The only problem i have with Koppe bridge is there new credit card required policy, some people dont like to use cards, I understand (sort of) why they are doing this becuase people are not showing to pick up there food, well I have ordered to show up and koppe bridge forgot about my order, so this is unfair how about you just take the phone numbers like ANY OTHER takeout business in town.
Review Source:I have been coming to Koppe Bridge for years. This place serves one of the best burgers I've ever had. Definitely one of the best in the Brazos.
The service is always good. The food is always made rather quickly. The atmosphere is full of so much local color, you can't mistake it for anywhere else but Koppe Bridge in College Station, Texas. I love coming here for the food, but the atmosphere also really keeps you coming back.
The Burgers are amazing! Perfectly sized, perfectly cooked, and so much flavor, despite it's generic make. This burger may look no different than others, however it's unique in it's great quality. I personally like it with nothing more Meat, Cheddar Cheese, and Mustard. It is good regardless of the way you get it.
The fries are always delicious. The Koppe Bridge fries are some of my favorite ANYWHERE. I can compare their flavor to In-N-Out Burger's fries (minus the Animal Style). They are a little greasy, but that adds so much to the flavor.
Other than the main attractions, there are some appetizers. The Texas Toothpicks are awesome and pair great with their creamy ranch (so do the fries).
Koppe Bridge also has several TVs, Pool Tables, and Vintage Arcade games for entertainment. Additionally, there is outdoor and porch seating available. These seats are especially pleasant on a nice Sunday Afternoon.
If you are ever in College Station this place is a MUST!
Food: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Atmosphere: 5/5
Overall: 5/5
Best burger in B/CS? No way. That'd be Grub Burger Bar.
Koppe Bridge serves huge, rather vanilla burgers. They are cooked properly, and the buns are decent. The fries are very good.
The complaints:
1. Nobody really needs burgers this huge. (I'm a guy that weighs over 200, easily, and a burger basket there is way more food than I need unless I'm planning on a long post-meal nap.)
2. They put way, way too much (yellow) mustard on the burgers. Ask for it with none.
3. The beer selection stinks, unless "Bud Light, Coors Light, Miller Lite" is a good selection. Fat Tire is C+ beer.
They're catering to a demographic that wants massive portions of food without interesting flavors and with low-end beer. If that's you, you'll love Koppe Bridge. If not, you'll feel grossed out.
I understand that a lot of people are going to disagree, but I find these burgers to be average. The meat is good, but it didn't make me want to come back. I tried someone elses burger and it wasn't just mine. The onion rings were good.
If you like your food pretty mild and super American, this might be the burger for you. For me it didn't really cut it.
I miss Koppe Bridge SO MUCH since I moved up to the DFW area. It's so hard to find a decent burger and Koppe Bridge has always been my favorite. The fries are great, the burgers so juicy and messy; it's PERFECT! This is the best joint to hit up for quick, delicious food and is just over all fun to be at! Come up to the DFW Koppe, I miss you!!!
Review Source:Having now experienced Stover Bros and Grub, I can't say I would come back here for burgers. Â The fried pickle spears are still great, but the burgers are disappointingly thin and well done, so the burger itself is more about the toppings...and these toppings are not anything to write home about. Â If I end up here again I'll be trying something else on the menu, like the fish tacos...anything but the lackluster burgers.
Review Source:Their burgers are pretty big and delicious. Lots of toppings to choose from too. The fish tacos were amazing--possibly the best fish tacos I've ever had. The Philly cheese steak I had was a bit on the dry side, so order with caution. One of my friends ordered the chicken-fried steak the first time we went and it was massive--really really wide across and still decently thick.
We ordered chips and salsa once, and the salsa was extremely watered down for some reason, almost to the point that it might've been a fluke; it was that gross. Still, I always hesitate to order it again or recommend it to a friend.
The location is alright, kinda far from campus, but it's worth the drive. The decor inside is alright. Everything this is made of wood since I guess it was renovated from an old cabin, so it might look kinda lame. IMO, it seems pretty standard for a Texan bar & grill. Several TVs around, so it gets busy around game times.
You order at the counter when you enter, then they call your order and you go pick it up at the window, so can't say anything about service. We chatted with the guy at the window while we waited for our food to come out, and he was pretty nice and cool.
