My bestie and I went in there on a Saturday night. No one was in there at first, so we got to chat with the nice bartender who knew quite a bit about the wine. Â She recommended a great white wine for us, that we both loved. Â The atmosphere was very cool - and we loved the lounge couch area. Â We can't wait to go back!
Review Source:Definitely a fun place to pop into - especially during the summer and on Thursday afternoon/evening while the Downtown Benicia Farmers' market is going on.
Jason is very knowledgeable on all the different varietals of wines, puts together and pairs wines for some interesting tasting experiences, and can help find the wine that best suits your palate.
you find the 'hard to find', artisan wines at The Loft - nothing that you'd see in Costco.
The icing on top of the Cake at "The Loft" is Kristina behind the bar. brings a smile to everyone and i always look forward to seeing her .
my partner had a 3 pour tastings while i had a strawberry mimosa and a glass of the apple ice wine. Â
my strawberry mimosa was awesome and appropriately priced but the tasting of ice wine for $22 was a bit pricy.
Since this review, i have heard back from the owner Jason who has been more than helpful and has offered and invited us for a second glass!
During my last trip to Benicia I was lucky enough to discover The Loft Wine Bar. Unlike other wine bars on the same street who offer a selection of wines that could be purchased from the supermarket down the street, The Loft has a great selection of wines by the glass and bottle from smaller boutique wineries.
The owner, Jason and his lovely wife Natalie are down to earth, very personable and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to wine. If you're unsure what to order just describe the kind of wine you like to your server and they will be more than happy to recommend something you're surely to love. Â
The next time you are on 1st Street in downtown Benicia make sure you stop in for a glass, or two, I love this place!
My wife and I have been frequenting the Loft for the past few months. We always have such a nice time when we go. Jason, the owner, is very knowledgeable and friendly. Christina, The lead bartender, is very fun and outgoing. The wine selection is very good. Jason and his wife are always on the go searching for the best wines to bring in to the bar.
Review Source:I had been wanting to try this place out since they opened. Finally, my BF and I decided to head down there one Friday evening to check it out.
There were only two other couples in the place. Not that I expected a wine bar to be packed, but still!
The place is kind of fun with the lights and the giant projection screen. Makes it feel like it might be more than, "just a wine bar". It was cold the night we were there so there was no option of hanging out outside.
The reason this place is getting such low a low rating is because of their pricing! I mean, come on! I know we are in Benicia and so everyone on First Street wants to up their prices, but REALLY?! And especially being next door to wine country - don't try and super upsell me some cheap wine! Prices for a glass are pretty much $10 and up. And you'll be happy to find a $10 glass. Plus, they don't describe the flavors of the wine - just list the names of the wine.
When there are so many options to drink wine nearby, I definitely won't be wasting my time spending a ton of money on not real quality wine here.
My  husband and I have lived in Benicia for only 3 weeks.  The Loft was one of the 1st places we went to after a long day of unpacking boxes.  This place has a very layback vibe, with a lofty feel, hence the name..  The staff is great, and they are very educated about their wines.  They have a few small bites, and have no problem with you bringing in food from another local restaurant or ordering a pizza and having it deliverd!  Really like this place.
Review Source:I love this new place on First Street! I will still go to the other wine bar, but I really like the menu, atmospere and the staff. Â Jason is a great guy. I have been here four times now,at different times of the day, and enjoyed it every time. Their listed flights are good, or you can create your own. Â We tried the cheese and olive plate and it was great for the price. Â Also enjoyed an early happy hour for mimosa's on the day of the Santa parade and they were delish! It's my new treat. Â Also the patio is dog friendly. : )
Review Source:A classy and well-rounded establishment has opened in Benicia that specializes in something I'm passionate about - wine! Come down to the historic and beautiful First Street of Benicia for a visit, and when you do, make sure to visit the Loft Wine Bar and enjoy a fine glass of wine in a wonderful friendly atmosphere!
Review Source:My husband and I happened upon The Loft on Sunday, as we were headed down First Street after lunch, fully intending to head home...and we are so pleased that we stopped in!
This classy little spot offers wine flights, glasses and half-glasses as well as bottles for purchase. Â Jason, the owner, put together a flight just for us, based on our preferences, and we found a red blend that was delicious!
After our flight, we each opted for a glass of the red and headed out front, where they have 2 communal granite topped tables where you can soak up the sun and enjoy lively conversation while doing a little "people watching" along First.
I highly recommend checking out The Loft Wine Bar (they also offer beer!), and am already looking forward to our next visit!
