Wow.  Just walked in there for a beer and the place looked...rough.

I didn't have a gun on me, so I decided to leave.  How did this place go downhill so quickly?

I have reviewed this place in the past, I haven't been back in awhile and it appears there is new managers or something because this place sucks now! The music is way to loud and the drinks are awful.. I ordered a margarita and it tasted like sweet and sour mix! Nasty!!!

The atmosphere is old dudes waiting to hit on young chicks( all they do is take them for free drinks) kinda of funny to watch.. Karoke night is funny to watch drunks sing!

This place is turning in to a dump!  I think they need to be shut down. They try to get people drunk for tips!!

HORRIBLE place. We've been here a few times while visiting friends in Little Elm and it's the same every time. Bad service, bad layout. All of the chairs are in the middle of the establishment, we have to ask for a table and chairs while playing pool. Don't even think about paying cover, because for your money you can find a place much better. The DJs they use have to be friends of the employees or owner, because they aren't professional in the least.

As for bars in Little Elm, this is one of your few options. What prompted me to write this review is the service we received Saturday night. My fiance and I went to close our tab; the bartender asked what the last name was and we both answered at the same time. She proceeds to put her finger in my face, tell me to SHHH and she couldn't hear my fiance. We looked at each other and brushed it off as a bad night. Then she comes back with the reciept, tells my fiance "Good luck with that b*tch" which enrages him. I was still too shocked to comment, or believe me I would have. She comes back and asks if I'm even old enough to be in there because I look like a kid. He tells her I'm 27 and she says "well you look like sh*t." Ok, random. Others sitting at the bar were looking on in awe, then told me about the horrendous service they received as well. Apparently she had been taking shots behind the bar, but I never witnessed that. We spoke with the manager, and a bouncer came and apologized to us as well. This is NO way to treat anyone, let alone a customer. This type of behavior goes beyond a warning, and warrants termination.

I jsut moved here from OK and this place is really close to my new house.  Its nice to have a local bar to go too.  I wish it was non smoking though, I felt like I smoked a pack and I dont even smoke.  Otherwise it was fun.  Drinks were cheap and the music was good.  I WOULDNT EAT THE FOOD IN A PLACE LIKE THAT but thats ok, I was there to drink.....and I would probably go to watch a Thunder game too if they have them on, there were lots of tv's.

Place is horrible... Surprised that it hasn't been shut down or have had their liquor license revoked. A dive bar indeed that is suitable in South Dallas. If Denton or the surrounding counties are doing a warrant round-up, they might want to pay "The Den" a visit around closing time.

My husband andI go a night out witout the kids and decided to stop here since it was close to home.  Got to the door and asked for our id's no big deal, then told us it as going to be $15 cover, um for a little bar in little elm?  I don't think so.  There were not many people and the music was so loud.  We just left and went to Denton.  Bummer, I was looing forward to a place close to home...not yet.

Cute little dive bar. Good for playing pool. Food is alright, drink prices are a little on the high side for the type of bar it is. Nice perk is you can smoke in there after 9pm and they don't allow kids in there after then either. I wouldn't bring a family in there anyways

I didn't try and food when I visited the Lion's Den but I did have three truly terrible different drinks.  The first drink I'll take the blame for but the Long Island Iced Tea was disgusting and somehow even my rum and coke was not very good.

There is smoking in this bar and a lot of it.   I loved the atmosphere as far as pool tables, booths, a nice wood bar with some big scottish decorations behind it but the smoke/ventilation was so bad it ruined my evening.

Giant tvs on some of the walls for sports fans and they had kareoke which seemed like a good time.  If you're a smoker and you drink beer it is the place for you.

How is this place still in business? It took me a pretty thorough cleaning to get the cigarette smoke scent off me.

Stopped by for an early Friday evening dinner (6:30pm). Restaurant was almost entirely empty; not a good sign? :)

In short, beer selection was pretty good (15 taps?); mostly macro-crap beer yet they had about four reasonable micros.

Food was not poisonous but was nothing amazing, either. I had lasagna; my wife fish and chips; my daughter kid's mac-and-cheese. All were "OK"; nothing amazing.

I assume they make most of their coin on the bar side of things. Although the building seemed to be almost new, the Lion's Den felt "grimy" -- e.g., posters ripped off walls, graffiti on bathroom walls, dirty/cracked sink in bathroom, tippy chairs, etc. I kept thinking, "This place has been rode hard and put up wet." :)

Tons of TVs with many games blaring. It was annoying enough we moved outside to the patio. Sadly, that was the haven for the smokers yet we claimed a table upwind so it was OK.

