Run of the mill for American-Chinese takeout. They have a huge variety of dishes including General Tso's (for all you white people) but plenty of Szechuan classics.. Â Keep in mind this review is going strictly off of their lunch special. The dining room is way too poorly lit and the only diners I've ever seen there look to be on their deathbeds.
When I go for cheap Chinese takeout, I go for quantity over quality. The expectation is that there should be enough food to last for two meals if you don't get greedy. Which is what surprised me about this place. While the food is fairly decent (minus the sauerkraut eggroll), it's about half the portion of every other Chinese restaurant I've ever been to.
Which brings me to the eggroll. Not sure what the deal is with it, but I'm 90% sure it's sauerkraut beneath that deep fried crispy cover. Go for the soup instead. Helps wash all the oil out of your throat.
Are you kidding me??? Â We were not impressed at all about the mother yelling at her daughter while she is taking our order. Â Our food was cooked so hastily so the cook can sit together with his family for their dinner. Â The soy sauce chicken we ordered was smothered with so much soy sauce, it was so salty. Â They even charge us for tea, most Chinese establishments do not charge tea. Â We left hastily without leaving a tip!
Review Source:Returning to this place 5 years later was a Deja Vu experience.
Great food and fast service all for a good deal. Â I used to visit this establishment for lunch during my "good years" at PU. Â What an experience to return here. Â Not the best place for a first date, but a nice place to grab a quick bite alone or with the fam. Â Highly recommended.
I could have swore this place was on Yelp before but there are no reviews now. Do not let this be a factor turning you away from Lins Wok.
I was disheartened when I moved here and tried what I thought to be a good portion of the Chinese food here... it was all pretty terrible.
*Enter Lin's Wok*
Lin's is great as they have the traditional authentic dishes as well as more of the American classics.
Ive ate here so many times that I cant really remember everything ive ordered. I will just give a few highlights.
Crab Rangoon--- without a doubt the best in the city and some of the better ive had in my life. Get this with your meal everytime
Hot and Sour Soup- This soup is usually hit or miss for me at places. Lin is a pretty good hit for me. They have a nice blend of spice to sourness and it comes out tasting very good.
General's Chicken- this is actually a very good rendition of this dish, not much more to say on it.
Spring Rolls- Very tasty.
Peking Chicken- It is kinda meh, I wouldnt get it again.
Spicy Meegoreng- Although this is more of an indo-chinese dish, they still serve it and I am so glad they do. It has such a rich spice and curry flavor, I love it, although I do wish it was Nagoreng rather than Meegoreng.
Anyways, that is all I feel like writing. Check it out.
