If you're looking for friendly service from hard-working people, quality of products and value, you're gonna be very happy when you stop in at Joe's Meat Market.
Sure, it can sometimes be a bit busily chaotic, it's modern but certainly not a gentrified joint, but their hearts are in the large variety of full sandwiches and rotating hot dishes they offer, and you'll always leave satisfied and stuffed. From Rigatoni Bolognese, to a roast beef sandwich, from an island themed chicken wrap to a cheesteak they'll serve you with a smile, and a bill that will leave you pleased.
I've  often ordered cuts of meat (for home grilling ) there, and they've been superb. I've also noticed that if you have a catering order they're always willing to do what it takes to make sure you have it when and how you've requested; even if it means they're in there at 5 a.m.! They take pride in the breads, ravioli and side products they offer, and they treat you right. I've been going there for 20+ years and
Joe's just keeps getting better. It's an everyman (and woman) kind of place, the kind you just can't find enough of these days! Bravo!
This is a great deli with high quality meats, sandwiches, salads, pasta, etc. Definitely a benefit to have in a little town like So. Bound Brook. Â I really like their Swedish meatballs over buttered noodles (wow) and the Bacon cheeseburger is one of the best around. Â If you're "a meat guy", you'll love their sandwiches - The meat is piled high on every sandwich. Â Prices are very reasonable. Â There's limited parking and it can be tough to get a spot during lunch hour. You can call ahead with your order to minimize the wait. Â Delivery service is fast and they will deliver relatively small orders (10.00). Â They're also open late most nights (until at least 8:00 PM). Â Definitely try this deli, you will not be disappointed!
Review Source:First time ordering from Joe's. I got a crab cake sandwich, cheeseburger, and chili dog, delivered, so it was a greasy-spoon sort of affair, but they offer many other options that I have no experience with. Firstly, thank you Joe's, for having delivery service for this kind of food, there are no such options in this area.
Onto the food. Value, flavor, and portion were tremendous. They cooked the burger mid-rare like I asked, and that far exceeds what I expect from places around here (always overcooked). Chili tasted like it was made in-house, flavorful, onion-y, perhaps cumin? They put two large franks in the chili dog--shockingly spectacular! Jury's out on the crab cake because I was too full to have a bite!
You cannot ask for more given the location of this wonderful place. There's nothing like it nearby, definitely better than any greasy-spoon New Brunswick spot. I will continue to explore their menu (slowly, or I'll gain 20 pounds), and report back if anything changes. But at the moment they've won me over. Their food speaks for itself.
It's so nice to have something to brag about in Bound Brook other than 25 Burgers. The icing on the cake would be if they'd be open later, because this would easily be my late-night pig-out spot. Joe's, please consider late hours, I'd probably be kinda drunk, but I swear I'd behave!
The best big sandwiches around. Great prices. Awesome daily specials Mon-Friday and monthly specials as well to mix it up a bit. You can even order a burger that can easily feed 3 people.
Amazing French Toast platter. Just the best big breakfast you will get for the price for miles.
You can pick up gormet pasta and ravioli, Â here as well.
They used to have a bakery, and they since converted it to a pizzareia. We loved it at first, but I feel like something changed. We since stopped ordering from that side of the house. I hate to say anything negative though, as the staff are all really nice and courtious.
So based on other reviews, I tried the meatball sub & lasagna. Both were great - the lasagna out of this world. However, the 2nd & 3rd time I went back for the lasagna it was just alright. The meat in the lasagna was very inconsistent - the first time it was delicious and tender. The last 2 times it was not - hard to explain, but it wasn't nearly as delicious.I just wish it were more consistent b/c that first time with the lasagna was heaven!
Other items I have tried weren't that impressive (cheese steak, pizza).
UPDATE: Just went back for a 4th time for the lasagna and meatballs, and in both cases the meat was not very good again. :-/ I give up.
I love deli sandwiches. I remember in third grade when I was still a newbie in America and bought newbie lunches like Lunchables, this other kid was rocking this ginormous sandwich packed with layers of meat. So I punched that kid out and took his food.
Today, being the model citizen I am, I buy my own sandwiches.
Looking at the deli menu, half a hero goes for 6 bucks.
I thought holy cow, these are some NYC prices we got here. Then the lady handed me this BIG... thing that somehow was supposed to fit into my stomach. It made my third grade sandwich look like a loaf of white Wonderbread that nerds with glasses ate.
They give you an extremely generous cut of Boars Head. I asked for mayo and they spread the living hell out of my bread. These people don't care about your ability to consume... they just stack them up.
So big. So good.
I went back the second day and got philly cheese burger. Back at the office everyone came around and asked me where I got it because it smelled that great. However, the philly cheese burger and fries totaled up to around 9 bucks, which wasn't as impressive value-wise as the deli sandwiches.
If you're in the neighborhood, definitely give this shop a visit.
This place is exactly what I was looking for when I moved to New Jersey, it's sad that it's taken me over a year to find it. Â Simply put: Â Great sandwiches made with Boar's Head cold cuts, great fresh sub rolls, huge portions, great service, great selection, even their pizza is excellent. Â I can't say enough about this place. Â It's close to perfect.
