It's about time I write a review about Edgewater. We went here in the fall, but I kept a few mental notes of our experience.
We went to Edgewater for a casual afternoon meal with friends who were also visiting. I'll go ahead and put the positive up front that the location is really nice and that the patio is perfect for a fall evening.
We found parking to be difficult with so many rules about where parking was and wasn't allowed. I was actually nervous almost our entire meal that we may have been in a spot that could theoretically be in a tow zone. Too hard to tell with all the signs and rules.
Service was all over the place when we went, lots of confusion about what tables were open and where our group of 7 could sit. I am glad it was sorted out and we were able to get a coveted table outside.
We had heard many good things about the brick oven pizza, so everyone at the table ordered with that in mind. A while after ordering (~10 minutes), our server came back frantically telling us that there was no more pizza dough and we started the process of reordering. We had been very hungry and I'm glad we had ordered appetizers, including a very good artichoke dip/fondue. After reordering different meals, our server once again came back to tell us that they had found more dough and could make our original orders.
This confusion was frustrating and caused our order to take much longer time to finally receive. We didn't notice it as much as we could of since the view of the river had us all very relaxed.
Anyway, the food ended up being pretty good and I would love to give the pizza another try at some point.
However, given the many other options in Newburgh along the water, it may be a while before I give Edgewater another chance.
