I've never written a yelp review before, but this dump deserves my wrath. this place is absolutely atrocious. some of the worst "irish" fare I've ever come across. maccools (which is not even an irish name by the way, its scottish) , is to an Irish pub what Olive Garden is to a tuscan ristorante. this abomination of an "irish pub", has all the ambiance of a long john silver's, with the food quality of burger king . the worst part of the entire experience is the guinness. which is 6 dollars a pop and despite the fact that the menu claims it is a "pint" , it isn't even close. its a 10 oz. glass, not 16 oz like a proper pint. major ripoff. will never go anywhere near this place ever again. my corned beef pot pie was nothing but a pile of microwaved scalloped potatoes with barely a sliver of corned beef in it. I mean this meal must have cost the restaurant 60 cents to make and they charged 14 dollars for it. all in all, me and my date spent $80 for the most unsatisfying meal of our lives. we had 5 guinesses and two shepherds pies. we could have spent the same amount of money and gone to ruth's chris.
stay away from maccools. unless you like spending half your paycheck on terrible food and getting ripped off on guinness "pints" that arent nearly a pint.
I've had a long standing love of this restaurant for years now. Â I remember the first table we ever sat at, the first things our group ordered, and nearly every meal since.
The food is outstanding. Â The lamb ribs are to kill for. Â The Guinness Stew is perfect, with huge chunks of carrots and potatoes and beef in it.
The service is, for a pub, as good as it gets.  I've been in high end  restaurants where the service wasn't near as good as MacCool's.
It even has a kids menu... but please don't. Â There's nothing I hate more when dining, than someone's obnoxious brats running around and screaming and being a pain...