We knew this place had won awards for burgers, so purely in the interest of providing our fellow yelpers with more details, we had the baja fish tacos and a Philly cheese sandwich. The Philly cheese was very tasty and stuffed with meat and toppings and was accompanied by fries. The baja tacos could be ordered with grilled or fried fish. Feeling nutritionally superior to my Philly cheese scarfing companion, i ordered the grilled fish. I am so glad I did, it was moist, flavorful and the soft taco was full to bursting. 90% of the soft taco was filled with fish, the whole thing was delicious and tasty and the accompanying tortilla chips were very light and non greasy. There is nothing fancy about this bar and grill, just great food at good prices, the five stars are for a fish taco that surely cannot be bettered anywhere in Texas.
Review Source:This place has quite the loyal following, and also personifies a phenomenon that's pretty powerful in Bryan-College Station. A place develops a high level of popularity based on some curious sense of loyalty, as opposed to the quality of the product. I've eaten here maybe a dozen times or so over the years, usually with folks from work, and my experience has always been exactly the same. These are "good" not "great" burgers. They are perfectly fine, decently made, run of the mill greasy burgers. Really don't get the hoopla at all. The fries are a bit better then the usual pile greasy carbs, and do merit some recognition. This place doesn't suck, nor does it rock. It is just one more link in a long chain of so-so burger joints in this burger crazed town. If you just crave "a burger" this place will do you just fine. If you are looking for something interesting (yes, there is a burger revolution of sorts going on out there), then this place probably isn't for you. Do enjoy the redneck kitsch decor of the place go, though you've probably seen it before at Dixie Chicken, Duddley's Draw, Chicken Oil Company, and God knows how many other places that love displaying deer heads on walls.
Review Source:A Google search on a rainy night for the best chicken fried steak College Station has to offer brought me here about two months ago. If you're going to the location on Wellborne, be aware that the parking lot is the unconventional "dirt and rocks" type and that you'll want to be careful where you put your feet when you get back in the car!
The atmosphere was really neat, posing as a small-town bar/grill with country music, beer signs, and low lighting. I ordered onion rings as an appetizer to split with one other person, and a large chicken fried steak with fries as my entree (healthy, I know!). When I went up to go ask for a plate for the onion rings, both the girl at the front and two of the cooks in the back looked at me like they didn't know what a plate was. Once I made it clear that I really wanted it so that me and the person I came with could put ketchup somewhere, they just gave me two little containers for ketchup. When the chicken fried steak came, it was HUGE. I can honestly say the large chicken fried steak is more than enough for any person, hungry or not (go for the small!). Unfortunately, I must admit that I was a little disappointed, but that may be just because I expected "The Best Chicken Fried Steak in the Brazos Valley" (indirect quote). The fries were good, and the food didn't take too long, though.
In short, despite somewhat difficult employees and a lackluster chicken fried steak, this place has a neat atmosphere and will definitely fill you up. Give it a try.
Wait in a long line of mostly students and order at the counter. Â Wooden tables, margarita machine, and people-watching. Â Known for its burger baskets, but I was more into the new menu item Baja Fish Tacos, which was really like a perfect-for-a-hungry-girl-size wrap sandwich with perfectly crispy fried moist fish and creamy ranch-like sauce. Â Tex-Mex Baja, I think.
Review Source:Ordered a 1/4 lb burger basket with grilled onions and bacon and fried pickle spears. I was in a group of 4 and when our food was ready, my fries were lukewarm. Yuck. The fried pickles were good, but not quite hooter's. The burger was just alright and they forgot to put grill the onions. My friends chicken fried steak was huge and he said it was only a half order. If you're a hungry guy, get the 1/2 lb burger basket.
Minor things:
You cant order the burger alone, but you can substitute fries for coleslaw and some other unappetizing sides. P.A. system is bad and it's hard to hear what names they are calling. Very attractive bartender.
I don't think I'll be coming back.
Awesome burger, made to order. Good size patty, cooked to medium rare (and really medium rare, not medium). Plenty of toppings options. Service is a little lousy but you're really just interacting with staff for the ordering part. A few TVs scattered in the corners of the room so not a prime place to watch a sports game but not bad either. Oh yea, random but restrooms were old and didn't feel clean.
