My Troy-born boyfriend has come here a zillion times in its various incarnations, but Friday popped my P4th cherry.
We'd come to see a friend's new band and ended up seeing one of the best shows I've ever seen locally. Turns out the other bands playing were made up of a group of people who live in New Paltz, where I lived before moving back to the Cap District. Even weirder, one of the bands is one that an old friend has started playing with down in Brooklyn. Sadly, she wasn't there to add her cello skills this time, but still, the show was fabulous all around.
What's funny about this place is that the front of the house is total dive bar style complete with popcorn machine, whilst the back is almost like a coffeehouse, minus the coffee. The bathrooms are expectedly filthy but the drinks are pretty cheap and there was no cover. The crowd is also surprisingly diverse, which was kind of nice to see. I'll definitely be back.
