This is a great local place with cheap beer (Gansett on draught!) and great pub food. I have never had a bad meal here and their prices and portions are just right. Their seafood is also stellar. Driving by, it doesn't seem like the type of place to have good food at all, let alone good seafood, but judge not by appearances! I used to drive by at 7am on the way to work and the Wilfred's Seafood truck was out there every morning delivering a fresh catch. The lobster roll is impressive with not only real lobster meat, but whole claws and generous chunks of tail meat, tossed with just a little mayo and a squeeze of lemon juice on a traditional, toasted New England bun. Yum! They also run a special for a pitcher of domestic draught beer and a 2lb. bucket of steamers for something like $21. The clams are fresh, the beer is cold and the price is right. Such a great local gem.
Review Source:I was sitting at home wondering what to do on a fine day like today and decided I wanted seafood. After about 30 minutes hunting places online, and going through the old haunts w've gone to before I happened on a place named "Lindy's Tavern" here on yelp. Never having been there let alone seen the place, and its 5 minute distance I wondered what the heck. All the reviews were positive so why not.
I AM GLAD I DID. Â This place might not look like alot from the outside except for a biker bar hole in the wall, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let that fool you. You can go in through the side or the front, and its got maybe 10 or a bit more tables and a bar area. The wait staff is very courteous, and helpful, and are attentive to you. We ordered drinks and they gave my son a cloring placemat and crayons, and came over with a complimentary basket of fresh buttered poopcorn that was popped as we watched. He was so happy and behaved well thanks to that alone. We ordered a seafood platter and pasta with meatballs for my son which came with fries also. His plate was a very generous size, and had 2 huge homemade meatballs with a sauce you'd die for. My and my wifey ordered a seafood platter, and were beside ourselves with not only the size of it, quality content(more seafood than fries), and absolute deliciousness. The breading was a thin but very crispy style that clug to the food beautifully and was incredible on its own, but the seafood was just insane.
Scallops were small but they sure put in alot of them, damn they were so good. The fish was a monster. Tender, moist, but not dry, onion rings were phenomenal, and just plain awesome. NOTHING WAS OILY.
I hate clams and coleslaw, and talked the waitress easily into switching the bellies to clam strips even though she assured me the bellies were very clean and recommended. When it came out i immediately tried the clams strips and coleslaw to see if it was any good. I might not like them but i try them anyway just incase...............They were the very first things that disappeared on the platter. OMG were they soooo good. Homemade slaw that wasn't to wet nor dry...just right, and next time im trying the bellies for a change. I guess i now love slaw and clams...lol
We had 2 rounds of drinks, and we all had a dessert which was substancial and very inexpensive. A fudge Sunday with a huge scoop, whip cream nuts and sprinkles was only 1.99. Our total bill $42 and change.
We're going back tomorrow after work. I sure hope it isn't busy. They had people waiting outside the waitress said. I don't doubt her one bit.
My new favorite place.
Not a place I had ever thought of going but after one visit I was hooked.  There portions are large and there specials are great  14.99 lobster dinner, 12.99 steamers.  Have never been dissapointed.  There beer selection and prices are good also.  The restaurant is small and always crowded on a Friday or Saturday night.  The wait staff is great and friendly.. Def worth a visit if you have never been.
Review Source:This place looks like it came out of the set of That 70's Show or maybe a Wisconsin basement with all the old-school wood panelling and the awesome looking bartender with the mustache, Â a Blackstone river valley accent that can cut through glass, and a dry but well meaning humor (Question: Where are the $1.50 oysters from? Answer from said bartender with a wink: The Ocean. Meta-thought: I love you! p.s. he said they were Blue Points). Anyway, it's a hole in the wall, totally unpretentious, full of neighborhood types some of whom look like they would rather stay here all night than go home. Ever. Â The chicken wings, beer, cocktails, oysters, and fried clams were inexpensive. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I wouldn't hesitate to have more oysters from the ocean and some crisp beer to wash it all down w/ all the other friendly people enjoying themselves.
Review Source:This place is freaking awesome! I've never had a bad meal and the portions are enormous along with a great price though seating can be hard to come by since people are starting to find out how good the food is (maybe I should have given this a 1 star rating...).
Drinks are reasonably priced and the staff is always helpful and attentive. Even the locals sitting at the bar are friendly. This is hands down my favorite place to go eat in Northern RI.
Lindy's is the Rudy of Northern RI bars. Its small in size (only about 8 tables and the bar), beloved by the locals, and overlooked by people outside of the general area. But like Rudy it has a lot of dedication and heart.
The food is great, the beer is cheap and free flowing, and the owner tries his best to keep his prices reasonable. I have never had a bad meal here. They have your standard pub appetizers, sandwiches, and a few set dinners but where they shine is the seafood. They have hands down some of the best seafood in Northern RI if not the state and for some of the best prices. They have lobster and steamers year round, excellent seafood chowder, and stuffies to name a few. On top of this they have different specials throughout the week the most popular one is the Prime Rib dinner which I think is on Fridays.
Definitely give it a shot you wont be disappointed. You can get a good meal here that wont break the bank. Just a word of warning its hard to get a table at peak hours so plan accordingly.
Wow, what a find!
