Awesome! Found this place using Yelp. Great service and plenty of local  flare. Will definitely come back when I'm back in the area. Fish and chips, New England Chowder and Seafood Bisque were all delicious.

I went to Jerry's because it was recommended to me by a lot of people I know. The food and service and overall atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Corrine, our waitress was extremely attentive and seemed to know the menu front to back, she really made our visit that much more enjoyable. I totally recommend this place to anyone who has been curious about it, it's truly great, I'm sure you'll love it. OH and the tuscan chicken sandwich is super delicious.

Went too jerrys on recommendation of friends service was ok waitress told us everything was great she seemed too have a good grasp of menu items my wife and I are foodies I ordered their super cheese burger medium rare after one try waitress said she would get a new one after second try sent it back very well done told her thanks but did Not want a third one I said just bring check she sent Jerry over and he said it was well done looking but cold in middle and it was his special marinade that caused it too look well done he wanted me too have something a insisted that it be taken off bill that was not my goal then he convinced me too have a plane cheeseburger which at this point I finally agreed the entire experience was him defending his super marinated burger me the customer was not important it was a small place with Jerry overseeing the kitchen I sure their seafood is fine my wife's shrimps were very good I think Jerry and his waitress should learn from this my experience at Jerry's left me feeling that his food was prepared right and as a customer I was not I understand chef owners have egos but customers are what pay the bills if you try this place good luck

First Five star I've reviewed.  Hole in the wall feel at first but 8/8 of us said this was the best restaurant and seafood we ate after 8 days in the Northeast.  Do this.

Was out in Riverhead and had read the reviews here so i stopped in.  Restaurant is cozy, clean and comfortable.  Service was good and efficient.  "Jerry" was walking around greeting customers and making sure they were satisfied with their meals -- that was a nice touch.  Someone on yelp described Jerry's marinated cheese burger as the best burger that they had ever had.  So did the burger live up to the hype?  Absolutely.  At $10.50 you received a healthy size burger, a plate of waffle fries and a fair amount of onion strings/rings.  So the burger platter passed the value test.  The cheese burger also passed the taste test.  It was in fact one of best restaurant burgers I had ever had (and I come from a town with good burgers, which include Bobby's Burger; Shake Shack and Wayback burger).  I am looking forward to my next trip to Riverhead because Jerry's will be a must stop place to try some of the seafood selections on the menu.

I wanted to love this place. Great local vibe, seafood on the waters of Long Island, next door to the aquarium and on Main Street of downtown riverhead, it had potential. The food was mediocre, the service slow, and I don't care that the mussels are wild caught, because they had tiny crabs stuck inside of them that looked like bugs. when we confronted the waiter about it, we got a nonchalant answer..."it happens." Will not go back.

Warm, casual, friendly atmosphere. Flavorful, lovingly prepared and presented dishes. Attentive, informed, friendly servers(Charlie was our guy). Wonderful, local wines. Killer desserts! Was my first time and will not be my last.

Last night while traveling to Riverhead for the Winter Wine Festival and having heard some good jazz music at the Hilton, we began looking for some good eats around and our search brought us to Jerry and the Mermaid. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks and looked over a full and delicious looking menu. Taking the advice of the bartender, we tried the clams casino.... Wow! My girlfriend and I readily agreed they were the best either of us had ever had. Also, the seafood bisque was unbelievable- creamier and definitely fuller than any other I had ever had. I recommend this highly as well. She wanted to try the Mermaid seafood salad and raved about it. I know what you are thinking, "maybe they were starving", but we had appetizers at the Hilton so were NOT starving. Lol We were really surprised at the overall great quality of the food because the interior of the restaurant is in no way pretentious and makes you feel welcome and relaxed. For dessert there was coffee and Disaronno and well presented pair of dishes- one with fruit, whipped cream and chocolate. Another with a peanut butter  chocolate pie. Both were delicious and we left feeling very satisfied. Both the bartender and the chef ( who came out and asked us personally about the food and our experience) made us feel welcome. We loved coming here and look forward to returning as the warmer weather approaches.

I enjoyed an amazing meal here last night!  Came here on a whim and will definitely be coming back.  Our server Lynne was very sweet and made sure everything was great.  If you like spicy, I recommend the fried calamari with linguini in the medium marinara sauce.  Overall a great experience.

So after deciding to go to Jerry's for dinner I wish i had a time machine. Starting off with the mediocre table service where your bus boy is friendlier than your waiter isn't exactly the best start. If you happen to be placed in the poorly lit back porch bring your own flashlight so you'll be able to even read your menu or see your food. Great selection of appetizers on the menu, you'll probably change your mind once it gets to the table. The Jerry's "special" buffalo wings are not actually buffalo at all.  More like an Asian sweet and sour BBQ sauce overly smothered on twice fried freezer bag "wings". Drink plenty of water because the heavily salted...everything.. will leave you thirsty and most likely with a headache from a spike in blood pressure. Don't waste your time or money. Riverhead has lots of new great restaurants, you won't find Jerry's on that list! Don't think twice, stay away!!!!

