Lenny's is classic NY pizzeria, which means that it's better than 90% of the pizza sold outside of the NYC area. Â I had the Chicken parm slice and the sicilian. The former was delicious while the sicilian was excellent. Â The young lady behind the counter was super nice and helpful. Â If I'm on the North Fork again, I will stop in for a slice or three, no doubt.
Review Source:So this is it; that perfect Brooklyn-style pizza. Â I came here with my two kids on a recommendation after years of having patronized another nearby pizzeria. Â The NY-style pizza had a perfectly crisped thin crust and delicious sauce, with a hint of oregano and other spices. Â The man behind the counter introduced himself as Lenny's son, and after he saw my kids eyeing the Sicilian-style pizza, he emerged a few minutes later with a fresh slice of it for them to sample. Â There's a new pizza-Sheriff in town for our family and it's Lenny's Pizza.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I were in Riverhead for his birthday, and we were looking for a good Italian place to eat. Â The reviews persuaded me, and I dragged my boyfriend here. Â Wow. Â The chicken alla vodka was outstanding, as was the fettuccini with chicken in the pink cream sauce. Â If we're ever in town again, these Italians are coming here. Â (for a more romantic evening, sit in the restaurant side.)
Review Source:A couple of weeks ago we travelled from Queens to go to the Tangers Mall in Riverhead. Â Afterwards, we were in the mood for pizza. Â We asked someone where the best place to go was, and they told us about Lenny's. Â We were very, very happy we listened. Â The pizza was great, and the veal parm was one of the best we have ever tasted. Â We met the owner and some of the staff, who were all freindly and charming. Â
We are looking forward to going back next time we are in Riverhead.
I recently was a part of a film shoot in Jamesport and when my cast and crew were looking for something to nibble on, our closest option was Lenny's. Â We wound up visiting this place a couple of times and I have to say they make a pretty mean regular slice.
Lenny's Pizza & Restaurant is a medium sized pizzeria located in the heart of Jamesport and I'm going to guess the place may get pretty filled up in the summer when people come to their summer homes / explore wine country. Â Even in the late days of winter though they still have a big crowd.
The inside is your standard place with a nice welcoming decor. Â You can see their big kitchen area where a couple of people are busy away making the pies. Â The staff is friendly enough. Â Service on my couple of visits hasn't been short of quick.
The biggest downside of Lenny's is that they're a bit more pricey than your average pizza place in Nassau or Suffolk County. Â The North Fork is known for being expensive but either way I find it near ridiculous to pay $16 for a regular 18' pie. Â You can get a huge, tasty sicilian pie for that price in other establishments to put things in perspective. Â The other downside is a coupon we printed off the website wouldn't be accepted since it apparently expired, yet the coupon had no expiration date. Â Stay active on your site guys so these little hiccups don't happen!
With that said the taste is solid. Â They put plenty of herbs and spices on their pie instead of your average plain pie to give you that nice extra flavor. Â The other dishes haven't disappointed either with the exception of the calamari which was soggy and had an unpleasant texture. Â
Normally I'd give a place like this 3.5 stars but since they came through for my crew in the clutch with quick service and good food I'm giving them four. Â Yes they are expensive but its worth checking out.
I can't speak for the rest of the week (or the restaurant side, which seems to run dinner hours) but the establishment was open 11-9 on this particular Sunday, when we stopped in during the first hour of their 11am-3pm lunch special of 2 ('round/Neapolitan') slices & a fountain soda for 5 buckeroos (well, according to their site* this was what we went in expecting). We waltzed in to discover that said special had been raised to $5.50+tax, still not a dealbreaker, so we went for that as well as 2 additional slices from the nice guy behind the counter (a reportedly-tasty white slice and a well-executed Sicilian corner). The damage came to $13.21, which seemed steep given the price for pies & the volume at this particular time. Ultimately, the Station Pizza-esque slices were skillfully but not overly seasoned, nothing phenomenal but certainly a very respectable product that would rip me out of the less-than-once-a-month pizza guy I've become.
Note: it's in the Jamesport Commons Shopping Center (it shares a lot with a bagel joint & Katrinka Deli, neither of which seem to have numbered addresses on Main Road, compounding the confusion)
*To say their web presence surprised me would be an understatement. 'Coupons' (i.e., what seemed to be visual representations of perennial promos for anyone who walks in off the street) can be had @ http://www.lennysofjames… , where you can apparently also place pizza-by-mail orders.
We had a pretty short stay in Jamesport and late on a Sunday night we got hungry. Â I am a sucker for good pizza from NY and this was perfectly satisfying.
The staff was excellent as well. Â You could not ask for more. Â A reg cheese pie for about $15. Â Its a fair price for a good pie and some personal service. Â If I'm ever back in the area, I will be back.
We drive 20 minutes to get pizza from Lenny's, and pass on at least 5 or 6 other pizza places to get to him. By far the best Pizza on the North Fork. The service is very friendly, and yes it is a little more expensive than his competitors, but you get what you pay for.
The stuffed pizza is to die for.
PIZZA
This place has gotten pricey over the years. Â But it is still my all time favorite pizza. Â The Sicilian is the best. Â The dough, sauce and spices are perfect. Â I always ask for light cheese because they lay it on very heavy (most people love the cheese). Â They also have a great selection of specialty slices. Â I like the chicken parmesan, ziti and veggie. Â The garlic knots are also very good. Â
I used to live down the street. Â I look forward to visiting family so i can get a pie on my way home. Â They implemented a high minimum on credit card purchases. Â I think it was around $20 last time i was there. Â That usually frustrates me, but i deal with it here. Â
I have not eaten in the restaurant. Â I like the pizza to much to pass it up.