Like a few of the reviewers before me, I approached this place cautiously. It screams "biker bar!" everywhere, from the bikes parked outside, to the "Harley Davidson"-shaped logo, and the leather jacket-wearing customers themselves.
But, believe it or not, it's kid-friendly. Not everyone is a biker (really, only a few are), and everyone seemed to be pretty friendly. There were a few loud customers, but that's kind of to be expected in a bar.
It's a small place. There's a bar along the right side, with 8 or 9 tables scattered along the left side. If it's packed, expect to wait. I think we got lucky when we got there, an hour or so after a Pats game ended.
Popcorn is help-yourself, which is good for hungry kids.
The food is (pardon the french) fricken' fantastic! It reminds me of roadside seafood stands that my parents used to take us to. We went on a Sunday, and I ordered the all-you-can-eat Clam Chowder (red), and clam cakes. Man, oh, man - they were GOOD! Whoever runs the kitchen knows exactly what he's doing. The cole slaw was excellent, with caraway seeds like it's supposed to have.
My wife ordered the prime rib, and she said it was excellent as well. She did order rare, and while her plate didn't look all that rare to me, she had no complaints.
The wings were 35 cents each, and we ordered half a dozen cajun-style. My only complaint of the night is that the wings were served with the meals instead of as appetizers. Not sure what the mix-up was here, but I'll give them a pass, because the wings were done nicely and were very tasty.
I also ordered fish & chips, which was really good. I knew I was in Rhode Island, because I didn't have to ask for malt vinegar; it was on the table, along with hot sauces, and the usual condiments.
Even the wine was surprisingly good for this type of place. The Cabernet  was Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi - not amazing, but certainly far better than other "house wines" I've encountered.
Lastly, I should mention that the prices were VERY reasonable across the board  - dare I say cheap?
We'll definitely be back here, and soon!
three reasons why you should stop in, even if you don't ride a motorcycle:
one. the prices are unbeatable... it's the food and drink version of the christmas tree shop (because you just love a bargain!) i've patronized this establishment a couple times now, never leaving with a big bill, but always leaving full and pleasantly tipsy.
two. the barkeeps and regulars are all very friendly (don't let the assless chaps fool you)... i was concerned that being a newbie at this locals' bar would be strange, but i've had some terrific conversations.
three. the bar food is quite tasty and of good quality. AND... Sundays/Mondays are 25 cent wing days. magic on a plate.
one reason to proceed with caution:
the menu doesn't have a ton of options for a health-conscious eater.. so have a salad for lunch and then dive into bar food bliss for dinner at Lindy's.
I got takeout from Lindy's once and it was really really good. I got the fried clams and my mom got the turkey club and we both really enjoyed it.
Why the 3 stars? I can NEVERRRR get in this place!! Every time we go there is no where to sit and has a crazy long wait. There is never a spot open at the bar to sit and have a drink while you wait. It is just so busy all the time which proves that they have awesome food, I just wish I would get a chance to eat it!
They had me at coleslaw.
I mean, they've got a decent beer selection for an out-of-the-way dive, cool drink specials, friendly bartenders, and a general happy, cheers-esque atmosphere. Can't beat the prices, either. It's straight-up cheap.
Get some fish and chips or a burger. Have a beer and watch some random sporting event on TV. Expect a wait--it's more bar than restaurant, and if you're smart, you'll skip the "dining room" half of the place and belly on up to said bar.
And hot damn do they make a mean coleslaw. I don't even really LIKE slaw. Light, not a lot of mayo, tangy, well-seasoned. Who knew cabbage could behave that way? Props, Lindy. Props.
It's a down-home pub worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. Although, if you're like me, you'll make a special trip. For the slaw.
Do not come to Lindy's if you are looking for an elegant night out, Do come to Lindy's if you want some shockingly fantastic food. Â I'll admit in the 5 years I have lived in this hood I just assumed Lindy's was your typical neighborhood dive bar. Â I wish I knew sooner what lied beneath it's unassuming exterior. Â
Awesome food, seriously I can not believe how good it was. Â I had fried shrimp which was huge, no joke it was $8ish and I got two meals out of it. Â I can't wait to come back to try something else!
Oh and they actually have blueberries for the Wachussett Blueberry beer!
Went here today in our quest for good Random pubs, and we hit paydirt. Lindys food, atmosphere and service were excellent. I had the South west chicken salad on the advice of a regular and it didn't disappoint. My wife had the Lobster roll, this had big chunks of lobster and was excellent value for money. Will be going back when we're in the area.
Review Source:Lindy's is an eight table restaurant with a long bar. Biker type people filled the joint when I went. They have great calamari, their fish and chips aren't bad and the seafood platter is GIGANTIC. I actually witnessed the owner clearing tables. He personally stopped by to see how everything was. They have great drink specials. I wouldn't mind stopping by if I'm in the area again.
Review Source:Lindy's is a small town bar with above average pub food. After two visits, the bucket of steamers and pitcher of beer for $20 is a good deal and pretty delicious to boot. All the seafood I've tried there has been good. The last time I went I tried their prime rib special which was decent if unremarkable. The fish and chips is really good and I've had a tasty scallop roll before. If you go in expecting good deals for a lot of food, Lindy's isn't a bad bet. After my experiences I'll probably stick to the seafood but I imagine their other pub food options aren't half-bad.
