JJ's is really the best shuffle board in town.
Lori is one hell of a bartender. The drinks are good, and by good i mean PLENTY of booze in them. The drink prices are very reasonable also.
JJ's has a small kitchen you can grab some food while your drinking and just hang out.
It is a relaxed environment and never to crowded, plenty of tv's with all the games on and the juke box that has tons of music.
There is always a mixed crowd there so it is never boring.
I try and go there 2 or 3 times a month.
JJ's is a great place to go for an after work stop to hang with your friends, watch some sports on TV and talk with the friendly bartenders. The location is a little hard to find because it blends in with the other stores in the strip mall. Look for the old clock above the door. Parking is in back. JJ's has one of the best priced happy hour well drinks in Santa Cruz (my Droid app says so). Food is good and inexpensive as well. Wear your blue jeans and order the cheese burger with a beer.

Ain't it great to know both the bride and groom from childhood :) Anyhow, my beau is one of the groomsmen so we drove up from SJ to this joint to meet up with the other boys. Of course, he and the others came in tee and jeans...and I was already dress in wedding attire! Definitely an interesting experience. This place is more cleaner than I expected a bar to be, not grungy at all. They had a different channel on and of course these boys are Shark fans...gotta have watch the sharks before the big day! The guy running this place was pretty easy going and switched the channel for us on 2 tvs. They also had food service from next door come over to serve you! They wanted fries so it was specially ordered as well...$5 for 2 semi filled plates of fries.

The bartender chick was super nice (even though we pestered her for quarters all night for pool), the place was clean and there wasn't one creepy guy there! I mean the place was damn near empty for a Sat night which was awesome for us since we're a bit of a rowdy crowd. Drinks were stiff and well priced. Will be back.
I love this bar. In much the same way as the song goes.
I adore both the bartenders, who always chase away a rough night at my work down the street with a shot of Jack as I walk in the door. They also make it easier to feel a little safer when its empty aside from a few of the local creep shows.
I love the shuffleboard, and its a great bar for your friends to have a game of pool and to tell a couple jokes and get trashed. I always make new friends, and its easy to be a regular without being there every night. Great place to cap off a night on the town.
I only subtracted one star because of the pickup line "Would you like to cuddle?" and the occasional total whack job that screams at me. But they normally get flushed out quick.
Good stiff cheap drinks, great staff (earlier in the day...they kicked me out once over a misunderstanding later in the night) and if you like sports they gots em. They also are the only place in town, I believe, that still has an oldskool shuffle board thing. Good clean fun. They used to have a sweet Galaga game but got rid of it for some flashy peice of crap gambling thing.
The only bone I have to pick could be picked with 95% of bars in the county. What is up with the crappy beer selection? I am so tired of being forced to choose from Sierra, Anchor, Pyramid,Fat tire and Stella. Why no good IPA's? Why no tastey selection? You would think that a bar out there would specialize in haveing a great beer selection.
Over all, my favorite and most frequented lil dive bar.
JJ's is basically the only place I go to drink. Its fairly inexpensive by Santa Cruz standards and the drinks are strong. The bartenders are friendly and will remember your name. If your a San Jose Sharks hockey fan, you probably already know about JJ's, but if you don't.. come by for the next game! We'll play History of Rock & Roll Part 2 on the jukebox and kick back a "Shark bite" together when they win!!
Review Source:Where else can you get breakfast served to you from the joint (Sunrise Cafe) next door with your bloody Mary and bourbon at 630 am? It's kind of like going to your friends converted garage bar if you lived in Georgia. Bar keeps are always characters. Not to mention there's a guy who goes there and has the best mullet I have ever seen on some one under 25. It's the only place where I know of several people flushing there cell phones down the toilet in the same night, been vomited on and didn't have to wait for a cab to get me home. Music, pool, shuffle board and I think they have a dart board. Good times, good times.