Review Source:Gluten free pizza! Â I stop in Joe's from time to time because you can't find better hamburger patties anywhere, and I also love his potato salad. Â It's always crowded, so apparently everyone else in town loves the place too. Â Last time I went in, I noticed the front section had changed from serving ice cream to serving pizza. Â Good thing I read the fine print - any pizza can be made gluten free for 3 bucks extra. Â If you are gluten intolerant and the only place you've been finding gluten free pizza is the freezer section of a grocery store, now you are in luck. Â I found the gluten free crust to be excellent; fresh tasting, thin, crispy, evenly cooked, no bad aftertaste (as many gluten free foods have), and tasty enough that I was tempted to eat a whole small pizza in one sitting. Â I had the market broccoli and the toppings were great too. Â The regular pizza looked good as well, which my husband had, but I didn't taste that, just smelled it.
Joe's is also stocking quite a few of the better gluten free products, so if you haven't stopped by to check out what's going on and you're complaining that you can't find gluten free products locally, now you know - so go!
Joes now has pizza and it's very good. Another great addition to Joe's. We got the Veggie Supreme which had mushrooms, peppers, onions, and broccoli and the Grandma Pie which was thin crust with fresh mozzarella, marinara, and basil. The supreme was packed with veggies and the crust was crispy. Only $16 for the large. The grandma had huge chunks of garlic and was very thin crust which I love. A little soggy, but not to bad and it was only $12. For the first day of having pizza they made it look easy.
Review Source:I have been coming to Joes for at least 10 years. I don't know what the other reviewer is even talking about, joe's has the best meat of any butcher shop in new jersey. Â Every holiday I get a bone in prime rib and it's always off the hook good. Â Fresh ground beef is so fresh and lean, it's the only place I buy meat, never ever a traditional grocery store. Â Their subs are awesome!!! Â Joe and his wife are so nice and make us feel special whenever my family and I are in. Â The staff is friendly and the store is really nice. Â joe's is a gem.
Review Source:My very favorite place! Â I've been going there for years and haven't had one bad sandwich yet. Â And for my birthday, my husband got me their vegetable lasagna which is totally out of this world! Â Joe and Dolly are so helpful and sweet. Â I've referred a lot of people to Joe's and everyone is a fan.
Review Source:I am such a huge fan of this place. Â I typically go here for the premade lunch specials they have right next to the register. Â My go to sandwich is the Chicken Special (Chicken, fresh mozzarella, red peppers). Â On Thursdays they have a great roast beef special. Â My all time favorite is the the Italian Porketta sandwich. Â Although, I'm not sure if they make it everyday.
Review Source:Joes breakfast and subs are outstanding, for anyone in the Somerset/Bound Brook area its worth the trip down. Â Service is great, Joe is always behind the counter. Â If you need something special from the butcher shop he will talk you through the best cut of meat and hook you up. Â Joe uses real Taylor ham, sliced thick, the way it should be. Â Check it out.
Review Source:If you are in the Bound Brook/Bridgewater/Manville/Somerville area: This is one great sub shop! I am jealous that it is not in my neighborhood but I try to find tIme regularly to visit Joe's throughout the year for great subs/cold cut prices/fresh sausage.
Joe and his family are really nice people and I dont mind giving my $$ to a great mom/pop neighborhood establishment instead of Subway or any other chain anyday!
The Italian Sub is delicious. A whole Sub is huge so be prepared to either bring 1/2 home and eat it later or open up your pants button if you plan on eating the whole thing at one of the 6-8 tables that you can eat at inside. Expect about 2" + thick of quality deli meats/cheest on your sub! I am a real sub/hoagie/zep/grinder nut and can eat one of Joe's whole subs in one sitting. But believe me: I definitely get looks from anyone sitting at the tables during lunch when I sit down with my whole sub to eat it there! Im not an onion fan so I always have them hold the onions, but to make sure to have it with oil/vinegar/roasted red peppers. I also dont have it with tomatoes (I also just dont like to order anything with tomatoes in NJ during the fall/winter months when they are out of season) when I am having it with roasted red peppers. But that is just me...:) 1/2 Subs average $6.00/whole $12.00. It may be a bit pricey for the whole, but it is definitely large and the quality is great.
There are lots of hot sub specials like Chicken with Roasted Peppers/Fresh Mozzarella with Balsamic Vinegar (excellent!) and Sausage Subs (Joe makes his own hot/sweet sausage).
I also purchase fresh made hot/sweet sausage to go (you have to call him early in the day or a day early to order and pick up because he can run out of it) and it is very good. So much better/fresher than buying it at the supermarket! He also makes fresh keilbasa too.
His prices for cold cuts/deli meats and cheeses are also very reasonable. If you go to the supermarket, be prepared to pay $9.00 per pound. Joe's deli meat prices average $2-3 per pound less than the supermarket prices for Boars Head.
Joe is also a butcher and has other meats you can purchase as well. I havent ordered anything except subs/sausage so I can assist anyone here. But his meats look excellent in the cases.
I have been coming to Joe's for about 15 years now. It has always been consistent/fresh and a great value for the money based on the quality and the size of the subs.
Another great neighborhood mom/pop Sub Shop/Meat Market that you always look forward to keeping in business year after year!
