Ok, I guess. Â The crust was nothing to write home about, neither were the breadsticks. But as another reviewer said, its one of the best in Indy, but yeah, that's not saying much. The service was very good and I like the atmosphere. Â However, $9 for a glass of malbec was a bit much for a pizza joint, Â Probably will just continue to make the 45 minute drive down to Lennie's in Bloomington.
Review Source:I thought to give it a shot after reading all the positive reviews. I ordered Slaughterhouse five pizza but all it was a bunch of meat thrown onto a doughy bread. Some people might like the sloppy slices but I am not one of those. If they are going to put so many toppings, I'd expect the base bread to hold the toppings well. I am not sure if I am going back in after the price I paid for one pizza.
Review Source:Tried this place for the first time and was really disappointed. Â The service was poor and the food was just ok. Â The breadsticks tasted like they came from a box adn the parmesan dipping sauce was basically just mayonaise. Â The pizza was under cooked and the crust did not appear to have been freshly made.
Review Source:I met my husband here one night after work and it was already busy. It's in an out-of-the-way location, but the signage is helpful. Obviously they have built a good business because it was already busy inside. Good thing my husband got there first and saved me a seat in the bar. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and t.v.'s in the bar that aren't too loud, but enough to watch the games or news. The pizzas are gourmet style, although getting a pepperoni or cheese pizza is completely possible. Their beer selections are tempting, so we'll return to try the other selections. Many salads are also available and so yummy! We'll be back to try more!
Review Source:Excellent pizza. Â Great experience. Â Woody was one of the best waiters I have ever had! Â If you go, ask if woody is working. He will keep your drinks full and has wonderful interactions with customers. Â When he waited on us, I asked him what was the biggest tip he had received that night. Â He asked me why I wanted to know, and I responded by doubling the biggest tip he had gotten. Â This guy is good and the pizza was great too.
I do not personally know woody and I am not related to him so this is an unbiased opinion of mine.
This is the best pizza I've found in the Indianapolis area. That's not saying much but it really is pretty good. I love the Slaughterhouse Five. It would probably hold its own in a better pizza town like Bloomington. The beer selection is pretty reasonable.
The location is horrible so plan on a special trip -- it's not near anything and it closes early for a pizza/bar type place. I can only imagine that the rent is free for them to be in a place that is completely invisibile from the street and has a parking lot that is full when the restaurant is about 25% full.
As the other reviews mention, the service here leaves a lot to be desired. It ranges from surly to indifferent depending on the night. Don't expect anybody to stop by and ask if you need anything. If you order breadsticks, plan on them forgetting and an opportunity to witness the wait staff yelling at the kitchen about it.
I went there tonight for the first time after hearing many good things about their pizza. Â I called ahead with my order and when on the phone asked if it was okay that I eat inside (because they were closing in 45 minutes). Â The girl on the phone replied "if you get here soon". Â I arrived and told them I had called ahead my order. Â She asked if I wanted to sit at the bar. Â I told her no. Â She said "You can't do that". Â She didn't go into details or explain why. Â That kind of pissed me off because I had already asked on the phone. Â Apparently if you call ahead your order you can't dine in. Â I just didn't feel like waiting for the pizza to cook. Â I was hungry and trying to do us both a favor by calling it in since I already knew what I wanted from their online menu. Â So I said I would just do a carry out. Â She could not locate my order. Â They had no record of my order and had not made my pizza. Â So far this is the worst first experience ever. Â Luckily for this teenage girl (with no customer service skills whatsoever) someone from the back came out to assist her. Â This guy still could not locate my order and explained that it must be a computer glitch. Â He was apologetic and said he would make my pizza immediately and gave me 50% off. Â The pizza (Slaughterhouse Five) was delicious. Â So thanks to the delicious pizza and the guy with a bandana who came out from the back, I will give them a second chance. Â Hopefully that second chance goes well because the pizza was tasty.
So to summarize, shit service, delicious pizza.
FAVORITE pizza in Indy. Dare I say, better than it's only true competition in the area (bazbeaux!).
Really unique and flavorful combinations. Â My favorites are the Cheese Louise and the Thai Chicken. Â The thai chicken has a peanut sauce instead of a traditional red sauce, along with carrots and other thai-inspired veggies. Â The cheese louise is covered in bacon and riccota, obvs it is going to be a winner!
