Roppongi Japanese Steak & Sushi

Well I'm about to give up on sushi in Evansville. At least in the area I stay in.

Roppongi. Nice look. Smelled slightly sour at the table. But I decided to give it a go.

It's a Monday, the place is empty. only 2 tables with guests.  Which is expected.  

I ordered a couple of nigiri and a couple of rolls. It came with miso soup or a salad.

Miso was good. They brought out the nigiri first.  Odd. The fish was dry.  Not moist at all. Tasted good but seemed like it had been setting out.

5 minutes after finishing the nigiri and I'm still waiting on the rolls.

After asking about the rolls and waiting 5 more minutes the rolls finally arrived.  The California roll was dry like it was made that morning and left out and the Dragon roll had so much sauce it drowned out the flavor.

Summary, sour smell, dry fish, slow service.  I'm not sure why this place gets such high marks.

This place is soooo good!!!  The sushi is GREAT!  Especially for southern Indiana. We have eaten there several times. Love love love the 007  and red bull rolls.  I wished we lived closer.  Service is always great. Grill cooks are very entertaining!  This is my kids FAVORITE place to eat anytime we are in Evansville.  If we don't eat there we always stop and get sushi to go for lunch next day. All the staff has always been very nice and helpful.  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
