well, we went here when it was Lee Street Billiards and enjoyed it, so when we were looking for a place to play pool one Saturday night we decided to pop in.  No complaints on the price of beer, or the price of the pool... what's the complaint?  Well, its the fact that, according to the bartender, you need to get there at like 7:30 if you want to play pool.  We hung around, had two beers, were there for about 45 minutes, and couldn't get on a pool table... which kind of sucked.

Live bands are good, watching drunk people dance to live bands is fantastic... to that part was quite entertaining.

I disagree on the "rough" crowd comment of a previous review... the night we were there there were a bunch of bikers there, but I wouldn't assume that just because they ride Harleys and wear leather, they are rough.  The age range was vast in the place, from 21 yr olds to 60-something, and everyone seemed to get along.  We may pop in again, but since I'm not the type to go out and start my night at 7:00 on a Saturday, it probably won't be for pool.

A dive, but only in the best sense of the word. Cheap beer and slightly-less-cheap liquor. No food except for peanuts and some small munchies like that.

This used to be an alcohol-free pool hall once upon a time. They've half a dozen of the pool tables, but now they are free(!), provided, of course, that you are buying drinks (they have to pay the bills after all). Some bands play on occasion, slanted towards the 70s and 80s rock cover band variety, which can be cool if you are in the mood. Very supportive of the military and attracts a rough but friendly crowd. Nice place to hang out in the northwest suburbs.

Came here on a night there was FREE music, no cover. First star. Second star comes from FREE pool. Third star comes from it being very well kept. The drinks are cheap (4 stars) and everyone is extremely friendly. If only this place were actually in the city, I'd come more often.

Great local place for shooting pool.  Lots of tables, and the pool is free if you buy a beer or two while you are playing.  And the beer is definitely cheap.

There is no food served there, but you can bring your own food in if you want.  There is also an excellent little Mexican restaurant two doors down in the strip mall that makes fantastic food at a great price point.  Definitely recommended.

If you're looking for a yuppie pool hall, then this is not your place.  If you're looking for a good mix of people of all ages and backgrounds in a place that is friendly, then Lee Street Billiards might be for you.

The 2 reviews that say it had no liquor license are old, this place has a full bar now.

Fun poolhall/bar, the place is as good as it gets for a local dive-y place to shoot some pool. AND playing pool is usually free, if you have a drink.  Drinks are cheap, i think their 30something ounce draft beers are usually like plus or minus 4 bucks on special.

I think every sunday during the day they do buffet type picnic-y stuff, free snacks if you're drinkin!

    Trivia on wednesday nights :)

This is a somewhat clicky bar that has a biker, pool hall, all around interesting feel. The owner is prior service and 100% supports the military. His saying (and has been know to back this up all the time)
"If you are on leave, your drinks here are on me."
Great place to bring friends and have a few cold ones! Friendly feel and fun bartenders on the weekends.
Downside- has no food, but does allow for pizza to be brought in from next door!!!

I was there on 02/26/2011 and I can tell you that it's definitely not closed.   It's no longer "Chris's" but it is Lee St Billiards.   And it's better.   Full liquor bar and thus an older clientele.    About six 7-ft Diamond Pro tables and two 9-ft Gold Crowns.   All in good shape.    Plenty of drink specials and all-you-can-play specials.   Give it another try.

My only real problem with Chris' 2 is the fact that I always feel like I'm interrupting everyone else's prom after party. I can't think of another pool hall that attracts such a large amount of teenagers. Being around them makes me want a drink, and, of course, Chris' 2 doesn't have a booze license.

That being said, the equipment here is very well maintained, and the staff are a pretty friendly group of guys. They don't seem to have the surly, superior attitude I find at more pool halls. The rates are pretty affordable and they have a couple different specials during the week that make it worth me conning someone into driving out there.

Also, they get kudos for their pretty good food. It's the usual, unhealthy fried up stuff, but that's not a bad thing, and they do it right.

Also known as "Chris' Two" (with the Milwaukee Ave location being number one) this is an unremarkable strip mall pool hall with well maintained tables.

Biggest negative?  No liquor license.  Not only do I like to have a beer while I shoot, but this also puts the average age of Chris II patrons around 16 - they even have specific "after-school" specials for their teenage clientele.

Biggest Positive?  They have some skilled staff members who can help you maintain your cue.  I had a cue tip replaced there and am very pleased with the job they did.

So if you're underage or playing with someone who is, try Chris' II.  Otherwise I'd head up to Slate Street in Vernon Hills.
