This place is THE DIVE BAR of all dive bars. Â Since its right outside Gunter's back gate, my class went out here twice so far. Â Always has been on Thursday nights for their $8 all you can eat wings. Â The first time we went there, just so happen everybody else had the same idea so we ended up packing the place up with about 50 people. Â Guess they were not expecting the crowd and ended up running out of wings in roughly an hour and a half. Â Also, we emptied all their draft beers...
All in all, its a chill place, just dont get your hopes up.
Way better than I expected...but I walked in with zero expectations. Everyone needs a somewhat smokey dive bar. This one is pretty big, has a pool table, dance floor, and a shuttle to take you back on base if that's where you're headed. Back gate to base closes at 10pm and please don't try to sneak thru on the train tracks unless your idea of fun is getting thrown on the ground and cuffed.
Review Source:The Keys or Key Largo as it is now called, is simply a dive bar. Â If you prefer drinks with more than two ingredients, fancy beer, or stylish lighting, this is not the place for you. Â Don't misunderstand me though, the Keys is a good little bar if you're meeting up with friends and just want to have a beer.
The people within the Keys changes wildly depending on when you are there. Â Right after work on weekdays, you'll most likely find people that work at Gunter AFB. Â A little later (especially on Friday nights) you'll find military officers in training that come from Gunter AFB looking for a good time.
When my Alabama tour guide said karoke, I was like oh - you can so count me out. For awhile, I refused to go. We parted ways, I went to dinner, got bored and then headed over here. It is literally right outside of a military base. Crazy.
I went on Friday - and it's karoke - well karoke intespersed with some of today's hits, the songs played covers all genres. It is divey. Nice staff, really a great place to bring groups, everyone can find someting they like. Personally, I found myself cracking up and some melanin challenged people trying to groove to that "lo lo" song. You have some singing talent, and then you have some none singing talent. Everyone is very respectful and encouraging. No one got too rowdy.
My guide advised that since it is in front of a military base, odds are very few people are local, so you have the chance to meet people from all over. Last time he said everyone he met was from Alaska.
I had a fun time - I am sure I would have had more if I had been more open minded earlier in the night.
By all means - round up your friends, the shy ones and the scene steallers - a good time will be had by all.
