Kat Shack is a little sports bar in Matawan. Â The clientele is predominantly locals. Although its a pretty small place, it's decorated nicely with high ceilings which makes it seem bigger. There is a normal sized bar, a few high top tables and a pool table. Â There is also a juke box and several good sized flat screen tvs. The drinks are reasonably priced. I did notice that the soda, which is dispensed from a gun, is ALWAYS flat. Â Since I drink mixed drinks, this is definitely an issue. Â The service is hit or miss. Â The bartenders always seem to be tending to the locals/regulars and somewhat ignoring anyone who is not. Â They do serve food, but I've never seen anyone actually eating. Â I think I saw someone eating a pretzel once.
Review Source:Its BAR FOOD so i wasn't expecting the best food but....
For some reason it was freezing in there, the thermo read 69 degrees so its was a chilly dining experience.
buffalo chicken wrap = wayyyyy to much sauce, it was drenched and overpowering
fries/onion rings = a ok
"blazing asian chicken wings" = just tasted like sweet soy sauce paste and was not "blazing" at all
Chicken fingers = over fried
Chuck chester? Roast beef sandwich = flavor didnt seem balanced and beef tasted very salty and.....not so fresh
However, the service was great, no complaints there, quick and attentive.
Might go back....maybe for drinks because i heard the bar scene is great.
My buddy and I came in for a couple of drinks and some football.
The place is small. Â It has a bar and a few tables. Â We first went to a table which had some menus on it. Â We waited about 5 minutes and got a seat at the bar since nobody even looked in our direction.
We had a few beers and some food. Â I had the buffalo chicken wrap. Â It was good. Â Loads of buffalo sauce on it though. Â The fries were good. Â The bartenders were ok. Â Basically they wanted nothing to do with anyone unless they had an empty drink. Â It literally took us 15 minutes to get someone to come over for food.
