This review will be short and far from sweet. The Masked Consumers chose Jim's Restaurant in Prunedale for a Friday night dinner out on July 12th. Due to being delayed in heavy traffic, we arrived around 7:45 p.m. and had a choice of three empty tables, each still dirty from the previous diners. We sat down and waited for our table to be cleaned which was done with the swipe of a hand over the glass top, leaving streaks from food and liquids. No kidding. We should have walked out at that point, but we didn't and instead ordered the Sea Food in Lobster Sauce priced at a hefty $16.50, Kung Pao chicken and steamed rice.  Mostly-broken, fried won ton skins with a sweet dipping sauce were brought to the table. Opting to not choose a libation, we instead ordered water and iced tea, the latter looking like tea but tasting rather...unusual. The chicken in the Kung Pao was old and smelled and tasted as such. The seafood dish was fishy-smelling with a minimal serving of fish, including unopened mussels with bits of shell throughout. The only plus to this dish was the sauce. The rice was cold and old. The menu is gigantic and one wonders how so many dishes could possibly be prepared in a kitchen the size of a postage stamp, so to speak. But that's not all. In order to get to the bathroom, one must traverse the kitchen, leaving us to believe that the Health Department hasn't stopped by in quite awhile. While Jim's Restaurant touts, "Best of Chinese and American Food", we give it  1/2 star.

On the fly my friend and I went to Jims and had their Dim Sum.  Well, I have eaten Dim Sum from San Francisco to different restaurants on the Peninsula,  Jim's was the BEST!. Everything was fresh, made to order and the largest pot stickers I have ever seen.  Their cilantro and shrimp dumplings were unbelievably fabulous.  I am definitely going back.  I have eaten there numerous time and have never been disappointed.  He really needs to move to Salinas as there are no good restaurants there, but he is worth the drive to Prunedale, especially on a beautiful and sunny day.  Thanks Jim.

Steve & Annie are fantastic, and the food is amazing. I wish this was located in Salinas so I had a shorter drive. From steaks, to Chinese, to seafood, everything is first class! Try their monthly wine dinners.
