How this place stays in business I just don't know; there is never anyone here. BUT the bartenders are always nice. We were there for Dickens on the Strand; they have window seats with open windows facing parade so you can have a real cocktail and enjoy the view and fresh air.
Why does Galveston not change their ordinances allowing for closed off street events to have open container rules?
Pretty much the only place to dance in Galveston, besides Buckshots which is a country bar. Not really my scene. But when I have a buzz I'll definitely dance my ass off.
I'm really shocked that it hasn't turned ghetto. I know it kinda used to be, but there's some good looking people that go here. They don't have a very strict dress code at all.
You can smoke in the front room in the left but the back is completely non smoking.
Good music, good drinks. Go see Lynn he's amazing.
So shocked at the lack of reviews for The Lounge! C'mon Galvestonians, step up and Yelp up! This place is CRUNK.
I had a really good time here on a recent bachelorette party excursion. No, really, we had an excursion limo. Ridic. Anyway, The Lounge was our last stop after dinner and two other bars, and it was the perfect place for dancing. The DJ did a great job playing rap and hip-hop club bangers that most of us hadn't heard in a few years. I like that he was playing to the crowd, taking note of the general age range. Everyone was so excited to hear Ying Yang Twins, Ludacris, Usher, all those college memory dance songs. It wasn't the typical Top 40's, dubstep stuff these hipster kids are banging to these days. At one point, he switched to some cumbia/tejano (are those the same thing? Who knows.) which made us stop dancing, but it was cool because we just headed to the front room where the rap was still blaring. That's when having two dance rooms comes in handy.
The crowd here was live. We had a dance party with a group of college kids, met a few bachelor party groups, hit it off with other brides-to-be and ultimately ended up stumbling back to the limo sweaty and ready to call it a night. What more could you ask more in a club?
Like the two stars state...Meh. I've experienced better. But when you want to dance this is really the only place in Galveston to go. The downstairs area to your left when you first walk in is a smoking area. They keep the big front windows open which is cool to people watch. If you want to go out and act a fool this is the place. If you want the service to be great go somewhere else. One of the female bartenders actually refused to serve my friend because she balked at her lack of knowledge on how to make a common shot. Really, if you bartend you should know how to make a red headed slut, and if you don't you might be made fun of by the person who asks you to make it. Take it in stride and learn how to make the darn drink! Another girl helped us and actually told us the other bartender does that all the time. Pshaw! *sigh* I'm sure I will be back here at some point but I wont be happy about it.
Review Source:The Lounge / Boomba room is a sad excuse for a dance club BUT it is the only thing Galveston has that focuses on dancing ALL OF THE TIME. The mgmt is a little rude and the staff could be more inviting. The not so strategically located poles are no good for really dancing and the drinks are pricey.
Try harder Boomba- we need you!
Well, well, maybe this review will surprise you after reading what appears to be a rant of a review, but I have nothing, but good things to say!
First, I am not your typical "in da club" kind of girl, but for my girls bachelorette, I will do anything! Â We were in Galveston for the weekend to soak up some rays and get our "woo" girl party on!
After taking in some dinner at a great sushi place (Sky Bar Sushi), we headed down to the Strand area to get our dance on! Â Now, granted, I am not in college anymore, and we were looking for a club, so this place hit the spot! Â While walking in you may be deterred; there are different rooms and areas that don't appear to be very crowded, but head upstairs (not the best way for us girls in heels) and you walk into a dance floor for the best of them! Â It does get crowded the later it gets, just like any other dance floor I'm sure.
The bar service is quick and easy and cheap! Â I come from ITL and a shot will set you back at least 8$, but not In G-town! Â I know the manager from back in my college days, and he hooked us up with some champagne, which was great and more than we could have expected! Â
If you really get into it...they have a pole for you brave dancers, but we won't go into details.
