When you write a review on a place that other reviewers have trashed, but you had a great meal, you wonder if the others hit it on an off night, or we did? We had the fish with potato pancakes. I think the weakest part of the meal was the bread, which seemed a bit stale. I will say that when certain items are in plastic cups with covers, it seems tacky. But the cole slaw and tartar sauce were good.
I was a bit apprehensive about the place as I pulled in. I got both the YES!! / Uh-oh feeling when it appeared no one was there. It was almost 6:00 P.M., and there was only one couple dining, with maybe 6 people at the bar. Obviously, no waiting for a table. Â Still, when no one else is eating, you get a little nervous, wondering if the food is that bad. But no worries from me, I would definitely go back.
We sat at the bar after a recent baseball game. Â Arrive around 4:30. Â Ordered broasted chicken and onion strings at 4:45. Â Food arrived at the bar at 6:00. Â Many other burgers and sandwiches were delivered around the bar as we hungrily waited and drank our beers. Â No excuse for the amount of time we waited/wasted. Â Chicken was very good. Â French fries and wedges were lukewarm at best.
Review Source:Wow - this place is something else. You never know what kind of crowd it will be. They have volleyball and horseshoe courts here, so there are a lot of teams in summer. Or, it can feel like you might get randomly stabbed.
It's 100% Cudahy though, so you know there are going to be good domestic beer specials and random meat products for sale behind the bar.
