I WANTED to like this place.
Uneven service. Very uneven. With most of the service on the POOR side.
Big Chunks of Jalapeños. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the theme of Big Chunks of Jalapeños kept coming up again and again through the meal. The theme got old quickly.
Abundant Muddy-tasting Frozen spinach in veggie questadilla. Not good.
There was a generous amount of ceviche on the Ceviche Tostada, although the Big Chunks of Jalapeños Theme was part of that dish as well, and definitely knocked down the expereince of that dish.
We love mexican food, so we thought we would try a new place. Went for lunch, waitress was very sweet and brought our chips and salsa right away. Salsa was a bit bland, asked for a hotter salsa, she said they were out. Ordered the tacos al pastor ,which came with refried beans and rice. Â The beans had absolutely no flavor and were mainly just an obligatory filler. My pork, however did have a flavor, a bad one. Â I've had this dish many times at other restaurants and this was the first time I've ever been served meat that tasted like it's been sitting in the walk-in past it's expiration date. It was also way too fatty, with the fat to meat ratio of 90/10. Â It was so bad I told our waitress that I couldn't eat it. Â She was very apologetic and didn't charge me for the entree and also took 15% off our bill. Â Which I may add, was quickly offered up since she was probably used to doing it. Â The people in the booths on both sides of us also had problems. Â One women refused the rest of her meal because it was too salty. Â Where's the standards?
Review Source:I have been here twice and it was really good both times. The best refried beans I have ever had. Good cheap kids meals also ($2.50). I usually don't like most Mexican food places in town except for Mex. Villa and Maria's. This one might be my favorite. They also have fried tacos available. The menu gave you lots of options but wasn't confusing like a lot of Mexican menu places. The waitress was very nice and did a fine job.
