

Tasty food, good beer, and pleasant service.

Don't let the skeezy name scare you, this place is actually pretty fun.  It looks at little dirty inside but it's really not too bad.  Pretty clean considering its called a bait shop.

I liked this place for many reasons but the main one being that they have all my favorite bar games!  We played shuffle board for a few hours and drank cheap pitchers of beer!  In addition to that, they have this delightful cheese stuffed jalapeno, wrapped in bacon, dipped in batter and then deep fried.  It is so good.  Also, they have this queso dip that if you add the green chili into it is probably the best queso I've had in a long time.

I will warn you about the people...if you're looking for upscale patrons of society, you probably won't find them here.

Ok, so JD's has moved into the coveted 4 star ranking! Congratulations!

So here is why this place is awesome now. They are remodling, so I gotta give em their due. Also, they have ALL MLB games, so you can watch all your fantasy players! I love fantasy baseball, and this place caters to my obsession.

    Well done guys.
