We have been to gators twice now in two weeks.  No, it's not fine dining but it is very, very good American food. I can give five stars because it doesn't pretend to be anything else. Service is excellent, drinks are great, prices are great and portions are incredible.

Tonight I had a land and sea special. It was on the menu as an 8 ounce filet topped with lobster and bernaise. In reality it was closer to ten ounces with the meat from 6 (yes I counted) lobster claws as well as some pieces of tail. That came with salad, loaded mashed taters and corn for $21.99

My filet was a perfect medium and the lobster was excellent. It can get chewy if not treated right in a sauce. Oh, almost forgot the free all you can eat popcorn and bread. The bread had station is cut your own with regular and flavored butters. We had the the same server both times. Attentive without being annoying and very pleasant. She was one of the best we can ever remember having.

The decor is outback meets sports pub in a time machine. One table has 2 sleds, a picture of fenway, a Packard thermometer and a sombrero.  Decor means absolutely nothing to us but it is important to some.

If you are expecting something from iron chef, go elsewhere.  If you want good food and drinks while not paying for pretentious atmosphere go to gators. Try it, you know you want to.

Decent food and I've found myself there late plenty of times to eat I think they serve till 11 which I like. People complain about the locals but if you can't handle bar people go sit in the dining room. I never have a problem. Good food, cold beer. Can't go wrong, plus plenty else going on with the volleyball and stuff. It's really pretty good for such a small town

Maybe because I live in Providence, Gator's isn't really my scene. As has been mentioned before, it's more of a local watering hole. But Gator's has a lot of things going for it that make it hard for me to dismiss entirely.

The volleyball during the summer is a lot of fun to watch/partake in; plus, the outdoor seating has been nicely redone. There's a couple of pool tables in the rear, as well as a pinball machine up front.

All of the drinks are stupid cheap, and fairly decent. At last visit, I got a 23oz Guinness for $6... Which is typical for a pint most places in the city. On Sundays, they have a special on wings ($.50, but they're double wings, so it's essentially $.25) - the Buffalo style are decent. I wasn't a huge fan of the Parmesan-Garlic wings. The rest of the food is ok, but pretty good for a bar.

The service was good enough - not overly sunny, but by no means rude.