Don't miss out on the health nut salad. Â A garlicky and healthy (other than the cream-filled dressing) appetizer choice, the health nut is a salad chock full of pine nuts, tomatoes, red onions, broccoli, and cucumber, all mixed together with Jockamo's homemade garlic dressing.
The breadsticks are OK - the ONLY reason I order the extra carbs is to partake in the house creamy parmesan dip. It's heavenly. Â If you don't want breadsticks, buy a side of the creamy parmesan to dip your pizza crust in. Your taste buds will thank me.
You know the amazing pizza you had five years ago? Â From that place off the beaten path, in a completely obscure location you can never remember the name of? The kind of pizza that's so good, so mind blowing, it becomes your pizza "happy place?"
Jackomo's is that pizza. Â
It's the hometown pizza joint high school teams go to celebrate, a young couple goes on a third date --and this 30 year old went to get type 2 diabetes. Â
I ate my f*cking weight in Jackamo's pizza. Â Along with my partner and our local Nap-town friend, we inhaled a 16" 1/2 Thai Chicken, 1/2 Pomodoro. Â
Should you throw caloric-caution to the wind - absolutely go for the breadsticks. Â The sticks themselves are decent, but the dipping sauces take center stage. Â I had the creamy parmesean and their traditional sauce. Â Put. It. In. Your. Mouth!
The tomato sauce here is perfection. Â It's got a bright oregano & tomato flavor with a very subtle, spicy finish. Â I have no idea what's in the Thai Chicken, but know this: we had a white-knuckle round of Rock, Scissors, Paper to determine the winner of the last piece.
(I was not that person, which in hindsight - is for the best.)
Tried six kinds of pizza, all were amazingly good. Â The menu offers pizza combinations that most folks never dreamed of, but should try. Â All the ingredients were fresh. Â And beneath all those toppings is a crust good enough to eat by itself. Â
I live three and a half hours away, but am planning to go back to Jockamo's soon.
Eat here all the time. Once of my favorite pizza places in Indianapolis. Great selections of toppings/specialty pies. Similar to Bazbeaux but everything seems to be a few bucks less. CHEESE LOUISE and BBQ are my favorite pizzas here, but I haven't had any that I didn't like.
Don't dig the breadsticks. They are bready instead of doughy. Like the health nut salad. Sometimes they overload it with pine nuts which I love. Super quick on the refills.
Oh so good. My extended family and I met up here because we love pizza and wanted to try something new. I'd been to bazbeaux before and heard that this place had a similar philosophy so I picked the place. I also needed an environment at could accommodate my unpredictable toddler. The pizza was great and offered menu options for those that like to play it safe as well as offering something for people that are a little adventurous with their food. The staff was very friendly. The restrooms were very clean and the atmosphere was inviting with local art available for sale on the wall. This is a great example of local flare at delivers on quality and innovation. If you're willing to drive just a couple more minutes past Greenwood, you'll be well rewarded.
Review Source:Just call me the duke! Why???
Because I'm an addict!!!
I have to order more than one appitizer because I can't just settle for the AWESOME hummus plate because their breadsticks are as equally as AWESOME!!!
I struggle to decide if I want a pizza or salad so I usually get both!!! Yes, BOTH I can't say "no" to either. The slaughter house Pizza is one of the best things to ever happen to a pizza house! Speaking of house, try that salad too!
I Â afraid to get addict to a sandwich do I haven't gone there but my friends and family tell me they are "rock star" good!
Check this place out and be prepared to get blown away! A+
The pizza was great! We had a salad that was drenched in dressing, way too much , and when we ordered we asked for a small and were not informed that they only have one size. They took it off our bill. bread sticks were good with the parm cheese dipping sauce. Overall a good place to try.
Review Source:I'm all Jacked up on Jockamo's Upper Crust PIZZA.
Large variety of pies to choose from and even more micro brews. Â The Slaughterhouse 5 is an awesome combination of meats to satisfy the manly appetite, but don't stop there. Â Try a bit of the South with the Po Boy with shrimp or crawfish, or the traditional Margharita with fontina chz, zesty tomatoes, fresh basil and a bite of garlic. Â If you are in a pinch for some Mexican flair, dig your teeth into the Seven Layer pizza...it is like seven layer bean dip on pizza crust. Â
If the Specialty pizzas don't hit the spot, get creative and make your own from a wide selection of fresh veggies, meats, cheeses, and sauces. Â You're bound to perfect your own combination and once you have it nailed...name it yourself.
