I was lucky to get taken out to lunch by my boss and coworkers today at the Skyline Club. Â The service was outstanding from the minute we walked in the door and were greeted immediately. Â We were seated at an awesome booth right next to the window with a beautiful scenic view (who knew Southfield was so green?!). Â
Our servers were attentive, but never annoying. Â I never had to ask for a refill of anything and didn't even notice when things appeared! Â
I ordered the Lobster Bisque to start. Â OMG. Â Big chunks of lobster and creme fraiche in a thick (but not too thick) and flavorful broth. Â I could've eaten a gallon of the stuff. Â I had some of my coworker's calamari - not at all chewy, just hot, not too much breading and very tender. Â My entree was scallops with parmesan risotto and spinach. Â It was very good, high quality scallops. Â Only complaint was the amount of liquid on the plate. Â I think it was from the spinach, but still made the plate a little un-appetizing in appearance. Â Not a huge deal, but a little surprising since everything else was perfectly displayed. Â
My coworkers chose a variety of meals - kobe burger, salmon, pasta dish and make-your-own salad. Â All enjoyed what they ordered. Â I had the chocolate lava cake for dessert. Â It was good, but not really anything special. Â Others had the key lime pie, which looked out of this world (obvious homemade graham crust - yum). Â Wishing I had gotten that instead!
Needless to say, I would be thrilled to enjoy another meal at the Skyline Club someday!
Did you even know there is a bar overlooking Southfield? Â You did? Oh. Well I didn't.
This place is very unique. I gave it 3 stars based on the amazing view. However, it really deserves 2 stars. The food really isn't that impressive and you can only eat at the bar. If you pay for a club membership, you have the privilege to eat there.
The cocktail menu really could use some updating too. I'm overly picky here, I admit. But the back bar is bare and the cocktail menu relies on vodka way to much. Â
Go for the view and bring a flask and package of crackers.
