LBL had an offer on groupon for $19 for a meal of $67 value. I looked at their website and the menu & pictures looked good, so I bought it. Usually, I'm very diligent about checking yelp prior to any purchases of this nature, but I was slacking, to my detriment.
I walked into the bar, which was sparsely furnished, and was told that my groupon could be used at the adjoining restaurant. When I walked in, I was in pure shock. There was no furniture in here and no food in the racks. Nevertheless, I pressed on & told the lady behind the counter that I had a groupon. She told me to hold on and was then gone for an inordinate amount of time. When she returned, she told me that her boss told her I could order $19 worth of food but that I had to pay for anything above that. I informed her that the groupon said differently and she called her boss back. Her boss told her that it was for a different location. Now let me point out that: 1) the location in Valley Stream was the only listed location on the groupon & 2) upon further investigation, there is no other LBL in the NYC/LI area. I politely showed the lady the groupon with her location listed. She then tried to call the boss back and couldn't reach her on the phone. She told me that as soon as whoever was blocking up the line was off, she'd call. Well, I had been in there for close to 30 minutes by then and I had no intentions of waiting any longer. Hubby and I left. I called groupon immediately and told them of the discrepancy and received my refund.
Thanks Groupon.
No thanks Liquid Bar & Lounge.
