Wednesday is the day for their Steamed Klams special - $5.50/doz. (regularly, $7.99 for Little Neck; $8.99 for Top Neck).

We had been planning on returning since our first visit for this special since we enjoy steamed clams (and now even klams).  While we thought they might have been just the slightest bit overcooked, they were very clean (VERY important) and flavorful.  We ordered a dozen of each variety to determine and compare any difference. Tops are slightly larger than Littles and should be expected to be tougher.  But we found the Tops to be slightly more tender.  Maybe that was why we thought the little necks were a bit overcooked.  A more than sufficient amount of melted butter was provided with each dozen.

In any event, you have to have beer to wash down both clams and klams so a couple of Sam Adams Oktoberfests were in order ($5.50/pt).  Contrary to our previous visit, the beers did not taste flat this time and Sam's seasonal has a lot of flavor.

My wife ordered another Reuben ($7.95) not remembering that it was what she had on our last visit.  It was just as messy as the last time but she thought it might have been somewhat greasy from the grilling this time.  Corned beef was lean and the french fries were still non-descript.

I tried a special of the night, a Meatball and Parmesan Sub ($8.95) with more non-descript fries.  The meatballs and sauce were very good if not slightly overpowered with oregano.

Service at a high-top by the bar was provided by a friendly bartender.  She kept an unobtrusive eye on us, checking our status and keeping our beers refilled as needed.  As an added note, there is a wonderful wooden stove near the bar to take the chill off your trip to the tavern.

The Klamsteam is a great dive to grab a burger and a beer.

The place is pretty far out of the way so if you probably have to be searching for it, and won't be randomly stumbling into this.

It's a dive bar with dive bar food and even one of those delightful troughs in the mens room.

    Cheap and satisfying.
