I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident but I am glad that I did. When I walked in my nose was filled with a wonderful aroma. I took a seat and realized that the menu not only served Japanese food, as was to be expected, but it also sold Thai food. I had never been to an establishment like this. The waiters were great, the food even better. When I return this will be a place that I go to.
Review Source:This place is a little confounding. They have a restaurant upstairs and a "sports bar" downstairs. And, neither one ever gets that full. In fact, I've never heard of anyone going to the sports bar and every time I go into the restaurant, they have a closed circuit camera aimed at the downstairs sports bar, and it is always completely empty down there....never even seen a bartender there.
But, they've been around for a long time and the food upstairs is really good. I don't usually get the Japanese food although it's tasty. They have a Thai menu that is really outstanding....red curry, yellow curry, pad thai, etc. Noodle dishes are yummy, too. The lady that owns the place really takes a lot of pride in making good food and it shows.
You have to look for Kyoto's if you want it...it's a little out of the way in the back of small shopping mall in downtown Tryon. But, it's well worth it. A top 20 restaurant in Polk County, NC.
