Kay's Wine Bar & Bistro

Ididn't really like this place.  I didn't try the wine though and I guess the cleverly selected rarely seen wines are the biggest feature of the place.  But the food, although carefully thought out and well designed by a well meaning chef, just wasn't very good in my opinion.

I never give one star....but this is my second time so I'm giving Kay's the benefit of the doubt.

We arrived on a Friday night early for our reservation....the wait staff was gracious and found a seat for us immediately.

As earlier reviews indicate, Kay's is not going to get points for ambience...but that's not why you go!  You go for the food and wine - that's it!  

It all started out quite well with the Haberno BBQ Pork Rib Sampler.  Unbeliveably good.

But then it went down hill.  Three of us ordered the trout that was breaded with pecans.  The fish was dry and with the additions of the nuts it felt like I was cutting into my mouth with each bite.  One of us got the rib eye...it literally looked like a peice of meat with bbq sauce smothering it over the top.  I didn't taste it myself, but it looked far from appealing.

Rumor has it that there is a new chef at Kay's.  I hope he figures it out because I really, really want to like this place!
