We had not been to Knob Hill for a while, so we tried it again. Â known for their "fiddlers" and that is what I ordered. Â The cole slaw was creamy and very good. Â wife ordered Mahi with mango salsa, with a baked potato. Â I was satisfied with my order, but wife said the Mahi was very dry. Â The amount of salsa was not enough, so she asked for an additional serving. Â Her baked potato had been cooked in foil, which makes for a "funky" taste, and it is served with margarine, not butter. Â We both hate taking short cuts when preparing baked potatoes. Â If you check the menu, sour cream is an additional 50 cents. Â Somewhat disappointed with her meal, the capper was the charge of ONE dollar more for a tablespoon of mango salsa! Â Our bill was for nearly $40.00, but the $1.00 for the salsa was really penny-pinching. Â We probably will not return
Review Source:We came here to sit at the bar and get drinks after the Tin Fish dining debacle (see my review). This bar is small and dated and detached from the main dining room where we ate once before (see previous review) and upon entering it was like the music stopped as all the local regulars turned to stare at us because we apparently don't look or talk like the typical Newburghians. After our "warm" welcome, my husband ordered some craft beer on tap which I thought tasted nasty, and he didn't like it either. I wanted Belvedere on the rocks but they don't carry it, which is my vodka of choice, and I have discovered most bars and restaurants in Southern Illinois and Indiana do not carry it or even know what Belvedere is, as is par for the course down here. So I got Grey Goose on the rocks instead with regular olives (no blue cheese stuffed olives either). Â The icing on this piece meal night was when this big, nasty guy came up next to me and while picking my purse up off the barstool next to me asks me if it is my purse and before I can even answer he plops down right next to me, to which I wanted to say no it belongs to the invisible person in one of the other 4 empty barstools next to it that you chose to ignore. Â My husband is sitting on the other side of me laughing because this routinely happens to me wherever I go: the movie theater, plane, train, bus, or bar. Â If there are empty seats all around, someone will pass by all the vacant ones and sit right next to me in spite of my not so subtle glares or sighs, and it will be the woman with the whaling baby, the really obese person, the 20 questions asking person, the guy with all the gear, the person with the traveling pet, or the person that has to get up 45 times en route! Â Then this mannerless pig proceeds to order a water, a bowl of soup, and a glass of milk at the bar?!...um check please... Another one bites the dust!
Review Source:The food here is pretty good, I especially like the Greek salad and hot pizza bread. Â I would probably like it more if I weren't a vegetarian, but as it is there aren't a ton of entree options for me to choose from. Â The pizza is good, and they usually have veggie burgers if you ask for them, but they're not on the menu. Â I would give it more stars, but I'm not a fan of some of the employees, it seems most of the good ones have left or been driven off by the bartender (she's also driven-off many of the regulars too).
