Discovered Lallo's in January and have been visiting regularly since. They offer awesome lunch specials for under $7, drafts for $1.25 and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Â Neighborhood restaurants like Lallo's are few and far between today. Â Family owned and operated, they are a throw back to the days before corporate chains touted themselves as "neighborhood" establishments.
Review Source:I have not found a meal to be bad yet. I have been there at least 30 times and tried at least 20 different dishes. Whenever I get a different friend who visits for the first time and want to go out to eat, I recommend here. Besides the one time they gave away my phone in order to someone else, I have not had a problem. Simple mix up, nobody's perfect! Their prices are very reasonable, especially their lunch specials. The enchiladas are to die for, but like I stated earlier, everything I've had was good. I was born and raised 30 years in Chicago, so I definitely know good food! I gave it 4 stars only because the dining room could use an overhaul, but it is a bar & grill. When ever I get visitors from the old neighborhood and we want to eat out, they chose Lallo's. That has to say alot!
Review Source:I don't know what Julie D. means by 'scary', Lallo's is a great place to eat, there is a dining room that is completely removed from the bar area. Â It's not a 'trendy' place, just friendly people and some of the best food you'll find...the Mexican food is the best! Â Try the Jalapeno pepper appetizers.
Review Source:I dined in and got the enchiladas plate, chicken, ground beef, and steak, and a bowl of pozole ($6.95) to go. Â Its surprising how good the good is for a divey bar. Â The enchilada tortillas had a dark shade of brown, as if they were burnt, but didn't taste like it, weird I know. Â The pozole is a meat broth stew with chickpeas and grits that's not on the menu. Â Had a spice to it, also tasted like added paprika to it. Â They also give you a Styrofoam of lime, cilantro, onions, lettuce, and sliced beets, but tasted better without all those extras.
Review Source:Lallo's has been a staple in my diet since I moved to the area. Â Thursday's carrot jalapeno soup is great, the American food is very good but I stick with the mexican food more often than not. Â I love the steak and potato tacos. Â They put so much on your taco that you can really fold it up to eat it. Â I love the red hot sauce they give you too and have told my fiance many times to sneak one in her purse which she never will. Â I'm smart, I don't want to take the fall! Â
I recommend this place to anyone. Â If you are looking for something with great scenery while you are out to eat, then well this isn't the place for you because it's just a place to grab a seat and eat some really good food, and a lot of it that I promise you. Â I've never heard anyone come out of Lallo's saying they needed more food.
OH, and that reviewer that said they only have RC products is full of it. Â You just order a can of whatever and they bring it over. Â They have RC as a fountain drink. Â Sounds to me like someone was "slumming it" coming over to Lallos.
Good ole Lallo's. This place definetly makes my parents hometown more tolerable. I normally only order the Mexican food- except for the fish specials during Lent- gotta take advantage of that. They have outstanding homestyle food and an unbeatable local crowd. Definately an oasis in the middle of nowhere... I would highly recommend stopping in.
Review Source:My friends love this place and spend almost every Sat night here for karaoke. Â The last two times we've been in town, we've spent some time at Lallo's for karaoke, the Sunday Bloody Mary brunch, and for dinner.
Karaoke is fun although I don't participate. Â It's fun to watch others have fun with it. Â The Bloody Mary bar is pretty cool. Â You get a glass of vodka on ice and take it to the little buffet bar to fill with tomato juice and all the fixins. Â My friends raved about the chimis and so I ordered one one evening, but I wouldn't say it is something I'd ever order again. Â I wasn't really impressed by it or the melted imitation cheese they put on top of it. Â
I will say the service here is excellent! Â The bartendars, waitresses, cooks, etc are all very friendly and really go out of their way to take care of my friends since they are there all the time. Â
I'm a fan of hanging out here for some drinks and karaoke!
This place is not the Taj Mahal but you know what? The food is pretty damn good. The place looks like a dive bar out of "Deliverance" but the staff is friendly. The menu has Mexican staples but also American favorites as well. I got the steak tacos along with a few Coronas. Five hours later and I'm still full. Enjoy.