One of the best seafood joints in Riverhead. I try to come here at least once a month, staff is super friendly with delightful food.

Wait service was a bit ditzy but very nice.  Most of the meal was mediocre but the New England clam chowder (the Fri night soup du jour)  was OUTSTANDING!  I'd come back just for that.

Average food, but charming local place with friendly service. Based on the reviews and photos, I expected something a little better, but found it to be just OK with pleasant servers.

My son was getting married and I needed a place to host a casual rehearsal dinner for a group of forty people.
Being from out of town, I relied on a suggestion from the Raphael Vineyard wedding planner.  It was perfect!   Jerry and his son/chef Jerry Jr. made sure everything was perfect!  We opted for a buffet which included such things as mini crab cakes, fried calamari, cajun style broiled grouper, marinated flank steak and chicken parmagiana, along with pasta dishes and salads.  The food was great!  Many rave reviews from our group!  Jerry and the two wait-staff tending our group, Dannie and John, were super attentive and gave personal attention  to my guests.  Service was superior and the food was great!  Wish Chicago had a place like Jerry & the Mermaid!

I had lunch here today. I had a "grouper" sandwich. The talapia they passed off as grouper was as thin as a dryer sheet. The waffle fries were coated with that disgusting batter and resembled greasy iron gates. They even charged for refills of ice tea without alerting you. They didn't see anything wrong with that. It has that sort of ethos. It's a dive that prays on unsuspecting tourists to the aquarium. I would avoid it. I think you have to give it a star to get the review published, but, it doesn't deserve that.

I had such a wonderful time visiting this restaurant over Memorial Day weekend! We called around 930 pm from our hotel to see if we could get a table. The owner actually answered the phone and said no problem. When we arrived, he greeted us from outside the restaurant. It felt VERY VIP. The table was being cleaned, so he chatted with us for a couple minutes and sent us to the bar. While we were eating, Jerry checked in on us a couple times. When does a restaurant owner ever do that?  5 stars for the excellent service! I enjoyed everything I ate - delicious seafood. I wouldn't call the food five star, but they aren't advertising to be five star. It was perfect beachy restaurant.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked into Jerry and the mermaid. I thought it might be a dive, but was pleasantly surprised! My crab cakes were delicious and they had a mouth-watering array of desserts to choose from. We shared the peanut butter pie and it was amazing! Don't pass this place up!

Went there on a Saturday evening at 9:30 PM so could have dinner and enjoy karaoke at 10:30 PM. Overall the place was a good experience.

It has a pleasant atmosphere, including a number of intentionally tacky decorations that gave it a friendly feel. The service was friendly but not amazing.

The food was good. Ordered quite a diverse set of dishes. My favorite was their coconut shrimp and buffalo shrimp. Their crab cakes were mediocre. Their steamers were good. Their escargo in mushroom was pretty good. Their grouper was good - but the "crab stuffing" was mediocre.

The karaoke was very entertaining. They had a lot of good songs and a great crowd of supportive more than tipsy singers. Had a good time with that.

Overall, if it was just the food & service, it would be 3 stars. But with the karaoke, it jumps up to 4. Every Friday and Saturday night.

I though the food was OK but nothing special.  The appetizers were better than the actual meal.  Everything tastes great when deep fried so how bad could the appetizers be?  I think they go overboard with the sauces.  Every dish was drowning in sauce.
We also waited about 40 minutes to get a table and it seemed as though they were understaffed for an already small restaurant.

Wonderful food, wonderful people.  We were greeted at the door by the manager/owner(?) with a big smile and 'hello!"  We were then told to seat ourselves wherever we liked.  The waitress was very accommodating. Very friendly and helpful. I had the a special---grouper stuffed with scallops, shrimp and crabmeat w/a side of mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables.  It was wonderful!  My boyfriend had salmon---I think it had somewhat of an Asian flair.  He said it was very good.  The atmosphere is very casual with walls painted like blue water with mermaids and fish all over the place. Wonderful seafood, great drinks, reasonably priced, friendly people, without the "fancy shmancy", stuff going on!  Located adjacent to the Hyatt Place Long Island East. Very glad we went!

This restaurant is great. Very consistent with their food and service. The seafood is fresh and prepared perfectly. Their wings are fantastic. My family usually comes here when we can't make a decision on where to go and we want a terrific meal. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Came here after a day at the vineyards and had a better time here than I think the last vineyard we went to.

The service was great, and Jerry even came out right after we ordered to let us know that since there were 16 of us, it might take slightly longer than normal.  I thought it was nice that he came out to let us know.  He also came out regularly throughout the meal to make sure that everything was going well.

