I will not ever go to this place again. Hal Sparks was AWESOME! but the place was not. Never once did a wait staff ask us if we needed anything. We were sitting in a row with another couple. The wait staff was flagged, someone from the row actually got up and asked for a wait person and was told one would be over in a minute. That minute was the entire show from start to finish. It was clear they could see us, but chose to not wait on us for whatever reason. When we talked to the manager after the show, he said he would take care of his staff, wanted to know how he could make it better for us but then argued about what that would be and defended his staff saying that the area we were in must not have had its "light indicator" on and we should have grabbed someone. REALLY????? The place was not even half full--so we were easily seen. We will never being going to this place again. If you choose to, you may want to bring your own snacks!

Great venue and food choices! What a concept! Something you just don't get at some other comedy places. We had quesadillas and spring rolls, both were food service-y but tasty. We only drank water or Diet Coke. Service was very good, we sat in front and were always nice to the wait staff. We know this place is new and the staff is, too, so we obviously cut them some courtesy slack, as you should do.
It's nice to have another comedy club in the area but they really need a big sign on the post to the Star Theatre. And on the outside of the building.
Like the comedian himself, we drove around and around until we found it!
We saw Hal Sparks, who I know personally and never miss when he comes to town. The show was great, the openers were fine, I won't rankle anyone about subject matter. Everyone's got a different style. We were there to see Hal but like movie previews, it's always interesting, at least, to see someone else's gig.
We got to sit right in front and of course, hang out with him in back at the end, as we left the theatre.

We will definitely be back! Great place!! Get Jim Breuer and John Fugelsang and Aisha Tyler!!

I have now been to the Comedy Zone twice. It's time to review it.

First, I think they are trying to find an identity. This comedy club is located in a spot that has housed several failed businesses such as a jazz club, a club-club and others. This has the potential of being something nice. I believe "The Comedy Zone" is a national franchise type of deal. It started out here, as the "Detroit Comedy Zone"... but located in Southfield in the Southfield Star AMC Theater. I believe it's now coming to terms with it's location and going by the "The Comedy Zone of Southfield" or just "The Comedy Zone".  In other cities, it's "The Comedy Zone of ________", so that makes better sense.

The lobby has a will call window/box office, but I usually purchase mine via Ticketmaster. The seating is General -- you're led to a table that you pretty much get to choose. They also have "Rail seating", which is just seating up against a small/short wall divider thing that serves as your counter. Problem with that is, it's only inches from the person on the other side of that wall, plus your knees, depending on how tall you are, might be uncomfortable pressed up against the wall divider thing.

You can order food & drinks. They have a menu that consists of chicken wings, french fries, salads, etc. The drinks are a bit pricey and you need to specify if you want a well drink or top shelf... if not, you automatically get top shelf, BUT the pours are strong. The waitstaff seems to be learning. Among other things, we had to ask for napkins... that should come with not only the food, but the drink, too.

The performers have been good and it seems like they have good comics coming to the venue. So far, we've seen Charlie Murphy and Brandon T. Jackson.
The second time we went (Brandon T. Jackson), it was a rainy night not only on the outside, but on the inside. The roof had a leak and we could visibly see a great deal of leakage coming from the ceiling. That was a great topic for the comics. They also lost power for a couple of minutes due to thunder, I believe.

I'd go back -- it's a nice something to do for a weekend.
