Lindenhof

This place isn't really a restaurant.  The German-American Central Society runs this dinner.  It is only on Fridays, and dinner is served from 5-8.  The bar is open until midnight.  You pay for a ticket (cash or check), take it up to the window, and can choose from a selection of two entrees and a few sides.  Usually one of those is a schnitzel.  There's water, or you can get a German beer or wine from the bar.

The food had its ups and its downs.  Very canned corn and vegetables. Cafeteria-style mashed potatoes.  But the chicken schnitzel was as good as any I had in Austria, and the brats were alright also.  I wouldn't come here for the food, though.  I'd come for the very friendly crowd who got friendlier the more they drank, and the woman who provided some great atmosphere with her accordion playing.  This isn't someplace that I'd come every Friday for even *more* schnitzel, but it's definitely a fun place to try once.
