For 20 years I had driven by Lafferty's and wondered what it was like inside, but was always afraid to go. Â I finally got a chance when I friend of mine and I decided to stop in one night.
The crowd was more diverse than I expected. Â I had assumed we've be in the minority but it was about an even mix of people. Â
There's not as much room on the inside as it looks from the outside. Â The bar is fairly small with a few nearby tables, with the front room having a comfortable lounge feel. Â Around the corner from the bar is a small, well-lit (but very plain) back room with a pool table.
Our bartender was a really charming lady and we really enjoyed sitting and talking with her. Â Â
In the back room a HUGE (as in muscle) guy was shooting pool. Â We had asked the bartender for directions to a place we were planning to check out and she didn't know, so asked him. Â He invited us back there, Â talked to us for a bit and gave him the help we needed. Â We offered to buy him a drink to show our gratitude, an offer he immediately accepted by ordering a large, expensive drink.
Later, we discovered that each of us had thought that the other of us paid for the drink we bought him.
Whoops!
Sorry, dude!