If pizza is not for you, then no worries! Â Jockamo has unique salads and sandwiches to choose from as well.
Pizzas range from $10 on up with the average being $15 for a good sized medium that is enough for two to share. Â You won't leave disappointed with this South Side Hot Spot.
Great to have a high-quality restaurant down on Indy's south side.
If you are going for lunch, they'll have you in and out in no time thanks to their daily lunch special, but this place really shines when you have time to sit down and peruse their diverse and creative menu. Â Try some of the more unusual combinations, and they are sure to be a hit. Â Ingredients are locally sourced when possible, and Fresh-Local-Beer is available on tap from Sun King.
This is by far my favorite pizza joint in the Indy area. Â The pizza is solid- real, gooey mozzarella cheese helps. Â Beer selection is great (anywhere with Sun King on tap gets extra points with me). Â I also can never resist getting a salad with one of their homemade dressings- they are all ridiculously good! Â I have never had anything but great service here. Â Once I even left a $10 tip for the busboy because he was so attentive! Â Definitely would recommend.
Review Source:This is by far the best Pizza in Greenwood. They load on the toppings which makes up for the slighly above average prices. I recommend dining in because the atmosphere is really cool. You know the place is good when there is a short wait even on a Wed night. It's not a small joint either. Most of the decor is fromn local artists and you can puchase it!
Review Source:I've been a fan of Jockamo since they opened on the east side a few years ago and was happy to hear they were coming to my side of town. Unfortunately, we don't get to that part of Greenwood very often and I can be at that "other" pizza place on Mass Ave in the same amount of time it takes me to get here.
That said, it is a nice option if we happen to be in the area. The pizza is solid and the topping selection is good. Honestly, is there anything that is not made better by putting smoked gouda on top? A milkshake? No, I think I'd like that too.
My first ever experience at Jockamo was the Slaughterhouse Five and if you're a meat fan, this is the pie for you.
The lunch specials are good. A slice of pizza, a side salad, and a soda for $5. Friday's slice was spinach and feta. Hell yeah.
Discovered Jockamo when some friends I knit with decided to meet here once a month for a knit group. The staff is very accommodating to us and pretty much gave "the knitters" the whole back section of the place.
The food is really good. It's not the best pizza I've ever had but it's definitely worlds better than anything I've had from the chain places. Sandwiches are really good too. Having Sun King beer on tap doesn't hurt either.
This pizza is disgusting!! Tastes like it was made on a giant saltine cracker. We told the manager that the food was subpar and he said he'd take care of our bill. As soon as he walked away, the waitress brought it right back out! Staff was not personable at all and the manager was a joke!
Review Source:The pizza is ok. But the few times I've been in here the service was lacking. At lunch today, the server guy seemed inexperienced and slow. We've waited over 15 minutes just for the check. Not a wise strategy to make the lunch time crowd wait an unreasonable length of time for the check. Hopefully they will improve.
Review Source:Being the duchess & all I guess it is time for a review :)
I adore the $5 lunch special!! Drink, slice, and salad!! That kicks Bazbeaux's ass!!
The food speaks for itself, go and get  a slice!
The servers are all friendly and attentive. I enjoy coming here by myself and with friends. I hope Greenwood supports them, independent restaurants can have a tough time here.
Keep up the good work!!
The pizza here is really good, very unique options. Â Our favorite is the Cheese Louise, four types of cheese, bacon, and onion. Â Great flavors. Â We've also tried the BBQ chicken and the Po' Boy with crawfish. Â There is a nice beer selection and I would advise anyone in the Greenwood area to give it a chance.
Review Source:My family and I just finished eating dinner here tonight and we liked it very much. The bread sticks are tasty, my wife liked her Greek salad and the pizza was delicious. This place has a great laid back feel to it, a nice looking bar and the service was excellent. If you are ever in the Greenwood area, give this place a try!
Review Source:My wife and I ate here tonight for the first time, and their pizza has become our favorite!!! Â If you love pizza with loads of toppings, this place is for you because they definitely do not skimp! Â The pizza tasted as great as it smelled if not better! Â They have a wide variety of pizzas, and they also have bread sticks, salads, and sandwiches. Â The staff was very friendly and made us feel very welcome! Â So, if you're looking for great tasting pizza you've got to try this place out...it's outstanding!!!