Review Source:I Googled "Monday night specials in College Station" when looking for a place to eat last night, and several website listed Koppe Bridge as having 35 cent wings on Mondays. NOPE.
The girls at the counter informed us that they didn't have those specials, although they have people ask about it all the time, and we weren't the first person to ask for it that night.
Uh, if you have people asking about it all of the time don't you think you'd ask the websites to update the info? They are not old sites, I'm sure you can contact the webmasters.
We left and got some Chinese instead. It seems that every trip out to Koppe Bridge is a waste of gas.
Koppe Bridge is the place to be. I'm a big burger eater and love to sample different types and kinds in my travels around the US. Koppe Bridge has some outstanding burgers, hands down. Better yet, they have something for my non-red meat eating wife (fried catfish, which she enjoyed very much!). My bro-in-law had the chicken wings and those were incredibly tempting too.
But who are we kidding, when you come to Koppes, the burgers are king. Incredibly fresh ingredients, balanced perfectly. The toppings were fresh and tasty. I love how they slather mustard on the burger and the buns were fresh and soft, yet still held together through the whole epic journey.
I ordered my burger basket with american cheese and grilled onions. Looking back, I wish I also got bacon but that applies to most moments in my life. For those of you SoCal yelpers, this burger reminded me - taste-wise of a GIANT Animal Style burger (with the mustard, cheese, and grilled onions), yet even fresher and larger.
Bonus points, this place has a great Texas atmosphere, Cherry Pepsi on tap, and the girl working the counter couldn't believe that I remembered the year 1990 (which is the current year cut off for the drinking age, yikes! im old!).
Koppe, can't wait till I'm back in Texas!
Yes, this place is a full bar, but everyone there when I visited was having something to eat. The vast majority were enjoying one of their famous burgers.
The burgers here are delicious, but I found them just a little unwieldy. Messy burgers, in my opinion, come in two types. There is the "Oh my, this is so good, I need to hold it together!" type, and the "Arrggghh! This totally sucks!" type. The burger here falls into the first category. The fries here are thin cut from unpeeled potatoes and are cooked to a light crispiness.
A great place to stop and have a burger and a beer.
Definitely worth trying if you are in CS - a very good burger joint/bar. Nothing fancy (looks like a rundown shack) but the Burger Basket is what you are there for. The beef tastes freshly ground, the buns are also good, and the fries delish. There are a number of addons (grilled mushrooms, etc.) to custom your burger, too. Great place.
Review Source:FOOD:
This place is exactly what you want for good food at a random shack-like place in the middle of nowhere. Voted one of the top 10 burger joints in Texas in 2009. We got their famous cheese burger basket and their (according to them) second most popular grilled chicken burger basket.
Cheeseburger: reminded me of a sonic burger (mainly because of the mustard and pickles), except more gourmet and not as sloppy. Quality of meat is fresh and juicy, although thin. I'm a thin-bun girl, so it was a little thick for me.
Chicken Sandwich: very well-marinated and surprisingly NOT overdone, which is very rare to find. Swiss cheese perfectly melted on top, but there was a little too much mayo for my liking.
Fries were good - long, thin, but could have used a little more crispiness. They give you a lot too (hence, the "basket").
ATMOSPHERE:
Reminds me of a big spacious rustic wooden honkytonk - but nonetheless really comfortable. Pool tables are also in the back if you want to just chill. Outside seating on a patio is also available.
I give the Koppe Bridge a 4 star rating mostly based on ambience. Â I found the burger to be better than average, but certainly not in the Texas Top 10 as stated in the entrance.
One thing that was off putting was the 45 minute wait to get our order even though the place was not that crowded.
You will see a lot of fat people here...
...but that should not deter you!! Seriously the best burgers in town (and most of Texas). I'm just sad I discovered it in my last year living in CS (out of 6 years). Â
The place is a bit further out (may take more than 10 minutes to drive there *gasp*) and hidden in the trees, but once you find it and order an Original juicy burger with awesome fries, you'll know it was a worthy trip.
The place is rustic and very Texan without trying too hard (think Texas Roadhouse). They have billiards and games in the back and what seems like a nice porch area to enjoy your food outside (the weather was always too hot for us).