I won't make the effort to return; there are FAR better choices.

    It is what it is.

It's a bar, with ok food. The pork sliders and cheese fries half off after ten is the best thing going. The wait staff not behind the bar is generally slow. Weekend nights it gets pack and makes for a good time. But there seems to be a shady crowd growing. Drinks are poured fairly heavily but Jim beam is as much as Jack. $2 draft beer all day is hard to beat though. Full smoking unlike a lot of near by places.

I like this place as it is where my gf's like to hang so meet them up there about once a week.
The food is so good ~ love the chicken sandwich & chili has no beans so like that although nothing beats the Snookie chili; however this is my second fav ;~)

Howard is nice the bartender but I suggest not to piss him off because then he will basically ignore you & make ur time very unpleasant so keep your bartender happy

I got sick after ordering the steak sandwich. I immediately started getting my nose stuffed and after a couple days developed a really bad cough. Have to go to the doctor to figure it out. Although it is the only bar around...I'd rather drive to Denton or just drink at home than go here.

So I went to the doctor and they gave me antibiotics and a shot and said I was close to developing pneumonia.

Quintessential local "dive" bar.  I hate to call it that but I do so with all the love and affection I can have for a bar walking distance from my home.

Lots of sports TVs, good stiff cheap drinks, good happy hour specials, and a staff with personality.  We've only been in around the happy hour times after work and haven't seen any of the live music or dancing but I am looking forward to it soon!

Great Staff! The bar-tending and cocktail staff is the reason I keep going back. Friendly folk who know how to have a great time. Try the Atomic Wing Challenge if you dare! (Very Hot). Good Live music and of course UFC on the tube. I will continue to go back till I get thrown out.

They have the UFC fights but the food blows.... The previous owner had the food situation figured out! But I like that the lion statue has a cock... That's pretty cool!

AKA the cougars den..... Drunk whores dancing everywhere

Cool Sports Bar with Games, TV, and Alcohol.  Just don't eat the food.  Did not care for the food at all.  had the jalapeño poppers which definitely seemed microwaved.  Had the chicken fried steak which tasted like it was at one time frozen.  The white gravy was actually pink and had a weird taste to it.  I guess I was overly disappointed because the place that was in this same location before (Texas Tailgate) had some of the best food in DFW.  Overall I would say grab something to eat somewhere else and then head over to The Lion's Den for drinks and fun.

We love to support local business but only when they are worth it. We decided to give the Lion's Den a try on Friday night and were disappointed by the whole experience.
First we got poor service, our waitress was quick to inform us that we had 15 mins left for happy hour specials. Unfortunately she didn't come back to ask us if we wanted HH appetizers until there was only 5 mins left. Perhaps she thought the owner's friends hanging out at the bar were more important. That brings us to the next disappointment, if you want locals to come back then get friendly with your customers not just your db friends. I don't want to overhear your conversations and high five slaps and "oh yeahs". Take that to the back not in front of families. Finally and most importantly is the food which really disappointed us. When you call your establishment a "pub" and want to offer "fish-n-chips" then you are setting a tone for your food. Chips are NOT Ore Ida crinkle cut fries and just because you gave me half the bag, doesn't make it right!!!! Half of the fries were uncooked which is a waist of food and money. I recommend to the owners and chef to wikipedia what "chips" really are. The fish was the highlight of the meal, which is not saying much really. It was a good size plank but had no flavor but oil/grease. The fried shrimp were small and over cooked, the shrimp were rubbery. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't bought frozen then just deep fried for crispness. The worst part was the Lion's Den is going to charge you between $13-15 bucks for each of these entrees.
Over the past few years there has been a surplus of "pubs" opening up in the metroplex but if you want to stay open then give the people reasonable sized tasty fresh meals at a reasonable price. A restaurant or grill or pub built on frozen food will not make it in the long run. Just ask the Texas Tailgate, oh you can't because they are gone and now the Lion's Den is taking their spot of bland.

Driving up to Frisco to the Lion's Den from Addison, I felt that I could have gone up to Oklahoma.  Especially a bar that's located in the middle of nowhere, where there's still a lot of open fields.

It's like any other laid-back sports bar to drink beer and watch the UFC and possibly there could be some regulars who would come here to watch the Superbowl this evening.   This place is almost like Down Under but with a generally younger crowd, average age probably around 25 and a bigger size dance floor.

Overall, if I were to live close by in the area this would be my regular hang-out.
