We used to live in Yorktown and would travel to Juan's.

We now live up in the Courthouse district and still enjoy the fine Mexican food.

The servings are very ample and the service is great.

It's both a great venue for the family or a couple.

If you are looking for great food and service, you've found it.

Food at Juan's is great, atmosphere is family friendly, service is excellent, and for whomever is complaining about parking-clearly that indicates how much everyone loves this place!

I've been going to Juan's for a little over two years now. Friends keep telling me "they've improved" or "we'll go when they aren't busy" every time trying to convince me I'll have a better experience, and every time is worse than the last.

Coming from Texas I know I shouldn't expect Mexican to be the same as down there, but the food quality at Juan's is just not there at all.  I paid about $4.00 for a microwaved can of Campbell's Tortilla Soup tonight covered with cheap cheese and greasy fried flour tortilla bits, tortilla soup is a basic food item, its easy to make, and can keep well for a day or two, why are they serving re-heated garbage when something fresh and home made is so easy to make. On top of that my friend's Fish tacos were most certainty not fresh, the foul scent of long frozen fish was so pungent I could smell it from the other end of our table for six, in an area famous for it's seafood why would you serve frozen fish, heck there is a local seafood distributor not but a mile away. I have a few other complaints but I'll stop there on the food.

Next is the atmosphere, while the restaurant is certainly well decorated and pleasant, but when a fair amount of people are seated it is extremely loud inside. Tonight was also Magic night, which my party accidentally went to finding a magician attempting to pander to a crowd who was not all too interested. Granted it was great for the kids, it seemed as though the performer had brought his family and all were over eager to applause, yell, and obnoxiously clap at the most minor trick. It was enough to make me want to leave within five minutes of being seated, however we arrived at the tail end of the show, and it was finished before I was too aggravated.

Service is also something Juan's lacks, I've never seen so small a restaurant have such a large amount of wait staff who all seem to be happy to ignore customers, stand around, gossip, and chat with the manager who also dosen't seem to care until you are paying. There are one or two employees who seem to work, but its not enough to get me to forget about the three servers who stared me in the eye while I tried to ask for assistance only to ignore my inquiries. What I don't understand is who thought a restaurant that could be effectively run with a wait staff of four (during busy hours) needs such a large amount of staff, there are four hostesses alone, let alone the rest of the staff.

Another big issue at Juan's is parking, don't expect to park at the restaurant after 6:30pm, the parking lot is more than likely full, you'll have to park at the bank next door despite the signs that say don't. This is not Juan's fault, but it is another problem that only good service and quality food can get past, but neither of those things are present at Juan's.

All-in-all tonight is my last time at Juan's.

Been here for breakfast and dinner.  Dinner was pretty good. Table side guacamole was pretty good and the menu had some interesting choices.   I've eaten at lots of very good Mexican restaurants throughout the Southwest and this one is not quite there.  But, if  you have a hankering for American Mexican food around Gloucester Point this is a good choice.

The breakfast was another story.  I was disappointed that there were few Mexican choices and most items were typical American breakfast fare.  I'll try them for breakfast again in a couple of months, but won't have high hopes.

Juan's is one of the most creative, guest friendly restaurants in the area. The tableside guacomole is delicious and now they are doing a Latino style bananas foster at the table. Have to try that the next time I visit.

i visit Bena, VA several times a year and always wanted to try Juan's.  Went last night w a friend and we enjoyed our visit.  We didn't order dinner because we just wanted a lite snack.  However, the guacamole (which is made fresh at your table) was EXCELLENT.....the best i've ever had.  The cheese dip was just ok, wouldn't order again....very bland.  Salsa was ok, chips were good.  Service was very good.

The food was really good. Everything about it was well-executed. Definitely tex-mex though. We had dinner there but I was pleased to see huevos rancheros on the breakfast menu, which I've not eaten at a restaurant since I lived out west.

My one complaint was the service. Our waitress went MIA for a little bit at the end of the meal so we were sitting there unable to order our dessert. It worked out in our favor though because it made extra room in our stomachs for the fried ice cream, which was very good.

Generally excellent food . There are some dishes that are not your typical chain mexican restaraunt fare.  Try to hit their specials - FajitaRita night, Hell night (spicy food specials) etc. - check out their facebook page. They are also one of the few places open for breakfast south of the courthouse area.

I'm an out-of-towner and was looking for something other than the ubiquitous chain restaurants that have taken over the entire Rt. 17 corridor and I happened to spot this place on Yelp. I figured I'd give Juan's a go, and overall it was pretty solid family Mexican place.

On the plus side, the prices were reasonable. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly.  My order - a steak burrito (about $10) - took a while, but that didn't appear to be the norm. Dinner came with the standard free chips and salsa and some other mayonnaise-like dip that I've never seen before.  (Stick with the salsa.)

On the negative side, I ordered a house margarita (about $5) and was disappointed with it. It was weak, made with a very sweet off-the-shelf mix, and was served in a beer glass. In the future, I would stick with beer. I was also surprised that there were no carnitas burritos or tacos.

Still, I'm glad I stopped in and I'd return.