The food, as I said, is the best. The burger is flavorful and juicy and extra good with grilled onions. Most burger places never season their patties enough, but Koppe doesn't skimp on the flavor. The fries are the right balance of crispy and soft and are just YUM. Everything takes about 10-15 minutes to prepare.
Go. Just go.
After a two week trip through Berkeley (the lack of red meat there makes me cry) me and the GF decided that before going home from the airport....we were stopping by Koppe for some fantastic burger time. That's right - after a long day of riding trains, planes, and the inevitable automobile....we said screw comfy couches and a nice hot shower I want some burgers. They are so much better than I can put into words. It's worth the drive....it's worth the heartache (and impending attack).....and it's totally worth the measly 7 bucks or whatever it is for a burger and fries.
Review Source:Excellent, excellent burger. Maybe not excellent FOR me, but it sure made my mouth happy. I got the 1/4 lb burger, at my friend's suggestion, and I'm glad I did, because apparently the "regular" burger is a frickin' 1/2 lb! Believe me, the 1/4 lb was plenty. The flavor was excellent and the fries were fresh and hot. It was a little odd eating lunch here on such a bright day, as almost no sunlight makes it into this place and it seemed pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon. There are neon beer signs and drink specials posted everywhere so I'm sure this place is hoppin' during football season. There's also a nice looking area for live music out back. You order at the counter, so there's not really any service to speak of, but the ladies at the counter were nice enough. Overall the food has a really authentic flavor, but the inside atmosphere is awkward if you're not really into the sports bar thing. Maybe when the weather is nicer I'd go back for lunch on the patio or something.
Review Source:Tasty burgers - the bread tastes generic but it doesn't matter because the flavorful meat and the thick slice of american cheese owns this burger.  The fries are fresh tasting and have skin on them.  It is very dark even during bright sunny days because there are very few windows.  You eat in the blue neon glow omitted from the beer signs.  Has two pool tables in the back room and  a massive outdoor drinking area that has a small stage.
Review Source:This place is in a random stretch of road that is a decent distance away from the Texas A&M main campus, so those who are living on campus might be shy'd away from coming to this place. The building itself is a old fashioned style shack which adds to its atmosphere. The food is really good, I had ordered the chicken fried steak which tasted  amazing even though Koppe Bridge isn't known for it. Their burgers on the other hand are wicked sick. I pretty much inhaled mine (but i was starving at the time). The place is also a bar with the average stocks of brands of alcohol, but since I wasn't 21 at the time of review; I cannot say much. If you're in the area then definitely  come check this place  out. But if you're on campus then, check out Stover Boys instead.
Review Source:This place is what Texas is all about! You will not walk away hungry and that's a guarantee! The atmosphere is awesome, price is AWESOME! Food is GREAT! Combine quality and quantity. So much toppings... your gonna get messy - ya know its gonna be good this way! Am I going back? Yeah that's a given. If you are in the BCS area even for a few hours... you must stop here.
Review Source:I think this shows the true power of Yelp. Â It was based only on Yelp reviews that we decided to go by here today. Â Just uploaded a whole slew of photos as well. Â
This is one of the best burgers I have ever had, and it is most certainly the best ever in Brazos valley. Â Aside from Yelp reviews, they have awards on the wall for "Best Burger in Bryan / College Station in 2002, 2004 and 2006, if memory serves me correctly. Â
As far as what it looks like outside and inside, just reference the photos. Â It's rustic and cute. Â We noticed a lot of families there at 4pm and everyone appeared to be locals. Â Â When walking in we seated ourselves and sat there for a few minutes a little confused before reading the sign that says to order at the counter. Â Â
My wife had a brisket sandwich which was ready in just a few minutes. Â My burger (I added bacon and cheddar with jalapenos on the side), was ready in about 10-15 minutes. Â Â I was getting annoyed as she was half way done by the time my food arrived, but we some how let some other people get in line in between us, so no biggie. Â
The burger was a 1/2 pound and was just totally excellent, as you can no doubt see by the look on my face. Â And I finished every bite of it. Â Wonderful quality beef cooked through perfectly, fresh fluffy cloud like bun, that was toasted on the downside with butter (like I do my own). Â Cheese was real and rich, bacon was actually thick sliced and I dare say I think they smoked it there. Â The bacon had the same smoke flavor as my wife's brisket. Â And get this. Â Â The jalapenos were GRILLED!!!! Â AMEN to that! Â Â Any burger place that would take the attention to grilling a jalapeno is an award winner in my book. Â Â I've only seen that done at very high end places in the past. Â Â Because that is some major attention to detail, and it shows a burger by design with every aspect being catered to. Â Â
So I can confirm that the Chamber of Commerce awards and the claims here on Yelp, that this is the best burger in Brazos valley, are true and accurate. Â Â Thanks ya'll for sharing. Â Â We will eat here again. Â
Cool vintage video games too!