Everyone enjoyed their food a lot and there were definitely no complaints.  Everyone said the seafood was very fresh and I really liked the steak.  We crazily ordered their 'Make Me Cry' wings and yes...they made us all cry but it was entertaining watching everyone attempt to eat them.  Next time we'll get something slightly more mild!

Will definitely come back here next time we're in the area!

I went to wine tasting with friends a a beautiful Sunny Saturday and never expected to have a late lunch at this place. Just felt hungry and Yelp the report and find out this small join at Riverhead. The decore is family style and friendly. Girls order Strawberry margarita, not so strong in alcohol, sweet with wipe cream, they love it! The fried foods here are OK, buffalo shrimps are so so. Maybe that's because we were into fresh seafood taste, and fry kinda just take away the freshness off the seafood unless the seafood itself is very very fresh... Anyway, the fresh mussel linguini w/marinera sauce is so delicious off the chart!! One of the best ever tried! Also, the fresh raw oyster is just....no word can describe. So fresh and sweet!! The seafood bisque is also one of the best in Long Island. Just the right amount of flavor! Creamy and savory, AWESOME!. Here comes the best part. The price is so cheap compare with those crazy many stars restaurant in Manhattan. This is the place you should totally come while visiting the East end of Long Island.

One of my favorite places!  Fresh local fish and veggies in a fun and friendly atmosphere.  Love the chicken francaise, the rigatoni alla vodka, and of course the wings, which are the best in town!  The staff is always personable and attentive, which is another reason this is on the top of the list of places to enjoy a meal out. (That picture of the Brazilian lobster tail has me drooling, gonna have to visit again soon!)

Had lunch there  a couple of weeks ago. Friendly waitress very attentive . Had the "famous" wings for an appetizer . You gotta try them ,a little sweet and as spicy as you want them to be. Had the fried shrimp basket . Nice sized shrimp and seasoned waffle fries . I wasn't crazy about the cole slaw though. Overall very good and reasonably priced . Lunch for two with one app about 30.00

It's a perfect family-friendly place to have dinner or lunch right after seeing the acquarium since it's a quick walk.

The bizarre aspect about this place is that the outdoor seating is next to a pool for the marine/boat goers who are visiting Long Island.  Indoor seating - lots of things for the kids to look at...it felt like a sea-coast diner.

The food tastes delicious (had linguini with white clam sauce- requested they added the shells with clam bellies which made the dish presentable) and the kids (they have a kids menu but we opted off the adult dinner menu) love the rigatoni a la vodka with mushrooms. The staff is friendly and timely on delivering the food to us .

The one thing that peeved me is the flies buzzing around while we're eating inside.  Would really want to enjoy the food so I'm not constantly waving my hands to shoo them away.  Oooh... the thought of the flies, yuck!

Seafood was fresh and the pasta cooked perfectly. Shrimp scampi with linquine was absolutely delicioius and wiffle fries were a pleasant compliment to the fried seafood compared to your basic fries that you typically get.  Our waiter, Kevin was very attentive and amicable. When he learned that we were visiting wine vineyards the next day, he made an effort to give us some suggestions. What exceeded our expectations is when the owner, Jerry, learned of our inquiry from Kevin, and came to our table not just to say hello, but also took to give us some suggestions of his own including showing those written within a local newspaper he handed us. The efforts by both these individuals truly personalized our restaurant experience.

Really fresh half shell clams and oysters. Great great lunch service from Lynn an outgoing and friendly waitress. Moderate prices with a waterview and a sea and mermaid (and merman ) themed decor.

Jerry and the Mermaid is a "family friendly" type place for an informal seafood experience.  Nice. . . I wouldn't consider it a "dive."  I had the seafood bisque followed by a fried combo basket, and ate it at the bar.  You can get Miller Lite or Bud on draft there, and they have a fair selection of bottled beers.  I must say the soup was on point and the red cabbage slaw that came out with the entree was great and balanced out the fried flounder, clams, scallops, shrimp, and fries.  They offer outdoor and indoor-patio dining areas, and the main room is pretty open and cool, with a window into the kitchen, busy waitstaff, and Quick Draw.  JATM is attached to a marina and right next door to Atlantis.  I noted they have happy hour specials and wouldn't mind tying one on here.
Also, there is a nice Hans Gabali seascape (2002) painted on the entrance exterior, which I like.  Check it out sometime.

So by now I think you can see I like mermaids, this place was cute, I had the crab chowder on my way home from Atlantis, the sea aquarium. The soup was okay it had that fake crab stuff in it not so great. For dessert we had chocolate cake it was the highlight of the meal. I don't think I would go back.http://static.px.yelp.com/static/20090827e/i/new/ico/star_big_2.gif
