This review is for the restaurant downstairs...

Haven't been here in a few years.  A short time ago they had a fire which resulted in a renovation and supposedly a new menu, so we thought we'd give it another go.  Big mistake.

How does a cup of corn chowder come to the table with film on it?  Really.  Scoop to serve?  It had to have been sitting under a heat source or something.  Bland, tasteless.

Steamed clams on special.  Ordered them.  They were good, but, again, bland.  The "butter" was an oil/margarine blend, not butter.  For an Irish Pub, though, how about kicking things up a level - like steaming the clams with Guinness or something to give it an Irish twist.  Lazy.

Daughter ordered the thanksgiving meal.  Potatoes bland, under-seasoned with watery, bland gravy.  Stuffing was box/stove-top style.  Not good.

I ordered a cheeseburger.  Waitress didn't ask about my temperature preference, and walked away, so I had to call her back to tell her that I wanted it medium-well.  It came to the table well done.  My wife's french fries never made it to the table, although it did make it onto the bill.  Disorganized.

Even with this many problems, I thought of just writing a letter to the owners. However when I was paying, a woman who was either the manager or one of the owners (she was handing out paychecks) was scolding a waitress that she believed had given a customer free gravy on her mashed potatoes.  Yes.  That's right.  At this restaurant you have to pay extra for tasteless watery gravy if you want something on top of your mashed potatoes.  The woman said, "When you go to a restaurant and ask for gravy, you should expect to pay for it.  It doesn't come free."  The waitress asked "how much" and the woman replied, "50 cents.  It's 50 cents."  A moment later, the waitress realized that it had, in fact, been added to the bill - and the computer charged "35 cents"  So the waitress was yelled at (in front of customers no less) for nothing, and the manager even didn't even know the right price."

This was the final straw for me.  I'm convinced that they're going through the motions and don't actually care about their customers.  I won't be back.

This is a review of the upstairs portion of the resteraunt. The area was ok at best it was a rectangle bar, so it had good flow. How ever I was kinda surprised to see kids and them offering wii games on certen days, not that having a gaming night isnt but but allowing kids in a PUB area isnt a good choice.

I had the rubin with some Boston Luger.  The robin was very good I liked it but the bear tasted like crap. then again Not there fault, the issues is the service was a bit slow. Other then that a Ok place.

I am not a "foodie" by any means but I do know bad food when it's served to me!  On a recent venture into this "restaurant" with my husband, I ordered eggplant parmasean.  I truly regret not sending it back to the kitchen.  It was horrible!  At best, it was from a frozen package that suffered from freezer burn.  It was chewy and the peel that was left on was uneatable.  We will not return.

Food is decent and portions are good.  Friendly staff.  However, find another place for breakfast.  The service is disorganized and the wait is forever.  We were in the place for 2 hours for a simple breakfast that any other well run place would have only taken 30 minutes.  Management needs to train the staff better.  Oh well, we were told to run for the hills as we walked iby another couple.  Shame on us for not heeding the advice.

got the pot roast, they literally drowned my whole meal is too salty gravy, and i hate gravy. could barely eat it, potatoes were lumpy, meat was way way too salty. corn was mushy. this place is about as irish as frank sinatra. decor is lame. staff were friendly, food was cheap but not good at all. very very dissapointed. will not be going back again. i cant believe people actually gave good reviews to this place.

Four of us went to the Kerrymen for lunch on Sunday.  This is a review of the restaurant (downstairs) only, not the bar which is upstairs.  Simply put, the Kerrymen is a disappointment on many levels.

First, there's nothing Irish about this place except maybe the green plastic tablecloths.  Despite the tag line about it being a piece of the Emerald Isle, a menu full of Lasagna, Chop Suey, and Shrimp stir fry doesn't make me want to come back for St. Patricks Day.  I'm not sure that a few cardboard shamrocks on the wall would do it, but something ought to make me think of Ireland.  A little Celtic music maybe?

Second, there's the ambiance.  There's nothing happening here and this place apparently hasn't been refurbished in forever.  It was clean, but it wasn't anything to look at.  And there was only one person in the place that seemed to be under 50, a kid who was out to lunch with (I'm guessing) grandma.  There's nothing wrong with a restaurant full of old-timers, it just looks like the patrons are the same age as the decor.  The good news is that was quiet and peaceful.  If there's one thing about old people, they're usually well behaved in public.

Third, there's the food.  It's okay but nothing special.  The chicken parm was in a surprisingly spicy sauce.  The stir fry had a serious amount of old fashioned sweet and sour sauce in it.  The salads looked big and the pizzas looked decent too.  The food seemed to be right off of a 60's menu except for the prices, and they were still pretty good.

Fourth, service was slow.  Maybe this was the kitchen's fault because once the food came, somebody checked on our water glasses every few minutes.  The problem was that the food took forever.  I'm not expecting the kind of speed that you'll find in a fast food restaurant, but I eat out frequently and I have a good idea how long things take.

Finally, parking is in an obscure lot down a side street, and it seemed to be unmarked.  Then after you park, the entrance is a small door on the side of the building.  This is the kind of place you have to know about before you go, and in my opinion you're not likely to go if you're familiar with it.

So did I like ANYTHING about the Kerrymen?  Yes.  It wasn't expensive.  The servers cared, though they didn't seem surprised that the food was slow in coming out of the kitchen.  And when the food comes out, it won't make you sick.  Wander in here hungry, and you'll leave with a full stomach and money left in your wallet.  That's worth something but next time I'm going to wander elsewhere.