Really, I don't know what's up with my burger-meter, but nothing really seems to be hitting the "YES!" button lately. Â I went to Koppe Bridge this past weekend with friends who super-heart it (we're all in Austin now) -- my hubby & I split a burger & fries since I had eaten all day (continental breakfast at Super 8 + corndog & popcorn at the stadium + brisket taco at the tailgate), and... I mean, it was more than enough for both of us (again, he doesn't eat much) -- hefty at what i'd guess was 1/2 lb? a little more than 1/3 lb? Â And the bacon was huge & the cheese was perfectly melted, and the mustard was the perfect ratio, and the meat was verry decent... But overall, still didn't wow me. Â By all means, it should have, so definitely check this place out -- my other friends swear nothing else compares to these burgers, too, and they've lived in Austin all their lives (we're all Aggies), so def check out Koppe burgers.
I do have to say: The fries -- man. Â I am very picky about my fries, and if only these were my style, these alone would have merited 5-stars. Â Seriously, these are probably the first fries in my life that taste like actual potatoes. Â Um, in a good way -- everything else has been either "mm, fries" or "ick, fries" -- these were like, "Wow, POTATOES." I thought they were good: skinny, long-cut fries; a bit of skin here and there; bubbly texture on the outside and a bit tender on the inside -- these are not wedges by any means. Â But, since I'm picky, they didn't hit my spot, either.
All the same -- absolutely worth checking out -- the atmosphere is totally BCS -- rundown-bar look, wood everywhere (is this thing constructed of wood? I feel like it is); the enclosed porch the 7 of us sat in so that we could all sit together (inside is primarily bar stools around round tables, or perfect domino-tables + wood chairs) had ceiling fans that didn't do much for circulating air, but it was great weather, so we didn't mind.
100% agree with the other reviews. This place has awesome burgers!
They serve 1/2 pound burgers with fries and all the fixings that you want. It's a pretty large place and so can be good for groups. It is self-service - you order at the counter and pick up your own food.
They have bud & miller on tap and a frozen margarita machine.
I'm gonna full heartedly agree with Jennifer S. on this one. Â I promise, you won't find a better burger in the B/CS area. Â They are huge, plump, juicy, and with the perfect amount of sides. Â The cheese is just oozing off (which makes for very ladylike behavior when I lick it off my fingers). Â This is not a primp and proper place, so be prepared to park in the dirt drive way, sit on long benches and have the best burger in the South. Â Trust me, I'm a burger fanatic and I wouldn't steer you wrong on this.
Review Source:I have a request. Â In order to get the full effect of this review go to your DVD player and put in a copy of your favorite Clint Eastwood Western. Â Thank you.
Now that the mood is set, I can tell you how great Koppe Bridge really is. Â Once you finish parking in the gravel lot, you walk up a set of rickety steps that look as if they must have been a former stage set on a Clint Eastood Western. Â This is an order at the counter place which really lends itself to bringing a large group.
I recommend the fried pickle spears. Â I've been trying to eat healthier lately (operative word being "trying") but I absolutely cannot live without fried pickles. Â There is just something about the crunchy breading and then that sour inside that makes this the perfect food. Â Several restaurants in the area offer fried pickles but what sets Koppe Bridge apart is that they serve them in spear form rather than chip. Â I can't decide which I like best, but they are distinctive.
As for the star of the show, the burgers are beyond compare in College Station. Â They are big, juicy, and prepared perfectly. Â Koppe Bridge has this down to an art. Â Don't even think about ordering anything else your first time at Koppe Bridge. Â This is what they do.
You may go back to your Clint Eastwood film now. Â And then head to Koppe Bridge.
The Verdict: Go for the Burger. Â Leave with a to-go box.
