Hmmm... I'm so tempted to suggest that you read my review of the Kings Castle, applying all that you learn from it to this place, apart from the bit about The Kings Castle being up for lease... this place has pipped them to the post, and is now under new management. Seeing as there's no 'institute' in KC's name, I guess we are going to have to put up with more of the same! (you'll get the joke if you actually do read the thing I've written on The Kings Castle.

I don't like these live sport, Karaoke joints... they hold no appeal whatsoever... I just wish that my friends felt the same way. Every so often they'll invite me to meet up, and can't see me blanch over the phone at the mere mention of going to a sports bar. Thankfully this one is less raucous than The Kings Castle in my experience, but still, I could never declare honestly that a 'good time was had by all' after visiting it.

They do reasonable food, and also operate as a B & B, but the fact that offer 'long stay' makes me wary!

Hmmm....two stars or three? I leaned more towards the 3 stars and here's why.

    1. Location is close to work which means those after work happy hours aren't to far!
    2. There's a lot of parking which is great for groups.
    3. There's a lot of space inside. My coworkers and I were able to put random tables together to fit our needs.
    4. The number of TVs with all you can watch sports. Great combo: alcohol, food and sports!
    5. The chips and salsa are good and excellent washed down with their drink specials.
    6. The ultimate reason for the 3 stars rather than the two is they have shuffleboard!!!

Now why did I toggle between the 2 and 3 stars well...
    1. Service wasn't the greatest. It took awhile for us to get our waitresses attention at times and the place wasn't even half full. It seemed easier just to make the orders at the bar and bring it back to the table rather than wait for her to come around.
    2. The food wasn't all that great but I guess it's your typical bar food. Coworkers said that everything tasted like fish which was the main reason I stuck to the chips and salsa.
    3. The atmosphere was simply OK. Nothing great about it except for the TVs and shuffleboard. But maybe that's me and it all depends on what you're looking for, but the energy level when I went was kind of just blah.
    4. Bathroom...I know it's a bar and well this place is a bar and grill which means they serve food as well. The bathroom sometimes says a lot. No soap in the bathroom...kind of gross especially if employees are going into the bathroom and coming back out to handle food and drinks. Good thing I had some handi-wipes stuffed into my bag.

Yea there's more pluses than minuses in a sense, but I just wasn't feeling it too much. I'll go with coworkers if they choose the place, but it's not on the top of my list.

In an area devoid of options, KC's seems uninterested in filling the void.  I t has potential: plenty of parking, sports on TV and cold, cheap beer.  What more is needed? Right?

Well, KC's is like the guy you meet that has a dead fish handshake.  Looks nice, can carry a good conversation, but when you shake his hand it is like holding a dead, cold fish.  And ultimately, that is all you remember about the encounter and something that will probably never change.

There food is fair.  The buffalo burger is pretty decent.  Their fries are actually a prime model for frozen potato products.  Their chicken fingers are terribly over cooked.  Their wings are breaded, which is suspect.

One plus, it no longer smells like a recently exposed prison septic tank.
