I have heard from friends that this place is not so good. I walked in there and it was not attractive. go to the Mexican,Indian,or Japanese restaurants in the area.

Mediocre food, small portions, and Joe is just straight-up not a pleasant person. We got yelled at for asking if we could split the tab. If you're hungry for Italian, try Primo's.

I've been to Joe's 2 times and  that was more than enough.  The first time the bread sticks were so hard that I put them in my tool box in case I ever lose my hammer.  The lasagna was decent at best.

I always like to give places a second try so I went back.  This time I waited and waited and waited for my food even though I saw it sitting out .  I asked Joe twice about about and he rudely told me it wasn't ready.  Finally I said, "I think that's mine over there" and sure enough it was.  It had to be warmed back up when I got home.  Still tasted average.

Joe is not a very friendly person.  He thinks since he's from Brooklyn, that he needs to be rude.  I've been to Brooklyn multiple times and the people there are great.  Drop the act Joe!

A hole in the wall with terrific Italian food. The atmosphere sucks and you cannot always get in, but for Italian food close to that in Rome, this is the best in this area.

We haven't been to blowing rock in a few years and wanted to hit Psghetti's again, and saw it was closed. The yelp reviews looked good for Joe's, so we gave it a shot.
We have two young boys (4 and 14 months) and we got there early, and this was perfect (casual). You order at the counter and they bring the food to you.

Wow! I was very impressed and I'm picky about my Italian food. Ordered the house made fried mozzarella as an app...excellent!. Then, I had the spaghetti and house made hot sausage. Again, it was great. I could dip cardboard in their marinara sauce and eat it. We also got a small pizza that would rate a B+. Just high quality stuff...If they only had fresh made pasta...What they use is fine, but that would make it amazing. As far as drinks go, they only have two wine choices and some beer options, but it was good enough for me to drink  few glasses and drown out the noise of my kids

This is the embodiment of "never judge a book by it's cover". After three days and nights in Boone NC we didn't want to eat at a chain restaurant like everyone else.  We wanted Italian food but didn't know where to go.  We saw this place and decided to give it a shot.  It is  a whole in the hall with very little seating, more suited for take out.  But it was so worth the chance.  We've lived all over the world and have ate Italian food all over Italy and this is as close as it gets.  The food was of the best quality, the dessert was amazing and the owner actually came out and spoke with all the guest.  Unlike some prepackaged chain restraints, this places makes the food the minute you order it.  The prices seemed right for the area and this is a place that we will continue to visit when ever we are in the Boone area.

What can I say about Joe's?  This place has my favorite panini in the world.  Well, to be honest, he HAD my favorite panini (more on this in a moment).  Joe's is a small, locally owned and ran Italian restaurant.  Lunch here is like having lunch with your lovable, but grumpy Uncle Joe from Brooklyn (a native New Yorker...and his restaurant shows it!).  He fixes you food from the heart of his family...and it is great!

Having eaten here for years, I have tried many dishes...pizza, specials and others.  But...I have come to LOVE his Italian Panini (Ham, Salami, Cappacolla, Pepperoni, Provolone & Hot Peppers).  Whenever I am in the High Country, this is lunch #1...ALWAYS...till now.  Joe is expanding his restaurant...and changing his menu...he is removing the panini's from the menu!  I understand what he is doing and I look forward to his new place and menu...but...I miss my Panini.

Fortunately, he makes the same sandwich...just not as a panini.  And...who knew, I might actually like it even better!  Time will tell...as will the new part of the restaurant...

Wifey also likes Joe's...she gets the spaghetti with gravy...and really likes it as well...

I don't like Joe's, and I probably won't go back. I've been to Joe's and Paulocci's for food and found them both underwhelming. I've yet to try Casa Rustica, so I'll get back to you on that one. With Joe's my biggest problem is atmosphere. It's cold and unwelcoming, like a bad school cafeteria, and small to boot. You order at the counter and get your food on disposible plates with disposible utensils and have to refill your own drinks but only the tea and water is accesible. That being said, if the food was absolutely fantastic I could overlook all of that. But it's not. It's mediocore. While the sauce may be homemade I'm not sure about anything else. Furthermore, with all of the price shortcuts the place is obvously making with the comfort of the customer in mind you would think the dishes would be priced lower. However, the price is what I would expect to pay at a nice resturant. With regular dishes and silverware and servers. So for me, the whole experience just does not add up and, as a result, left a bad taste in my mouth. Make up your mind as to what your going to be but don't be money hungry to the point that the customers feel swindled.

As a resident of Boone, Joe's Italian Kitchen is my favorite spot for lunch and for pizza in Boone.  The food is consistently delicious, desserts are to die for, and the employees always treat me with respect and friendly service.  I think the salads are a bit overpriced for the size (so I could not recommend), but the lunch menu is great with personal pizzas, strombolies, and pastas.   My favorite is the Italian Combo Sandwich and "Death by Chocolate".  If you are looking for a quick meal, then Joe's is probably not your place, but if you want to enjoy a taste of NY Italian while in the mountains, then try Joe's.

Okay, I live in Winston-Salem now, but I spent 10 years of my life in Boone, and that's where I want to retire. Our little family spends as much time as possible in the High Country. And Joe's is my favorite Italian restaurant in the area. First of all, the food is yummy. The atmosphere is fun. And then there's Joe. He's a great Italian New Yorker who decided to open a restaurant in the South, much to our benefit. His strombolis are fantastic. Order anything with peppers--you can't go wrong. And he makes a to-die-for chicken philly. Oh, my. Now I want to go to Boone this weekend. Another reviewer said it was pricey, but for Italian in Boone, I have found Joe's prices to be on the extreme low end. I think you'll enjoy it. If you go, tell Joe that I said "hi."

Food was OK but a little pricey. You walk in & order at a counter. Food is brought to your table. Throw away your own plastic plates & toss your silverware into a water bucket on the way out.
