I hadn't been to Cowley's in over 20 years. Â Then a friend suggested we try it out when nearby Basement Burger Bar's wait was too long. Â And I'm glad to be reacquainted with this lovely Irish pub. Â
Our waitress was the model of good service. Â She greeted us immediately and took our drink order, delivered it promptly and then waited patiently while we chatted for a while before looking at our menus. Â We were made to feel right at home.
When we finally ordered and our food arrived, it was delicious. Â Hubby and I each ordered the cod boxty. Â Authentic and so good we had to stop talking to concentrate on the food. Â Our friends ordered the portobello salmon salad to split. Â It was plenty big enough for the two of them, and they both enjoyed it.
I'm glad to have rediscovered this excellent establishment in downtown Farmington. Â I don't plan to let another 20 years go by before visiting again!
The second floor is great on the weekends for local bands. Â The crowd seems to be 50+ age group. Good drink and beer selection. Â Food is hit and miss though. Â The whiskey salmon is good but a really small piece and lots of potatoes. Â I would recommend to cover the food plates when transporting them from the kitchen to the upstairs, just seems like the food would be hotter. Â The only other negative is parking, best bet is to park across the street in one of the store lots.
Review Source:A great place to get a beer after seeing a show at the Civic. I've seen probably seen 50 Amp Fuse more times there then I want to admit. Wait times can be hit or miss, but they have Labatt on tap, and its with in walking distance of my parents house when I stay there during the holidays.
