Laff Spot Comedy Club & Defensive Driving

Houston Texas has always been one of the unsung breeding grounds of great stand up comedy. One of the things that has kept this a reality is the number of great "A" room clubs in the metro area. With the slow, drawn out demise of the Laff Stop (*pours beer on ground*), the other 3 name clubs have had to step in and full the void. I am pleased to say that Laff Stop in Willowbrook seems to be on the front line of maintaining a quality comedy edge for the H-town people. Nice room layout, good sound and lights, a friendly and professional staff are all a part of the experience. If you are looking for a laugh and are way the hell out near Champions, then by all means hit this club.

I want to say the address for this business is wrong, but I won't nitpick too much.

There is something kinda funny about showing up to a place that is.. well, a comedy club with a full bar and see the words "defensive driving" right under the name of the place. You'll probably need it if you get crazy with their very yummy drinks. When I recently visited, I wanted to stray from my old reliable Newcastle or red wine, and was not disappointed by the Blue Hurricanes. Well it's hard to be disappointed when you're buzzed as heck, laughing your butt off.

Anyway.

The seating is a bit annoying, but the wait staff makes up for it by being attentive, polite, and super fast. The artichoke dip isn't bad either. If you're in the area, it's worth it to have a drink, perhaps a bite, and a lot of laughs.

I like to laugh, so when I was thinking of places to go for my bday, the comedy club was the obvious choice. This was my second encounter with the Laff Spot, however, first time at the new location. My first encounter was a few years ago, and from what I can vaguely remember, I had a decent time.

Luckily, for this particular time, I purchased tickets online because there were customers that reserved seats, but did not purchase tickets that were told they would not get a seat. Obviously, the customers weren't too happy, and started complaining. The arguing continued to escalate between the customers and management to a point that was just not professional. I personally think the management could have handled the situation better.

So, after all the drama, we were eventually seated and were able to enjoy a beverage and the show. The service staff was very attentive. I plan to come back, but making sure I purchase tickets online.
