Warning: Guilty pleasure ahead!
Okay, this is one of my weaknesses. Â I LOVE LJS. Â For some reason - dunno if it's salt, MSG, heroin, whatever - it's an awesome treat. Â Sure, it's greasy as heck and can leave your gut going "what did you DO to me?!" later that afternoon, but man, is it worth it.
I absolutely love the chicken planks and the fried shrimp.  I always go, see what's the way I can get the most of these for the least money that day (it is  a little pricier than most fast food, which is probably a good thing in the end), and buy that combo and/or add-a-planks.  The hushpuppies are good, but I only get them if they come with the combo I order.  I actually now prefer the fries because they have malt vinegar for them, which is the biggest win there is.
Also, some sites have Wild Cherry Pepsi, which is my favorite fountain drink as well. Â WIN, WIN, WIN. Â (Can't remember if this LJS has it, though.)
When I could con a co-worker to go here to pick up, or on those rare days I had my own car, this was the perfect treat. Â Going there was the best because it was a nice break from everything, I could use the actual malt vinegar bottles instead of the the little plastic packs, etc.
Sadly, I can't go anymore, as my sodium restrictions are so severe for now. Â Also, I'm off caffeine, so the Wild Cherry Pepsi doesn't go anymore. Â *sigh* Â If it didn't mean risking death, it'd almost be worth cheating....
I'm not really one to frequent chain fast food restaurants because I usually leave wishing I had not eaten the food and that it tasted gross. Â I have to make an exception for LJS! Â It has been a few years since my last LJS experience but I had that craving today. I'm not sure what it is about their food but every greasy bite tastes better than the last. Maybe there is a ton of MSG or some other highly addicitive food additive that makes it taste great and keeps you coming back for more. I don't know. The Pirates secret recipe i guess. Â I had the combo sampler with 1 piece of fish, 1 piece of chicken, 3 shrimp, 2 hushpuppies, and fries. The fish was a little soggy but it always is. I don't typically like chicken but I think they have the best chicken strips/planks ever. The shrimp was tasty and the hushpuppies delicious. Yums!
