This place was really good. Â I had the stuffed sopaipilla and it was really good. Â I was stuffed when I was done. Â They give chips and salsa when you sit own and the salsa is pretty good. Â Everyone at our table was very satisfied after lunch. Â The place is clean and sells coffee and dessert at a separate counter.
Review Source:This place tries to be accommodating to vegetarians by offering a few tofu dishes, which is a BIG plus considering it's Espanola, but my last two experiences dining here were big misses so I won't be going back.
The wait staff are generally very nice and helpful, but the management/hostess is pretty inflexible and not very pleasant. We've been coming here for years so I don't know if there has been a change of management or what.
As for the food, the sopapillas are large and served fresh but the dough is tough and chewy. I much prefer the ones at Sopapilla Factory. The tofu in the tofu fajitas is essentially unseasoned, deep-fried cubes of tofu tossed with peppers and onions, so the dish is incredibly bland. When my friend and I asked if we could order tofu tacos and a green salad with tofu rather than meat, at first we were told no. When we tried to reason with the management/hostess, we still got pushback, even when we agreed to pay more. As it turned out, it was only $2 more to have tofu instead of chicken on a salad, yet the ordeal was such a hassle (and the final product rather crappy anyway).
Bottom line is that yes, if you are starving in the desert for vegetarian food, this place is better than nothing. However, if you are vegetarian, I suggest driving a few extra miles to the Sopapilla Factory in Pojoaque where the menu and service is much better.
This place sucks big time. Â Â
Food was either under-cooked or over-cooked. The chips were stale, but the salsa was good.  My taco a soggy mess and tostada simply  awful. The sopapilla was cold, greasy, and tasted like old oil.
The service staff was nice, but the host a dimwit.
Don't waste your money. Â Â Oh, also, there is no beer or wine despite the name (restaurant & cantina) and the website saying they had a full bar...
